RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
There continues to be nothing on the Favre-to-DC front, but this is an intriguing read. The NFL is reviewing videotapes for signs of players making gang signs. You guys watch a lot of fubball; is this a problem? Back to Favre patrol.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
I dont think its a problem now. Goodell is all about the league's public image. IMO it serves no purpose letting the media know they are checking for this except to improve/maintain a positive public perception.
***And whats this about Favre? I have been locked in a closet for the past 3 weeks. Seriously though, I love Favre, but time to go away old man. |
Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
I think this...
is Shockey's way of flashing his gang's signs. "What gang might that be?" you ask... |

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
I have seen player do these finger signs which I thought looked like stuff you see gangs do but was not sure. If you watch any MTV you know the signs and I think its one of the right things for the NFL to eliminate. Maybe they could train the Ref's to all the gang signs and call a 15 yard penalty for any infraction. The Ref would throw the flag show the sign the player made then which gang it was associated to then walk off the 15 yards.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
How about you invite a member from each gang to stand on the sidelines (don't let them see each other, of course). That should have a chilling effect.

For instance, this might look like a gang sign to someone who doesn't know any better: But it's actually a gesture for McNair's college fraternity. |

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
LOL what gang signs get flashed on MTV??
|
Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
Seems to me that brining this to light publically is sorta dumb. I had no idea that players were flashing gang signs and really doubt it is all that prevalent. For just casual fans I bet they now think it is some major problem. I might have done this more quietly.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
Darnerian McCants was famous for throwing up signs when he was here.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
I know this isn't the NFL, but there is some shit going on in the NBA with Paul Pierce (my favorite player). He threw up a blood sign during a game to the opposing bench. I guess the league officials saw that of figured that it's probably been happening in the NFL for years.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
If you remember a few years back the NFL banned that throat slashing gesture that got so popular.
|
Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
sounds to me like it's the league's way of taking more fun out of the game like they have in td celebrations.

Re: RI: The NFL Looks for Gang Signs
Don't you guys throw these signs up all the time? The cool kids do it! Don't do too much though cause they cause repetitive strain syndrome.
