Your Favorite Redskins Collectibles Shop

I was reading someone complain about a sports memorabilia shop and then thought this might be an interesting topic.

Try not to post chain stores. I was thinking we could talk about the local little shops. Everyone knows about the Redskins stores in just about every mall in the area... but what about the mom and pop shops? Which ones are good and why? If you really like them, put a link to a website or list their address so other people can find them.

I know, I know...maybe it's because I'm in PA, but I have never seen a Redskins shop of any kind. The only team store I know of is an Orioles store...no NFL shops at all. :(

Well, the Skins used to have training camp in PA... gotta have something up there...oh well.

Gotta agree with Buster on Ebay. No Redskins shops in OKC.

Man... this thread is dying. I was thinking people could list their little local, obscure shops that they like to go into.

Let me try. Of course, being in Fredericksburg, I like the Card Cellar in Four Mile Fork (Leader In Sports - Home). I also have been to a little shop in Manassas called Two Day Gifts (or something like that)... they are near the train tracks.

(both of these are in VA).

There is a booth in the Antique Station in Frederick that I frequently visit. Lots of vintage collectables.

The redskins store at the stadium always sell's game used and other stuff. I don't really have a good store near me since most redskins store's are in va. So I just hit up my local flea market's and buy my authentic jersey's and other collectible's there sometime. The prices are more reasonable then some other place's. But if I had to choose a spot it would be the store at the stadium at the end of the year when they have there tent sale's and sometimes they do it during the fan apperication day aswell in the summer. That's wear you can buy game used jersey's, helmets, and etc.

I have been going there for years. The two lady's that own the place are some of the nicest people. Back in the late 90's early 2000's they would have Redskins players there once or twice a month. I got to meet quite a few of the guys there. Anything you could possibly want Redskins related they have it.

Living up in Cecil County, MD, there is mostly Ravens and Eagles stores. However, in Elkton, MD there is a little mom and pop shop called M&M's that I go to. The owner is a HUGE Skin's fan, so he trys to keep some stuff on the shelf; but he doesn't like over purchasing because it doesn't sell too much. Mostly clothing, jackets, hats etc, but there other trinkets available at times. Since I have become a regular there (I have to by my 3 son's sports gear and uniforms there too), he makes attempts to bring in a little more. I don't think they have a website, but if you are near the area, it is right off of Route 40 near Route 213.

Didn't they have Art Monk signing for free back in the early 90s?

Yes they had Art , Lachey, Daryl Grant, Fischer, Manley, K. Houston, Milot, Olkewics, Jacoby and quite a few others. One signing they had 4 players and all you had to do was buy a book and they would all sign it for you..

The good ole days when you could get a guys sig. for free.. not like the players today where they charge 30$ and have never played a down.

I went to my local shop looking for a Fassal shirt like the one he will be wearing tomorrow. They did not have one so I'm ticked and will not promote their store. They did have a sale on GW shirts at 1/2 off or 1/2on.

There used to be a really cool Redskins store in Occoquan that I would go to. But I'm not sure if it's still there. The internet really hurt small specialty stores like these.

Re: Your Favorite Redskins Collectibles Shop

There was a cool sports card store that had all kinds of collectibles in Frostburg. They had some autographs when the Redskins used to go up there for Training Camp. It was nice little shop and they really had some nice cards. I unfortunately couldn't stay too long because the train that goes up there was leaving. I believe the train ride was called the Western Maryland Railroad. Really cool train ride if you ever decide to do that.

I also like the Card Cellar and try to get there when I go home to Fredericksburg. I've not actually been to PSGameGear in Sterling, but I have dealt with them via phone, email, and mail-in and they are really great and extremely helpful. They have some really good signings there as well and from photos I've seen it looks like they have some pretty cool stuff. If you're local I'd say it is worth the trip.

While I'm sure that Redskins Rich has already posted this somewhere, you might consider going by when they have their Laron Landry signing on Feb. 14. Welcome Page

Was it a little place in the corner of a basement in an antique shop along the river? Slewfoots or something?

Yes... I was joking... it is hard to read inflections on here...

I was there years ago...a total mom and pop store. A nice little old lady used to run it and I would assume she still does. I have purchased in the store and online and would do so again.

For new books, the Redskins: Game of My Life is a great read. Lots of stories about the George Allen-era players . . . Diron Talbert, Pat Fischer, Roy Jefferson, Mike Bass, Ron McDole, etc.

Mom and Pop shops give you the best service. They also tend to be truer fans.
