I'm in Jersey heaven....***Updated With Pics***

I have been stationed in Japan for a total of 6 days now, and I've just found the hidden source of my happiness since arriving here. You've seen the jersey's on e-bay that make you ask yourself if this could be true , well I think I found the "motherload". Today I went over the jersey's trying to spot as many flaws as possible, and after becoming pretty comfortable with it, I bought a Green, and Monk stiched jersey. For 30 bucks each. They have the throwback tags and all.
Would you feel like your cheating them out of money? Or would you continue to buy..... I'm on the fence on this one.

Well they are 'fakes' so I wouldn't feel like you were cheating anyone out of money. Hell, Reebok cheats you out of money every time you buy an actual Reebok jersey. Just know that the money isn't going to the NFLPA and the workers who produce the jerseys most likely do so in pretty poor conditions (though I can't say how much better Reebok facilities are because I don't know).

I would love to "take orders", but I think that can come with black market laws. We just had a breifing on all that stuff yesterday, so I don't think that will be happening anytime soon. But, I'm glad you guys fell like I do on the subject, and as soon as I get my computer and camera out of shipping, then I'll post come pics and I'll let you guys critique them.

Semper Fi buddy. I take it that you are there with your spouse. I was stationed at Camp Hansen in Oki back in 89-90. Are you on the main-land (Japan) or Okinawa? If you are in Okinawa, try to do as much sight-seeing of the World War II sites as you can. Oh yeah, thanks for your service to our country leather neck.

I know how you are feeling. I was in Korea for a year in 1994-1995 and I remember asking myself should I buy knowing that they weren't the real deal or just ignore. I went with the buying cuz if it lasted good and if it didn't we knew they were fake so it didn't bother us.

Like I said, you should consider the ethical question of the sort of labor practices you are supporting with your dollars. I'm not sure what Reebok's employment practices are or what sort of conditions their workers operate under in South Korea, El Salvador, and the other areas where they get their jersey shells (I think Reebok subcontracts that work and they have a warehouse in Indianapolis where they do much of the final customization on manufactured jerseys, with other companies doing after-market customizations for NFL.com, Dicks, etc. - Stahl's and Exclusive Pro Sports primarily, with gamers produced in total in Berlin, Wisconsin). Unfortunately, in our consumer culture the product is too often decoupled from the labor (i.e. human production) necessary to create it so we (myself included) only think about getting a "good" price rather than the social implications of those dollars.

(even more serious implications than I indicated above. If you don't care about Chinese workers, then maybe think about the American employees who lose out at Reebok's plant in Indiana or the tax dollars that don't go into the U.S. Treasury. Plus the other implications about who actually gets the money at the end of the line.)

I'm not going to touch on the ethical issues, all I did was buy some jersey's. As for taxex, if I would have bought them at the local Military exchange, taxes wouldn't have been paid either.

The above two links are exactly why I said I couldn't/wouldn't take orders for you guys.

I agree I've seen these jerseys worn by people at games, etc and I certainly wouldnt wear them if they were given to me. That being said the great Matty once said that all that matters when buying a jersey is if you like it. So if thats what you like go for it, but for me no thanks. I appreciate the replica and authentic jerseys that I have to pay the $75 for. These are bad fakes IMO just look at the sleeves (arm bands). Good luck.

I saw a bunch of people wearing them at the preseason game last night. They look terrible. When has the team ever had their emblem on the shoulder? If you're going to be a fan of a team, don't disgrace them by buying a piece of garbage that doesn't even look like the actual team jersey. I know official team merchandise is more expensive, but I don't mind giving a donation to the team once in a while.

I like your fine print.

If someone can't afford the 75 bucks then buy a t-shirt. If they can't afford a t-shirt then how did they get into the game?

Buying one of those jerseys is like buying Adidas with four stripes from K-Mart.

Actually, I was a four stripe Adidas kid and Cons from K-mart.

I didn't say that you had to buy a T-shirt AT the game. I was just giving alternatives to buying Japanese jerseys. Boy, people are sensative this morning.

Re: I'm in Jersey heaven....

I agree, paying full retail for jerseys is unthinkable. But the thing is, if you are patient and spend some time doing a little leg work, you can find deals. You really shouldn't ever have to spend more than $30 for a replica and I have bought and sold numerous authentics in the $100 range ... and I am talking about the actual Reebok retail authentics not fakes or specialjersey.com numbers. Hell, Redskins.com had authentics for $75 on draft weekend. No reason why you should support counterfeiters, dubious labor practices, and funnel dollars to lord knows who. I mean, corporations can do some bad things, and sure DS has a lot of money (though, in fairness, he does seem to funnel a lot of that back into the team), but that is a lot better than sweatshops employing young children or having your dollars potentially end up in the hands of terrorist organizations.

Plus, you won't look ridiculous. So really everyone wins in the end. And while eBay has a whole of of pitfalls, here are a couple of auctions that look totally legit to me (man, there are not many, that is literally all I could find, though there are a few more in the stores section). (None are mine).

Yeah I pretty much buy replica's. I can't justify that much money on a real one. Plus I stopped buying jerseys. As soon as I pick up someone's they start sucking, get hurt, or are traded.

If you are an NFL palyer and see me buying your jersey it would be in your best interest to pay me not to buy your jersey. =)

I hear you. These are the last several jerseys that I have purchased for myself:

1) Champ Bailey
2) LaVar Arrington
3) Sean Taylor

and, this year, I'll be sporting this:

At least that looks like the real thing. Replicas are great if they look like the team that you're supporting. The ones that need the Redskins emblem on the shoulder just so you can identify what team's jersey it is supposed to be like, not so good.

My friends, friends mother gave him a Laveranues Coles Jersey for his past birthday so you can find deals. It was funny when he held it up and that lady just seemed so joyful with her gift to him that nobody said a thing. She shows up to a few Skins party and everyone keeps asking my buddy "why don't you have on your Coles jersey". Finally this lady asked why wasn't Coles playing and someone said he was no longer on the team. She said she didn't read about it in the news paper and when did we let him go. Someone yeld out about 4 years ago and we all started laughing. She did not even believe us and she had to go to a computer to look into this and then was mad because she paid $65.00 for his Jersey.
