Good thread. I'd been debating putting this up as well (although I was going to make it public and offer up a "haven't decided yet" option as well).

We should refresh the poll after each debate and see if opinion changes.

I haven't done an Understanding the Issues thread lately, but I did notice about a month ago that it was fairly evenly split among Warpathians whether they thought McCain or Obama had the right idea/plan on various issues.

Can you truly be undecided at this point? I suppose if you haven't been paying attention at all it makes sense but if you have been I don't know how one could still be undecided.

I am, to me there is pros/cons on both sides. I am far from clueless on all this, just haven't made my final decision.

Isn't Sarah Palin running for President now? John who? Matt Damon might have put it best so far. Think about it? Are we really going to gamble the future of this great country in a matchup between Sarah Palin and Vladimir Putin. It's absurd. Palin seems like a fine politician, but John McCain is so desperate to win that he has really put our country into a real mess. He met this woman once. Bad news.

I agree. Its definitely the Sarah Palin Show and McCain is just the dude in the back doing makeup and set design.

I'd vote for Obama, only because I've been on his bandwagon and following his coverage religiously since day one.

But I must admit at this rate, everyone sucks. Obama can't say something without it being borderline controversial and McCain won't say anything at all (and take the main reigns from Palin) and she can't keep her mouth shut and let McCain do what he's supposed to be doing.. Running from president. Remember that? :doh:

I hear they've had to send search and rescue to look for Biden. Now you know what I meant by "YAWN" SmootSmack. The rumours now are that he will develop some health issue and Obama will bring Hillary (and Bill) on board to try and save his bacon, as it were.

I'm voting for Obama. This will be the first time in 724Skinsfan's history that he has ever voted in any election, including high school student body.

McCain.

- Obama's healthcare plan, while noble, has no chance of getting put in place. Sometimes reality has to trump vision.

- Obama's platform for bringing the troops home from Iraq now is kind of losing steam, given that Bush and Petraeus have started setting the stage for pulling troops out.

- I'd rather have McCain in charge of our military than Obama.

- I'm in danger of getting hit by the alternative minimum tax sometime within this upcoming presidential term, and McCain is the only one suggesting we do away with it. That will mean a difference of several thousand bucks a year for me and my family. And yes, at least a portion of everyone's vote is selfish!

- Alternative energy is great and should be pursued, but I see no reason why we shouldn't use our own petroleum resources immediately. Drilling now makes sense, in conjunction with the search for other energy sources. It's not like drilling precludes us from also investing in other sources.

- McCain's economic and tax ideas make more sense. History shows tax revenue collected by the federal government is generally higher when policies similar to McCain's are put in place.

- Obama wants to stop jobs from being shifted overseas, yet he wants to raise taxes on businesses. Um, hello. The reason companies ship the jobs overseas in the first place is because the labor costs are way cheaper. If you increase taxes on them here in this country you're just adding more weight to that burden. You're actually incenting them to headquarter themselves elsewhere.

it affects us more than it affects them, so i'm not too concerned with that. besides, 4 years from now that'll probably change anyways - they have yet to deal with him on any policy issue whatsoever.

You are not running for president sir...if you were, I'd say the same about you. Out of love and respect for your country you put your hand over your heart. He knows this, he doesn't do it for a reason. Unsure of where the propaganda is here...it's pretty straight forward. I watched your link, but that doesn't explain WHY he didn't put his hand over his heart, just trying to downplay it. Cause 1- did it happen? YES. 2- Does Obama explain why he didn't do it, NO. Hmmmmmm. Sounds like Democratic propaganda to do damage control.

See the video i posted, explains it there. There are plenty of times where he puts his hand on his heart for the pledge. And for the anthem its always 50-50, next time you go to a game or anything like that just look around. Seems like 50% of America don't think that means you don't love your country.

I am just shocked that people have to go so far outta their way to find a "negative" when they could just look at policy. But hey it's just politics, Dems do it too and I hate it as well. Just this whole terrorist, not an-american, hates our country bs from the right really irritates me. I didn't mind the Kerry is a flip-flopper deal so much. This just seems like a low-blow.

I support Obama and I will vote for him in November, but I have my reservations about him and his policies. I also don't care for the vilification of McCain and Palin. This is by no means a slam dunk decision.

I'm sure all those people overseas has our best interest at heart and not their own. If you have not seen the news Biden admitted that Hillary would have made a better VP and I'm sure Obama loved that statement.

I guess it's too much to ask the candidates to stick to the issues when the people clearly cannot.

Everyone hates the propaganda machine but it obviously works when you see people buying in to the stupidest shit.

I will keep this short and sweet.

If I still believed that our role and involvement in Iraq was necessary and we needed a strong Commander in Chief then I would be voting for McCain.

Right now America is in more debt that it ever has been, the value of the dollar is down, and the economy sucks (not to mention the value of my mutual funds). I am voting for Obama to get us out of this mess.

Fact: according to Ali Velshi of CNN "The economy is the strongest with a Democratic president and a Republican Congress"

It helps if the people we're dealing with have confidence in our leadership if you feel otherwise you're a sticks only person.
