Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
last night's game was a real slugfest, but i was left wondering about how good each team's defense was? clearly, both teams have great offense, but
i thought defenses looked awful.is this the way they are gonna be or can it just be the adrelaine of a slugfest was too much for the defenses last night? since we have to play each on the road in the next month,do you guys think we match up as well against them as they did against each other last night? are we good enough to slug it out with them yet? |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
When you have 2 teams with high powered offenses that's what happens. I still say both of those teams have pretty good defenses, you can't evaluate them by one game. Look at the Skins in pre-season's loss to Carolina.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
I think it was just one of those games where the offenses were clicking. They still both have good defenses. They're not going to play games like that every week.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Very good. We just have to keep T.O. and Westbrook under wraps when we play them.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
all i know is that neither team will be putting up 35+ points......if ur name is not the 2007 Tom Brady Patriots then that just doesn't happen against our defense I dont care who we have on the roster.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Cowboys are playing two teams on the field, the opposition and themselves.
They have WAY TOO many penalties that extend drives. And they have 3 turnovers in 2 games. Take away one turnover and half of the penalties from that Monday night game, and the score is not as close. |

I hope you are right, because as I watched the O's going at it, I got that feeling in my stomach, like when you hit the peak at the top of a killer roller coaster, just before descent................I still have it!!! |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
philly hs that revamped secondary, and dallas passed all over that.the pokes let mcnab look like the flash out there in terms of containment.phily's receivers are decent at best,
and there is no way they are as good as either ours or dallas.last night they looked like the 2nd coming of art monk, jerry rice and irvin.and somebody forgot to tell the eagles that witten cathes passes frequently too.romo ate them up just passing to witten and not counting barber and the wrs. |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Both QB's had very good protection and since they are both very good QB's you are going to see a high scoring game. Dallas and Philly have the #1 and #2 biggest Olines in the NFL. We will have to find a way to get to those QB's.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Dont forget to add in fluke plays like the romo fumble for TD and the kickoff return.
What you saw in the second half of the game is what you will see the rest of the year. |

McNabb sacked = 4 Romo sacked = 0 Dallas defense missed TONS of sacks in the backfield. Credit half of those misses to McNabbs elusiveness and the rest to poor tackling by the Dallas "D". |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Neither of the Ds scare me. I didn't watch last night beyond the chick getting booed after butchering the national anthem. I've never seen anyone get booed singing that bt my wife says she was all cocky and looked incredibly conceited as she was horribly mutilating the national anthem.
Enough digression... Dallas has the opportunity to field a great D with the personell, but I'm not sure they're gonna realize that potential. As far as matching up against us I seriously doubt they're gonna rack up 30+ on our D. One of them may do that 1 time early in the season, but it would be the exception not the rule. Our division is gonna be tough but we have a chance to compete definitely. |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
One thing I noticed is that both play callers are so damn aggressive it's not even funny. Philly is playing with scrub WR's and they have the pedal to the medal the whole game. There is no horizontal passing game in Philly's west coast offense what so ever. And McNabb and the Philly O-line makes it all go. I think it just shows you if you have those two things going for you then you can have a good passing offense w/out big time wr's.
Same thing with Dallas. These two teams simply don't belive in throwing 5 yard passes. |

I was amazed at how easily Philly moved the ball through the air with back up wr's. I think Philly wins if Mcnabb doesn't fumble the ball. |

He was a total bust in Ariz and I could not believe Jones threw all that money at him last year. But he's moved down to guard and has been a stud. |

did anybody else get sick last night listening to tony kornheiser kiss jerry jones billion dollar a$$ last night?the game was great, but his announcing made me sick.

Did not hear that. I was too busy cussing or cheering, depending on what quarter the game was in. |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
They are both real good. McNabb looks healthy again. He's the best-worst QB ever. He just buys time w/ his athleticism until someone gets wide open and then chucks it. It annoys the hell out of me (not last night, but against the skins). That's why when he gets hurt he looks average at best b/c he can't hit in the pocket passes consistently. Hey, he does a great job at what he does best though. Two of his top WR's are out too.
I can only hope our D can look a little better than the two last night against the rest of the division. |

I actually thought he was poking fun at the Cowboys too at times, whenever he praised them he would always note that they haven't won a playoff game in forever. I think he was trying to make the point that they are all hype. |

How long can it be before THE Dan looks to build the sequel to Cowboy world (currently construction in D)? Is he not looking to move back to DC? |

Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
All I know is that Smoot, Springs, Rogers, Landry, and Horton will have to be at the top of their game for this team to be competitve in the upcoming NFC East games. The Cardinals will be a good test to get them prepared.
Andre Carter and Jason Taylor need to turn into a two-man wrecking crew on the ends as well. |

Is he not looking to move back to DC?[/quote] FedEx is not that old. It would have to be when the life expentantcy of FedEx is at or nears it's end before even considering building a new stadium. |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
but snyder loves spending money though.i can see him in some way trying to build a domed stadium in and around the va/dc area.he wants a superbowl in dc,and the only way that will happen is if there is a dome stadium there.i'm sure it would help his ego to know that in the future if he does get a superbowl in dc,that folks will be remembering him well past his life for it.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Snyder has said in interviews no new stadium at least until the current lease runs out (20yrs from now). And I would say both putting the Skins back in DC and bringing a Superbowl here are good goals to shoot for, so why make it look like Snyder is just trying to build his ego? I don't get it.

I am not too sure about that! The Danny loves to spend the $$$ and the city of DC would welcome the team back with the right deal. I could forsee something going down in the next 5-7 years. |

Don't forget that the Redskins have a lease with the city for FedEx field. Paying for that stadium is mostly in the hands of team generated revenues. If those revenues go to another stadium, the next foreclosure will be on FedEx field. And Snyder would get sued to his tennis shoes to pay the remaining costs. There will be no new stadium until the lease expires on FedEx. |
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
We Have A Better Secondary Then Either Of Those Teams
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
I heard today in the radio how both Dallas and Philly fielded secondaries that have first round draft choices (i.e. Pacman Jones, Lito Sheppard) and/or high money free agents acquisition (i.e. Asante Samuel). I think it was interesting how both QB lit up the other team's secondary. Hopefully our team saw something in this game and find a way to exploit these secondaries. Also, I hope our secondary passes a big test they are going to have this Sunday against the Cards.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
it was a shootout for sure and the skins can,t afford a shootout in my opinion.
both the eagles and the boyz have some firepower but i,d say the boyz have more and that presents us with potential problems but in this division anything goes....cause i think the nfc east is getting back to it,s roots again.. but the monday night game was great but the popcorn i had wasn,t too good, lol should be an interesting year in this division thats for sure.wait and see. |

Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
I don't think we will know how good they are until they play someone we have played or when they play us. We held the Giants to only 16 points. Then the Giants score some 40 points on the Rams. What I'm getting at is I'm betting our D-fense is better then we think and our offense is getting better on their learning curve. If our D can hold Dallas or the Eagles to low scores then we have a chance to compete. Although it was a shoot out between both the Eagles and Dallas their D-fense did not impress me with their stopping abilities. I only hope our D can find a way to stop them or slow them considerably to allow us to score more then them.
|
Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
Both teams are as only good as their last game... They like all teams will have their ups and downs... just look at how Dallas fell apart two years straight in the playoffs.
The NFC East is the most difficult, toughest, division there is...The Skins will do battle in the division and will take a share of victories too this season....No worries. |

Re: Eagles & Cowboys how good are they?
You guys are pipe-dreaming if you think that the Redskins will have a new stadium before the lease expires with the city.
Because you know who will foot the bill if Snyder leaves FedEx early for a new stadium wiggle room or not? The taxpayers, that's who. The taxes will be raised to pay for a stadium that no one will be using. Then if you think game tickets are expensive now, just wait until Snyder moves early to this "new" stadium you speak of and has to pay MILLIONS in penalties. You think Snyder is going to pay that? Nope, it will be you, the die hard Redskin fan when Snyder jacks up the ticket prices to not only pay for the new stadium you are dreaming about, but also jacks the prices up more to pay for the fines and penalties he will inherit for breaking the lease with the city. |

Nobody wanted that stadium there. Real Estate in that location is not too shabby. I'm sure that they could work something out to put something else there, that would generate weekly revenue and reduce the Sunday Traffic in Landover. Maybe a mall, a couple of parking garages, and a small airport? |

That does not answer the question of how FedEx will be paid for. Just because a stadium gets torn down for a mall of an airport does not make the cost of the stadium go away. Someone will still have to pay for it. Where does it come from? Not that mall or airport you speak of, those monies will be used towards operating costs of the airport and mall. If Snyder pulls out of FedEx early for a new stadium, who pays for FedEx? That debt does not go away, someone (probably the fans, and definitely the taxpayers) will be paying that bill. |
