Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Members of that GREAT Washington Redskins team that won Super Bowl XXII on the arm of Doug Williams got together at a private meet-and-greet Friday night at Vapiano in Dulles Town Center. The event was sponsored by PSGameGear Sports, which boasts a WIDE variety of authentic autographed sports memorabilia in ALL of the major sports. Jeff Bostic, R.C. Thielmann, Ricky Sanders, Kelvin Bryant, Reggie Branch, Raleigh McKenzie, Dave Butz and Darryl Grant were amonth the Redskins in attendance last night. Chris Cooley even made a special appearance with his fiance, Christy. By the way, I met Christy's parents last night and her mom is BEAUTIFUL! I think Cooley was thrilled to be talking with all of those former Redskins. For me, the best part of the night was meeting Kelvin Bryant. I followed him in his USFL days and his was the first Redskins jersey I ever owned. I'd never met him until last night and I can't tell you how psyched I was to meet him. He even signed by jersey.
The Redskins legends from last night will be joined by a number of their teammates, including Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams, at a HUGE autograph show today (Saturday) at Dulles Town Center between 1 and 5. You can learn more about the show and PSGameGear Sports (AWESOME store, by the way) at Welcome Page. Enjoy the pics. Christy! Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Even though I'm not diggin Cooley's ensemble, it's cool that he has "21" etched on his belt.

Actually, I just noticed that his shirt looked like he had just rolled out of bed and noticed the belt. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. |

LOL. Now that you mentioned it, that is a pretty cool belt. I wonder where he got it. |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Cooley is THE MAN with that pink shirt and hot chic by his side! aahhh, to be twenty-something again...
I'm surprised you got Dave Butz to smile, when I met him (ironically a few months after the superbowl XXII win), he about ripped my head off! |

He was in Fredericksburg last summer... he was really cool. If you were getting a mini helmet signed, he asked if he was the only one who was going to sign it... if you answered yes, he signed both sides so you could face it either way and see the autograph. |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
I have to give another shout-out to the good folks at PSGameGear Sports, who sponsored the event. PSGameGear boasts a full line of autographed memorabilia and other items from every major sport. The store at Dulles Town Center is INCREDIBLE and I highly recommend you visit it if you're ever out there. You also can visit them on the Web at Welcome Page.

That sounds like something he would do. Man, they just don't have athletes like these guys anymore. Let me tell you a story. I was talking to Reggie Branch at the party -- it's SOOOOO cool to say that! He told me that he LOVED his teammates because they were all about the team instead of "getting theirs" like a lot of today's athletes. Indeed, you always felt connected to them because they WERE part of the community and they never thought twice about signing an autograph when asked, both Friday night and back during their playing days. That's what made the glory years that much more special. It wasn't just about the Redskins winning, but how those players went out of their way to include the fans. I'm proud to have lived through that and I'll NEVER forget that night! |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Nice pix!
Edit: nevermind on the question - I clicked the link and got the answer. |

lol.. their prices are through the roof. It looked like the Friday night thing was a good deal.... but the autograph tickets were just silly. Olkewics was 15 bucks in Feb down here... they had him at 25. They had Ricky Sanders at 30, he will be 20 next month down here. This store likes the mark up. |

Yeah, that is ridiculous. I have a thing about paying for autographs, so while that Saturday event was intriguing, the prices were HORRIBLE! The Friday night event was MUCH better in that you get to interact more with the players, talk to them and take pictures. I'll never forget it! |

Like I said, I have a thing about paying for autographs. That's insane. Pictures mean more to me. |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Awesome pics man. Looks like you had a great time...
|
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
WOW. What an incredible experience! You're a very lucky man.
Good thing Cooley's a nice guy obviously...shooting all of those pictures of his woman AND checking out his "belt buckle". Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. I too was surprised by the size of Ricky Sanders. Maybe he should give Golic or Marino a call. :) |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Great pics.
Looks like you'll never forget that. Also, I agree with your assessment of Christy's Mom. She's a MILF J-Dawg |
Re: Super Bowl XXII Reunion
Nice to see Reggie Branch there. He's the player who let me hold his Super Bowl ring - that thing weighed as much as a shoe.
(EDIT - yeah, that's my 3,500th post. I want to thank you all.) |
