July 4th plans?

What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

I see some BBQ and lots of beer on the horizon for me. :)

Re: July 4th plans?

Tomorrow will be a quiet evening with my wife and kid, where we'll grill something and watch local fireworks.

Saturday night, we have our monthly game night with 2 other couples, where I'll drink bourbon, scotch and beer (Thanks George Thorogood) and make an ass out of myself playing Pictionary, Cranium or whatever board game we decide to play. I believe the hosts are making Korean BBQ Spareribs and Vietnamese Fried Rice. Not sure what one has to do with the other, but it sounds good.

Usually we go to the beach for the 4th, but it wasn't in the cards this year...

I'll be in Baltimore at a friend's place we're we'll have a bunch of crabs, Natty Bohs, and other barbecue-esque food. Also, we'll probably be able to see the fireworks from her place, so we may watch them from there.

Staycation for me. I am buying a new Driver and Woods and going to the Driving range. Of coarse I will have the Typical all American BBQ at the house topped off with a Fireworks display at the University of Maryland. After that I am all about relaxation and some Tiger Woods 08.

That was the idea. My gf is from Louisiana and has never had real crabs (they boil them in LA (terrible)) and we were thinking, "what better day than the 4th." So all of us visited home last weekend so that we could get together and have some crabs on the 4th, and if we're having crabs in B-More, how can you not drink Natty Boh?

It's gonna be awesome!

Re: July 4th plans?

We gather at a friends house which about 45 people will show up and the good part is we can walk to his house. We will have ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the other stuff that goes with them. We will drink plenty of beer and then light off fireworks. It become a tradition and everyone in the area will meet out front and about 5 other guys will wheel down some pretty good fireworks. I bet we set of around $3,000 worth of fireworks with everyone chipping in a few to light off. Its illegal in Va. but even the local fire department drives down in one of their trucks to watch the show, Heck last year we had them and two police cars sitting and watching. All of the neighbors come out and they even invite friends to come and sit out in their yards to watch the show. We keep it safe and the kids and wife's stay clear of fireworks which we light off the street. The next day we spend about an hour cleaning up all the mess the fireworks make.

I'll be at my mom and stepfather's place on the lake. Just grillin and chillin.

I will also spend a good part of the day making excuses to my mom why I don't want to go out on their pontoon boat with them. She gets irritated when I don't join in with what everyone else is doing. On the 4th, the lake is crowded, the water's rougher and my stepfather can't drive that boat worth a crap. He scares the snot out of me trying to park that thing. I'd much rather spend my time on the shore.

Just BBQing. I also have to work from 7am to 3pm but hey, its time and a half, so I'm not complaining.

Btw, the awesome fireworks (i.e. the ones that explode in the air) aren't sold in DC or MD, yet people in my block always manage to wrangle some every year.

If anyone knows in DC, MD, NoVA where I can get some last minute illegals, I'd love to know!

(Yes, I'm a bad girl. :))

closest place for you is PA. You take 95N to 70W about 40 mins past hagerstown and you'll see the signs for phantom fireworks.

I actually picked up some awesome fireworks at some close-to-wholesale prices in MO on my way back from Iowa. There are huge fireworks warehouse stores at almost every exit on whatever interstate we were on (not sure if we had hit 64 yet...) and competition brings some great prices. Also, most of the guys are complete rednecks and will sell you a smal amount of class b stuff without a license if you slip them a twinkie! Got some 3" mortars this year...

You should just have a couple of shots of Tequila and go with... I'd kill to go out on a boat and watch some fireworks.

We're having a fish fry cooking up some of the fish we brought back from Minnesota a few weeks ago. Crappie, Walleye and lots of Bass. Also setting of lots of fireworks, chilling in the pool, drinking Patron, red beers, and black and tans, and smoking some good cigars. Gonna be a good day.
