Re: John Daly - physical specimen
He is a redneck with a god given gift to play a gentleman's game. I guess thats why people like him so much and he has such a large following. I will have to say I enjoy watching him when he is playing good but he is wasting his talent on bozzzzz.

Re: John Daly - physical specimen
How can you even swing a club correctly with a gut like that?
|
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
Grip it, and RIP it!!
-John |
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
Proof that golf is not a sport.
|
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
I always liked Daly and his "grip it and rip it" attitude. What a waste to see someone throw that kind of talent away.

It's not a sport? What is it? Seen Tiger Woods lately, doesn't look to much like JD and happens to be the best golfer on the planet. |
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
athletes play sports, I don't know what to classify golf as but JD sure as hell isn't an athlete.

There are a few NFL players who probably look like that with their shirts off... |

But I'm sure they don't live on a diet of marb reds and bud cans |

Point taken...I'm not really advocating either way. I enjoy golf, but it's a hobby; I don't think of myself as an athlete because I hit the ball a long way. Just playing Devil's Advocate. |
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
I hear ya, I'm just busting on JD. Golf is definitely not easy in the least bit. You have to be talented and he can definitely hit a golf ball.

speaking of John Daly... |
Re: John Daly - physical specimen
We're talking about him, so his little stunt was a success.
This guy was never really any good, and yet we all know his name and his background. Sounds like his agent is a genius. |

Was John Kruk an athlete? Was David Wells? Was Gilbert Brown of the Packers? Of course JD is an athlete. You don't have to be in shape to be an athlete. Athlete: noun a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill. |

John has a ton of talent he just has not put it to good use. He lacks the mental part of the game but if you watch him play he has some of the best hands in golf. he is known for his long drives but he has a great short game. His biggest problem is when he makes a bad shot he does not know how to just bite the bullet and cut his losses. Instead he tries to hit that shot again or tries something stupid. His agent has never really had to market John just let John be John the redneck pro golfer. |

Re: John Daly - physical specimen

Things keep going downhill for Clemens and I have to say I love it. |

He's probably having the biggest Non-OJ fall from grace of any pro athlete I can remember. |

Second to O.J., I don't know about that one Mike Vick comes to my mind as one of the biggest falls from grace in such a small period of time in history, how quickly he not only fell but went to prison. The Rocket hasn't quite had the fall yet, but it surely appears to be full speed in the works. |

I agree with you 100%. The guy has more talent then 99% of the world. Could you just imagine if he took his game seriously like Tiger? He would have been a legend. Just because someone is out of shape doesn’t mean there not coordinated or skilled enough to be considered an athlete. There are millions of skinny people out there that couldn't even jump a rope. Is someone more of an athlete because they might look the part more then someone like JD? I'll take the fat guy that can play on my team every time over some guy with a six pack that can't. |

The current tally includes a 15 year old country singer, John Daly's ex, a real estate agent in Pennsylvania, and a bartender in Manhattan. |
