Warpath Mock Draft (Order Set-Post #31)
 

I figured that since we're close to the Combine now, it would be a good time to bring this up. I was wondering if we were going to be engaging in the mock draft this year.

If so, I would like to volunteer for the Saints and either the Bengals/Falcons

two of us organized it last year, and while everyone was eager to sign up, a lot decided not to show up when it actually happened (weeks of notice to figure out if they could be online) and very few actually took time to do any research even with all the information provided, compiled, and linked in the thread.

i'm down, but unless it's people that actually spend time studying the draft, it's really not going to be even 50% accurate.

Is the idea supposed to be to project what will happen, or is it to suggest what we would do in that team's situation?

The truth is though, we don't know what teams are thinking at this point, so those are pretty much one in the same concept at this point.

I don't know what Matty, SGG, and Smootsmack will think about this, but perhaps it would run most efficiently if we restricted it to VIP members only. Wouldn't be a bad way to create more VIP members.

As long as people don't use the mock as a fourm to drum up publicity for a player who they like/know personally, it should run OK.

Either way, this would be a mid March sort of deal, we want to wait for the big FA money to dry up and see who fills what need in FA.

Sounds good, I didn't participate last year, but I'm a lot more into college football this year and would like to participate. I have some good ideas with what to do with the Falcons and I know what the Saints SHOULD be doing...can't guarantee they'll do it.

I think we should put some serious thought into how to reorganize this. It was a total dud last year and I am pretty sure it will turn the same this year. I am not sure I have any ideas but let's try and think about some out of the box ideas on how to make this interesting and more importantly up participation.

Part of me wonders if we should restrict it to something 5 or 6 members who form a team and consult and then we roll out a couple picks a day and then let the rest of the board debate it. It might be time consuming for the 5 or 6 but it would be better researched and more "accurate"

again, i'm down with whatever, but it sucked putting in 60 hours of research and informational work only to have people make picks out of left field or not show up at all.

That's why I'm taking the Saints because I know a lot about them. Also, I have some good ideas with what to do with the Bengals and/or Falcons. I've read some a lot of other mocks, but I would need to see a lot more projections after the combine because I have an idea of a 2nd or 3rd round pick for ATL. Anyway, I'm just looking to roll with a few teams that I know pretty well. I will admit, my picks in the later rounds may be a little off, but I'm definitely up for giving this a shot.

I remember the 06 draft, btw and it was pretty good. I don't think it would be that difficult to do that again.

The 1st round draft order has been set. The following was completed using a highly sophisticated logarithmic algorithm too ingenious for the simple mind to comprehend :)

Please note that if your name is not on the list and you wish to join you must PM the person (CC a moderator) who has the team you want. Said person who holds the rights to that team may either give you that team or the other team he holds. It is up to them. But they must give up one of their teams.

The final round one draft will be set on April 21 (perhaps sooner, up to Matty)

ZOMG, I made the team......twice!!! This is actually really cool though. Not only will I have to take an interest in my "local team" but I get to research a team whos draft situation I don't know a whole lot about. I'm actually more excited about drafting for the Niners then I am for the Falcons.

Second round should just be free form...a continuation of the first round, but anyone can pick for the team is currently on the 'clock'

fair enough. the real cowboys are going to end up with a good draft this year. they've really been targeting grade A players and good values for their picks too. makes me kinda sad :/.

The final official rules, including start and end dates for the mock draft, are currently being reviewed by the Warpath Moderators Mock Draft Subcommittee and will be announced shortly by Chief Elder Matt Kyer
