Jim Mora Jr. withdraws himself from consideration for Redskins HC job (update)

Just read the latest WP article regarding Mora. I will ask the opinions of you all here. Do you see a schenario where Mora gets hired?

If that happens it would really be bad for the job Gibbs has done over 4 years.

If you were Williams would you be starting to get frustrated with the gossip on Mora? I'm sure he hears all the details from sources.

Thanks!

Yes, and yes.

Why would be difficult to answer.

Me too. Don't even know why Snyder is in love with him. I think he just likes the power of it all. Gibbs gone is already showing its affects. He held old Dan in check just by being there.

Don't be so quick to pass judgement on the interview process. This team is on the cusp of being a force in the NFC. This HC job has to be the most inviting of all the vacancies out there.

Snyder is being careful in this process and wants the right guy for the job, period.

And we don't know if he is waiting until after the Super Bowl. There may be candidates that are still in the playoffs that he cannot talk to yet and he may just be biding his time until those candidates are available for interviews.

Jim Mora has a different middle name and Vinny and him worked together in San Francisco and would fit the comfort zone that Snyder desires

My theory on him getting hired would be:

He's got HC experience
He's young and commands respect
Has a winning record even if it isn't much
Is a good HC

I started thinking if Snyder changes his mind and hires Mora Jr. why would he do that? He looks at the Cowboys keeping Garrett (a young bright prospect for HC next year or the following) he looks at Williams (a little older) if he fails then What? If he picks Mora (also a young bright person w/ HC experience) he would also have a bright young up and coming coach to compete with the Cowboys in the long run. I think Mora failed in Atlanta because of Vick (great athlete but not much of a QB). Maybe this is a bunch of nonsense in my part.

What in the heck are you even talking about. Mora is a coach we are looking for a coach so he gets an interview. How does that say DS is in love with him? To me it says he is taking his time and interviewing all posable HC. What affects are you talking about? Waht has Danny done? Nothing and what do you know about what is going on? Nothing. This is a dumb thread based off of nothing so quit making up threads. In the beging I said there would be 5 to 10 rumor head coaching threads and I was wrong. I think there will be 10 to 15 rumor HC threads.

The guy runs a typical west coast offense, we already have Saunders, makes no sense

Re: Jim Mora Jr.?

I think the bigger question is...are any of these candidates an upgrade over Williams? In terms of leadership, tactical strategy, statisically speaking (his defenses have ranked high), motivation (players seem to respond to Williams' technique), and that's not to mention the intangibles.

So my thinking is regardless of whom they interview, there's probably only a handful of coaches on the market that could unseat Williams as the heir appearant.

See I don't think Mora commands respect. I think guys like Mike Singletary command respect. Mora? No thanks. I remember hearing a story about how he could not control DeAndelo Williams. Now that is not an easy thing to do but he seems too buddy buddy with the players if you ask me. He kind of reminds me of Pete Carroll. He'd make a great college coach. Plus that whole University of Washington ordeal. I mean the guy has an NFL job and goes on the radio lobbying for a college job? What the hell is that all about? I would stay far away from this guy.

Not only that...but look at the kinds of guys that were on that team and how they acted...and ask yourself if Gibbs would have let that slide

I've seen the Defensive coach side of him here in SF and all the players love him and respected him, he's a players coach. If you watched the Seattle game, same thing. I would much rather have GW, but Mora is not a bad alternative. As far as controlling D. Hall who cares, the guy is talented but he's a punk like Pacman, nobody could control someone like that, the solution would be to trade him or cut him. By the way, Andre Carter would endorse him having played for Mora.

Andre Carter has already endorsed GW.

Pretty much every player and coach has endorsed GW. I don't think Mora would be a good fit. He may have had success in the past, but I still don't trust him. He typically runs a west coast offense (thats what Atlanta ran), and I think he runs a 3-4 defense (I could be totally wrong).

Snyder said he wanted stability. Hiring Mora would be the opposite of stability.

No I'm not angry its just post like yours allready calling Snyder out when you do not have a clue as to what is really going on or what he is thinking. Wait until he has made his decision before calling him out.
You Said: "Gibbs gone is showing its affects" what affects are you talking about? From your post its like DS has done something wrong. What has he done that was wrong?

Ok maybe I shouldn't jump all over Snyder but its pissing alot of people off who want Greg to get the nod ASAP for the process to begin.

Don't know what owners have sleepover parties with coaches they're interviewing for the job, seems a bit much.

Agreed. If they go that route and disrupt team chemistry (they will, switching to a West Coast offense and 3-4 defense) it will create problems. Mora overall is not a bad coach, if he ended here AC would endorse him(Carter endorsed GW before Mora was even a candidate).

Maybe he could not get in until late so they just held the meeting at his home and then finished up in the morning. All I'm saying is lets give the process the time to run its course. If what DS does is not what people feel is the best thing for the skins then say what you want. I'm also not sure why its ticking people off that he is taking his time to hire a new coach. Most everyone wants GW but what if he said he doe not like AS system and wants to replace alott of the other coaches. Do we still want him over maybe someone that wants to keep the other coaches in place and work with what we allready have? We just don't know at this point.

I've asked this before but did not get an answer. You say most players and coaches have endorsed GW so please provide a link which proves this to be true. I know a few are on record as backing GW but I have not seen anywhere that all these players are on record for GW.

Well when looking for a coach you look for a long term guy so we need to look at all posable HC. I think people here just want to know who our next head coach is and are not thinking long term and yes that could be GW but what is the harm in taking a few extra days. Look how long the other teams are taking to find a HC.

He was hand picked by Gibbs, performed excellently in my opinion. Without our Defensive play our teams wouldn't have been in any playoffs in four years and they would be bashing Gibbs even harder. The Offensive side of our team has been holding us back for years!

Williams is the stud of our Organization right now he's at the top and needs to be treated that way.

Forget about hiring anyone else, making him wait this long and giving him four long interveiws is already borerline ridiculous!!

My point once again you do not know what has gone on in those interviews or why they needed 4 interviews so we don't know if it was ridiculous or not. Yes he has done a good job with the D but its a whole nother story when it comes to running the entire team. Patients my son patients. Snyder was smart enough to lure Gibbs out of retirement so we have to believe he is smart enough to hire the best coach for the team again.

I heard in an interview on the Riggin's show with JLC. He said that Snyder, Joe-no, and some of the other fellas's had numerous in depth sessions preparing the candidate list to best fit the Skins needs. I am totally confident this will come out the way it is supposed to.
