My sentiments exactly |
Re: Rams Meet with Caldwell and Macklin
I don't see why Caldwell would want to sign with the Rams over us, especially after how he played with us last year. I don't care about Macklin, but need 'clutch' Caldwell. The Rams are a joke, and the only way they will get him is if they sign him to a bigger contract.

Re: Rams Meet with Caldwell and Macklin
I hope we can keep Caldwell too.He played really well down the stretch last year.
|
Re: Rams Meet with Caldwell and Macklin
Caldwell is just seeing what's out there. I don't think we're offering him much more than the vet min so you can't blame him.
|
Re: Rams Meet with Caldwell and Macklin
In Caldwell's case, I think the team has actually offered him a deal and is waiting to hear back from his agent. I would imagine he's going to make every effort to seek out the best deal.
I don't think the team had any intention of resigning Macklin, so if he walks it wouldn't be considered a loss. |

Saunders is a big fan of his, from what I hear, so that would explain the interest in Caldwell. I thought Macklin had said he signed with the Redskins only because of Gibbs, so with JG gone... |

Macklin is from newport news as well. My buddies mom teaches with his mom. But he didnt do anything for us last year, so im not sad to see him go. But even though saunders is high on caldwell, that doesnt mean he will want to sign there. I see Caldwell coming back here before he goes to St. losers Rams |
Re: Rams Meet with Caldwell and Macklin
All Macklin did last year was take up cap space, and if Caldwell leaves it won't be a huge loss, he played well in the clutch, but a lot of that was because Todd Collins threw to him a lot more than JC did.

well i dont think it matters who's throwing him the ball, he's shown he can catch it when called upon. Plus he was still learning the offense fo rthe 1st half of the season, so it just happend Collins was in there when he made it into the line-up. |

I ain't got no link yet
Local Hampton Roads product. Graduated at Menchville High School (same High School my kids went to), really good young man. Just didn't do much of anything for the Skins. I expected more when he signed just didn't get it, no lose here. Any update on Caldwell? |

David Macklin : USAToday.com - David Macklin Biography from USAToday.com
Mar. 20, 2008 - 5:09 p.m. ET Rams agreed to terms with CB David Macklin on a one-year contract. Macklin was once a decent corner in the Colts' Tampa 2. Players from that secondary system rarely play well elsewhere, and Macklin further confirms it. If the Rams think of him as more than a dime back, they could be in trouble. Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch As you can see, Asante Samuel is a Tampa 2 corner. And He's not as good as everyone thinks he is... Asante would prob be behind Carlos if he came to us. He's not as good as carlos if you ask me, he does have better hands but that doesnt make him a better CB. |

i hoe we match their offer or just a little under on caldwell. |
Re: Update: Rams Meet with Caldwell; Sign Macklin
Heres how I see it- If we let Caldwell go, we are going to sign or trade for a WR in the FA, and draft deeper in the draft (say round 4-6). If we match/keep him, we draft a WR higher, like in the 2nd or third. Any thoughts? Just putting that idea out there... could be right or wrong.

Re: Update: Rams Meet with Caldwell; Sign Macklin
Caldwell is the best remaining WR on the market, so he's going to get some play from any team who still has a need.
Like us, for example. |

Re: Update: Rams Meet with Caldwell; Sign Macklin
Bump Mix up one spot on the depth chart. :)

Re: Update: Rams Meet with Caldwell; Sign Macklin
Now that Macklin is gone I think that CB becomes a priority in the draft. Our nickel corner is spot is going to be weak (not counting Rogers to start) and is going to need to be addressed via draft.
I wouldn't be against using a first round pick since there will be great young corners still available to us at #21. |

Caldwell to make his decision next week. JLC Blog
Posted at 6:32 PM ET, 03/21/2008 News and notes From Jason Reid: Because of roster bonuses in his new contract, Redskins punter Derrick Frost could earn as much as $850,000 next season, a league source said. Wide receiver Reche Caldwell, to whom the team also extended a new contract offer, is expeced to decide next week whether he will return to the Redskins. The team also is waiting to hear from offensive lineman Jason Fabini, who is weighing a contract offer as well. |
