The kid needs a reality check if he was surprised by coachs' decision.

SUNRA 08-30-2004 08:30 PM

It was Ramsey's job for the taking and he didn't even show up.

EEich 08-30-2004 08:31 PM

I'll give Ramsey 2 or 3 spot injury starts.

EEich 08-30-2004 08:32 PM

I don't believe that... Joe brought Brunell in here to be the starter and gave him starter's money.

either way, GIbbs gave both the opportunity to take the position and Brunell clearly outplayed him. I still think Ramsey can be good, just not this year. He just looked somewhat lost out there. I am happy with Brunell....for now

SUNRA 08-30-2004 09:16 PM

After watching Testeverde throw his first TD, I'm reminded of what Ramsey has improve on if he is to be consistent in the NFL. Go footwork. Testeverde's old ass is moving around in the pocket and stepping up to make the pass. He floats alot of balls which makes it easy to intercept. But Ramsey should be given a serious regimen in speed and foot training.

Daseal 08-30-2004 09:17 PM

Yeah, I agree it was Brunell's spot to begin with (not that I agreed with that) but Ramsey just couldn't hang with Brunnell in a competition. Neither QB made me feel confident in what we have, hopefully once the full play book is revealed things will start to come into focus.

The key to our success is the offensive line. We have to give Brunell time in the pocket and open a hole for Portis.

Daseal 08-30-2004 09:49 PM

Key to our success is taking shots down field so we can get pass intereference calls =p

sportscurmudgeon 08-30-2004 10:42 PM

Brunell starts every game except where he is nicked. Figure on Brunell in there for 14 games...

SKINSnCANES 08-30-2004 11:09 PM

I put all sixteen. His Gibbs man, and Ramsey has a lot to learn. . If Ramsey cant throw to a receiver before he turn or completes a route then cut him as far as im concerned..

Out of curiosity, why does everyone assume Brunnell will be injured, what makes you think hes such an injury prone qb. He was injured for what, 2 or 3 games last year. They just didnt put him back becuase thye wanted leftwich to play. I dont know his exact numbers but how many times has brunell been injured in his career, I didnt think it had been taht many.

MTK 08-30-2004 11:26 PM

If he gets injured it's not going to be because he's getting smacked around. He'll be well protected. I see Brunell having a very solid season and starting at least 14 games.

That Guy 08-30-2004 11:41 PM

10-15, i'm not sure gibbs is big on switching out qbs mid-season, but there's always a chance that something could happen...

they did the right thing though, i don't think anyone can argue against brunell starting from what we've seen.

skinsfanthru&thru 08-31-2004 01:21 AM

I voted for all 16 cuz bugel's crew and gibb's playcalling is gonna keep brunnel in a standing position a whole more than we're used to seeing a skins qb in recent years. brunnels only missed 11 games before being replaced by leftwich last year since he became a starter for jacksonville in 1995, but I'm not sure how many of those were injury related or possibly being held out with a playoff spot already locked or whatnot, so to say he's injury prone doesn't really make a whole lot of sense from those numbers. In fact if i were a betting man I'd say he has a consecutive start streak going sometime deep into next year.

skinsfanthru&thru 08-31-2004 01:57 AM

meant to put "a whole lot more" in my first sentence and not just a whole more, lol.

damn heat and lack of sleep

jbcjr14 08-31-2004 08:16 AM

1-4, Brunell is old and his blind side will be exposed in week 3 vs. the Cowpokes. Hell, Ramsey might even go down in that one as the back up. Better sure up the right side of the O Line or Brunell will not stand up very long.

skins009 08-31-2004 11:44 AM

I think it is a blessing that Brunnel is starting. Ramsey needs time to learn. He is the future, and the future looks bright with Ramsey.

Brunell - 8 year career, missed a total of seven games. I thought I heard that somewhere.

Redskins_P 08-31-2004 11:50 AM

16. Our o-line will protect him, and with the running game he should be fine. Also, no shotgun formations in Gibbs playbook. It's all about max protection.

is that not including last year I assume? I just read that he had two concusions since 2000. And that was all I could find about his injury history.

He'll be protected well, if he gets injured it will be a freak thing, somethign that could happen to anyone. I just hope everyone gets on teh same page and learns the system fast because we definitly have a ton of threats on offense.

Redskins_P 08-31-2004 12:11 PM

Now that everyone knows who the starter is, everything should start coming together. Gibbs already said that he's concentrating on getting the timing right between the QB and WR's. I'm sure we'll see alot more passes this Friday. But, I think by week 3 or 4 our offense will be firing on all cylinders.

Canes, check this out.....looks like he only played one full season in 2000. the rest he missed at least 1-3 games.

SKINSnCANES 08-31-2004 12:20 PM

yea just 96 and 00 he played all sixteen. With the expection of last year he played atleast 15 during the last five years... well lets hope that if he does get banged up this year its later in the year and that ramsey starts to develope real fast.

joethiesmanfan 08-31-2004 02:05 PM

Brunnell will start all 19 games... !!!!

MTK 08-31-2004 02:07 PM

I like your thinking JTF

ChounsMan 09-02-2004 02:50 PM

I like Brunell opening the season. He's got more experience & we really need a proven winner behind center. Ramsey is very talented & will eventually take the role from Brunell, but Ramsey has the chance now to watch Gibb's system from the sideline & learn it well.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-03-2004 06:24 PM

guys, joe gibbs does not play musical quarterbacks.i see brunell starting all 16 games as long as the skins are competitive in each game and as long as he is not injured.in gibbs 1st season, theismann started every game and started every game until that dreadful monday night hit in 1985 by LT that ended his career.ramsey better get used to carrying the clipboard and learning gibbs system.by the way he has played this preseason,,he does'nt deserve to be second string.hassleback has outplayed him,IMO.

Gmanc711 09-03-2004 06:38 PM

WAIT A DAMN MINTUE. Are you THEEE Bigredskinsfan63???

That Guy 09-04-2004 02:03 AM

hasselbeck threw more picks in less playing time than ramsey ;) but i agree PR hasn't been stellar by any means.
