Redskins uniforms for 2008
No alternate uniforms are planned for this year, but I thought this was interesting. Apparently the plan is to wear the white jerseys with burgundy pants for the first half of the year at home, and the burgundy jerseys with white pants for the 2nd half of the year.
We’ll be wearing the white jerseys with the burgundy pants at home until, I think, the Pittsburgh game. After that, burgundy with white pants. - Brad Berlin equipment manager
Back to the Equipment Room: Brad on Jersey Colors, etc. « The Official Blog of The Washington Redskins |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
hmm...kinda messes with tradition in my opinion doesn't it?

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
That's screwed

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
Time for a new tradition.
When it comes to playing style and emphasis, Zorn represents a clear break with Gibbsian philosophy in that he is not trying to "recapture" Gibbs' magic. Rather, it seems to me he is intent on creating his own. I am cool with this. I LIKE our burgundy jerseys. |

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
This is Zorn's team, let him make his own traditions.
Just please no burgundy on burgundy or white on white, we would look like a college team. |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I like it. Only getting to see burgundy in Dallas and Tampa is getting old. They're great looking jerseys and we only wear them twice tops every year.
As long as we don't do all white again, I am fine with it. :) |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
They wear the burgundy jerseys at least twice a year, at Philly and at Dallas.
|
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I like both uniforms. I'm not as used to seeing the team wear burgundy since they only seem to wear it twice a year. But I like it and would like to see it more often.

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
More yellow pants please.

I read that this was Zorn's plan partly to combat the heat at the beginning of the season. |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
they can play with tutus on as long aas they win!!!
|
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
Well, I guess once we hit the Pittsburgh game, we will be Burgandy on top and White down low for the rest of the season, because those are our road unis and everyone else will wear white tops at home. The only negative I see is the Home game against the Cowboys on 11/16, will see our Skins in Red tops and let the Cowboys wear their White tops (home look) at our place. I don't know if I like that too much.

AGREED!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I'm reading it as 1st half of yr white tops at home burgandy away. 2nd half burgandy at home and white away. My first thought was ...This might screw the confrence teams. Meaning when we play Dallas, Philli, and NY at home in white the first half of the yr we get to screw them in their home at the second half of the yr wearing white away. ....am I wrong? Basically we get to wear the collor the team likes best against opposing teams at home and away. maybe I read to much into it.

Say what? Home team gets to choose what they wear, simple as that. |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
As long as we win the superbowl we can dress up in a paper bag with dry erase marker colored numbers
|
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I dig the burgundy jerseys and I wish we would wear them more. I hate the whit eon white. I've always wanted to see burgundy on burgundy though.

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I thought I read somewhere Gibbs prefered the white because it was easier for the QB's to identify the WR quicker during a game. Especially with the burgandy wall around the field. I think later in the season we will be seeing more burgandy due to the away team usually wanting to wear white at home probably.
Also,...Where's the yellow and black? reds ok but you can't leave out the yellow and black. LOL. |
Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
I'd like to see burgandy on burgandy. Maybe even throw in some gold pants. I like how Zorn is making his own mark. The Redskins current uni's were made famous through Gibbs. I don't have a problem with Zorn wanting to etch his mark in the Redskins history. Just my opinion.

Re: Redskins uniforms for 2008
Burgundy jersey. Gold Pants. Traditional helmet. Looks friggin' sharp!

LOL.
I read the same thing, but I believe it was because at RFK, there were long shadows from the rafters that stretched into the endzone, and with the burgundy jerseys the receivers were harder to see. I don't think they have that problem at Fed Ex. Personally, I'd like to see the burgundy jerseys and white pants at home for every game except Dallas -- you know, just to screw with them. |
