final prediction for #21
I'm going with Merling.
Who's yours? |
Re: final prediction for #21
Merling or if things fall right a trade down.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I am going with we trade it for Chad Johnson.

And I will die a little. |
Re: final prediction for #21
I'm feeling Merling as well w/a 2nd being one of the top cb's if they fall.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Just to make this exciting I'm going to say Limas Sweed...better yet, Mike Jenkins
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Jerod Mayo if he's still available, if not Phillip Merling.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Phillip Merling, my second choice would be they trade down.
Then again in the past we have made picks on guys that I had like absolutely no clue that we were interested in lol, last year I figured we were gonna go for a d-lineman or something because I didn't think safety was a big enough need to pick in the first round. Also, does anyone know where to find a copy of the new draft value chart that shows how much each pick is worth? I heard they came up with a new one this year because the old one made it too hard to trade up. |
Re: final prediction for #21
I don't really have a good gut feeling for where we really are at. And a late start to the Saturday draft day anything can happen.
If I had to guess IF we stay at '21' (which I doubt) I would say either Malcolm Kelly or Phillip Merling. But I have a feeling something will happen early in the day to get us out of the '21' spot one way or the other, just a guess. Who knows? One thing is for sure I'm really looking forward to the pre-draft coverage and see what moves or trades are going down and then checking out the draft. |

Smoot, I can't go w/Sweed, but I like the Jenkins call. As I mentioned in my earlier post, if one of the top cb's is still there (which I could see happening) I think they'll be hard to pass up. Not sure if we'd take talib though. |
Re: final prediction for #21
My pick....we trade down from the 21st.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I say trade the pick and get more picks for it if possible, then draft Trevor Laws. Laws can be used as a DE.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Merling, but just to go on record I predict the Skins will package their 2-20 and 3-21 for the Jets 2-5 pick and select Jordy Nelson.

What makes you think that Laws could be used as a DE? |
Re: final prediction for #21
I'm saying prayers Albert or Otah fall to us and the FO is farsighted enough to infuse talented youth on the o-line. The closer we get to watching games the more vivid my memories become of our demolished line last season.

limas sweed

We'd probably take Talib or DRC before Jenkins (if all were somehow available) quite honestly This is the first time in as long as I can remember that I didn't with 99% certainty know who the first pick of the Redskins was going to be the night before the draft. There are soooo many possibilities, it's driving me crazy. I wish the draft was at Noon |
Re: final prediction for #21
I don't understand why Merling is the popular choice. Some draft boards have him falling to the bottom of the 1st round because of his injury/risk-factor. On the other hand, our needs on the o-line are at least (more IMO) pressing than d-line, Cherilus looks like he will prolly be available at 21 but nobody here wants him. Is this kid considered a dud? I think every board has Pitt taking him at 23. Is that because he has a connection to the coaching staff or is expected to fit their system better? Anyone?
|
Re: final prediction for #21
And secondly, I see boards that don't have us taking an o-lineman in the first or second round. Does this seem plausible to any of you guys?
|
Re: final prediction for #21
quick question did we ever submit our mock draft to hailredskins.com
|
Re: final prediction for #21
In a great twist of events .. we trade our 21st pick and another early round pick next year for Boldin, i'm out here in AZ and he def wants out ... god help us if we end up with ocho cinco, BOLDIN is the real deal and worth all the marbles we got

Does to me. We don't need one superstud, we need multiple solid linemen. So in the third round you could draft McGlynn and Schuening which would be great. |
Re: final prediction for #21
P.Merling de would be fine or a cb like Talib or Jenkins .And in the 2nd round either a de , cb or olinemen .Possibly L.Jackson de ,T.porter cb or C.Rachel og .Then in the 3rd round a wr and either a lb or safety .

Re: final prediction for #21
I would say a trade down after Matt Ryan drops like Brady Quinn last year.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Cailis Campbell
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I'm still trippin' off the fact that our pick happened to fall at '21'...Sean Taylor is definitely watchin' this team...Hopefully we will turn that pick into something that will really help out the defense..I will probably cry tears of joy if whoever we pick plays with Taylor's passion.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I predict a trade with Baltimore for this year's second and next year's first, similar to what Cleveland gave up to get Brady Quinn last year.
If they stand pat I think Merling is a good guess, unless one of the five top Oline prospects remains. |
Re: final prediction for #21
i'm really hoping someone falls.
it looks like we might be stuck with kelly or sweed, due to good players being gone... if that's the case i'll be pretty pissed, cause neither one of those guys looks very good to me. I mean, if they fell to the 2nd, maybe, but i really just don't like them. honestly, merling doesn't really do much for me either, but at least he's a safer pick at a position of great need that looks like a real/legit nfl starter with some upside... he'll never be the sack magnet though. |

Im goin with Sweed at #21 as well |

Boldin is a beast, and a durable reciever, but I would like us to pick up a tall WR to increase our goaline options. How many times have you seen our famous "bootleg to Cooley" screen pass. |

Will you bet your sig on it? I'll give you any transaction via trade of the Redskins second round 51st overall pick to any other team in the NFL. I'll take the Skins keeping and using the pick for themselves. The wager is, the priviledge of writing something that will be displayed in the other person's signature box for a month. Can be demeaning or praising of the person who lost/won, your choice, nothing outwardly obtuse or profane. I'm good for it. Quote back by before the draft starts to let me know if you're in. I'm going up to FedEx for the draft party so I won't be available until later in the evening. Should give us something to look at until minicamp rolls around....let me know. |
Re: final prediction for #21
Limas Sweed, he bring size, and a big red zone target.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I don't think they're taking a WR, not with Boldin and Johnson's future with their current teams still in doubt. I think the safest bet is Merling but I won't be surprised to see Calais Campbell selected.
Honestly, for me I want the absolute best available playmaker available at any position except RB and QB. |
Re: final prediction for #21
I'll go with Merling...but I also have a feeling that something completely from left field could happen.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Merling. If he's gone before # 21, we trade down and look to take L. Jackson from USC with our first pick
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Just like with Landry, we are going to take the best available player in the draft, and if Merling is still there, I think we will take him.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
Merling or trade back. His sports hernia makes me nervous. I'd love to get Jordy in the 2nd, but I think he's gone by the time we pick. Good luck Vinny, may the Schwartz be with you.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
In a huge surprise move, we trade up and take either jake long, or glen dorsey.
|
Re: final prediction for #21
I think it's ridiculous that teams are shying away from Merling due to a sports hernia. If he slides to #21 he would be a steal.

Yeah especially since that hernia pretty much didnt even stop him and he was still awesome. Just imagine how he will be when he is playing without that hernia. He was only going 80% last season, and this year if we draft him, he will be even better at 100% week one. That hernia is probably going to be key to him not going in the top 10. *edit* I just read a Washington Post article that said Merling would be a top 10 pick if it wasnt for his hernia. lol. I should be a writer huh? |
