Getting out of hand now

"Free Chad" Absolutely hilarious

Rosenhaus just looks like a scum bag, he needs a couple gold chains and overgrowing chest hair to complete his look.

Dude has no shame.

"Forget that I'm his agent, it seems like a smart move for the organization"

He knows nothing (nor does he care) about the Bengals. He shut put a sock in it. Teams already hate dealing with him - why make it worse?

You should not be talking about Snyders close friend and hand ball buddy like that.

Personally I'd much rather get Merling/Jordy instead of Johnson/CB or DT

Enough is enough! F-Rosenhaus, F-Chad!

Danny needs to cut this one-way relationship with Rosenhaus! I'm sick of our name coming up in ridiculous offers for Rosenhaus clients and that POS using us for leverage. Briggs last year, Chad now. Thank God the Bengals are hard-headed and saved us from this terrible relationship and nixed the CJ deal.

Are Chad & Briggs good players, yes. But not worth what Rosenhaus talked Snyderatto into paying for them.

What has Rosenhaus done for us. NOTHING. He handles Fletcher, Moss & Portis. Each of them signed generous contracts, I'm sure Rosenhaus did nothing but squeeze us for every last dime.

There are plenty of other players out there not managed by Rosenhaus. Just don't sign any of his clients. I'm usually not overly-emotional but this POS Rosenhaus makes me sick. He's the poster-boy for everything bad with agents.

This is pretty funny, I think it's hilarious how much Drew Rosenhaus is practically on his hands and knees. I'm giving one to the Bengals org. though for standing up to him.

In the article, they bring up a "great idea" that Boomer Esiason had - let CJ repay some of his signing bonus. I do not think this is a viable option because I think after Lavar did this a few years back the league made a rule prohibiting this. So even if he wanted to, I don't think he could.

I kinda agree with you on that one, for some reason it seems like the majority of owners hate dealing with him, but when it comes to him and Danny they love working with each other.

I believe I heard something about this too, when the new CBA was announced I think it was something along the lines of players can't pay parts of their bonuses back to owners to get out of their contracts. If that is part of the CBA though it would come up in the event that's what Chad tries to do.

The air has a pervasive scent of desperation.

What a way to try to leverage yourself at a negotiation table...seem completely vunerable and desperate....great tactic Drew.

I wonder how dumb the 1st and 3rd draft choices for CJ appear to the Redskins now that they have had a chance to think about it? If they are still thinking about that trade, I am worried about them and would doubt that they are as prepared for the draft as they should be.

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

seems to me that if the Bengals really will take a cap hit by trading him before June 1, and he can't buy his way out, then he & Drew are just driving the price down for him every time they talk.

Maybe Drew knows the best offers are going to come before the draft & after that teams won't have as much to offer the bengals. The problem w/that is that the bengals take a big cap hit. How bout you include that in your "objective" analysis Drew?

I didn't know Rosenhaus represented Santana Moss and Clinton Portis...interesting.

Anyway my real question is...I used to be quick to judge players like CJ, TO, Urlacher, (insert Rosenhaus client that holds out for money), and any other that holds out, wants to be traded, or just doesn't want to honor their contract. But don't teams do the same thing? I mean aren't there a lot of veterans that get cut b/c teams feel like they don't need them or they feel they are not worth the money they are due? For instance, last year Shawn Springs didn't want to restructure his contract...had the Redskins traded him or cut him, isn't that the same as a player wanting a new contract or wanting out? In my opinion it is the same.

Yeah and he represented Taylor too. But I think that's it as far as Redskins. He represents players all over the league, a lot of Miami Hurricanes especially.

And yes it's very similar. Like I've said before, the NFL is a very cut-throat, me-first business.

Is it the same in pure 'economic man' terms? perhaps
Is it the same overall? No

The team is greater than any 1 player & always will be. The team exists because great capital has been invested, i.e. risk has been taken through investment in facilities, staff, coaches, players, etc. Players risk their bodies, but they are not taking on anywhere near the financial risk that the Danny is able to.

It's always a fine line when a player quietly demands more money, and to me that's half of it right there. How often do you hear a team official say to espn, 'this guy really sucked last year so we cut him'?

Yet some players feel they are justified in calling out an organization publicly. Teams are held to a higher standard of professionalism. Fans expect that, but fans also respect players that observe that same standard. Those who don't, well they end up on espn like TO & Chad.

Every business is "cut-throat, me-first" just to different degrees. What shouldn't be overlooked is that teams are taking chances on players when they sign them to big deals and they are penalized in cap space if they cut them usuallly. The player on the other hand, gets some guaranteed cash.

Of course each side gets something & has its self-interest, but the investment goes both ways. Either side can get screwed in the end. There is still some trust & honor involved.

In the case of Ocho e.g., he's crying yet his team will take a big cap hit to trade him. News flash to he & Rosenhaus, your interest is not the only consideration here!

Hes back on the draft special "i just want to focus on the draft" what that really means "im gonna keep taking half my time to talk about chad"

this idiot must be scared as shit of teams suing him, he keeps mentioning how hes heard of rumors from sources and NOT TEAMS....

today he is wearing a suit, still looks like a creep.

mcarey032 04-27-2008 12:24 AM

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

Most teams hate dealing with him, except one. . . us. Danny boy seems to love to deal with Rosenhaus and Rosenhaus has quite a few redskins players. I know that there is that Miami connection thing going, but I believe that he also has Cartwright as well. I agree that Rosenhaus should shut his mouth, but he desperately wants to put Chad Johnson in a redskins uniform. That seems like his ultimate goal, because he knows who spends the money in this league.

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

So what happens to a player's contract if he doesn't play at all? I know it still counts against the cap. Do they have to pay him anything? How much can they fine him?

SBXVII 04-28-2008 06:34 PM

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

No they don't have to pay him if he's not attending and I think the going rate is around $10,000. a day or more.

Hopefully, Ocho Cinco gets what he wants, but I think if the Skins would have picked him up, he would be a huge distraction. Just my opinion.

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

Now we don't have a need for Johnson. Let's move on.

sportscurmudgeon 04-30-2008 12:00 AM

Re: Rosenhaus Pleads With Cincy To Trade Johnson

If a player does not show up he does not get paid. In addition the team may fine him up to $14,000 per day he is "AWOL" according to the current CBA.

AND the team can go to arbitration to recover a pro-rata portion of his signing bonus/roster bonus too.

Of course Rosenhaus wants Cincy to trade Johnson. Rosenhaus gets paid on the basis of a percentage of the contract he negotiates for his clients. Think about it...

It's only a matter of time before the implosion in Cincy....unless STINKO stays home, which that tight bastard isn't doing! I'm very pleased that clown didn't land in DC and that the Bengals held their position, play for us or sit at home....BROKE!

Didn't this clown do an interview with ESPN recently where he said he would play this year for Cincy if it came down to it? I thought I had heard something to that effect on Sirius.

In essence don't trust whatever CJ says, because it's evident he hasn't made up his mind on the matter. One day he said he's coming in, the next he said he will still hold out if he feels like it.
