jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
This may get tweeked slightly due to the monday night game, but I have to post this now cause I won't have time tomorrow or the next day.
1- Tennessee +2- This team is clearly the best team left in the NFL. They have the best defense, and their offense is not too shabby. They do it the old fashion way, smash mouth football, running / great D. They deserve this ranking. 2- New York Giants +2- The offense we all figured would be good, but the defense? They have allowed only 43 points in 3 games. This team could be #1 before long, but for now, they settle in nicely at 2. 3- Washington +5- :point: When you beat the best team in football, you make a sizable jump. The Skins have gotten better and better each week, and they have beaten good teams. The defense has faced some seriously potent offenses, yet only yielded 81 points in 4 games. The offense is clicking too, Zorn has them looking good. 4- Buffalo +2- before I hear any complaints, you need to realize that Buffalo has played inferior teams. They played Seattle, Jacksonville, Oakland, and St Louis, the raiders and rams probably being the worst two teams in the NFL. Buffalo has seized opportunities to this point, and have played well. Maybe 4th is a lack of respect, but I don't think so. 5- Dallas -3- :vomit: Even though the sky seems to be falling to everyone that loved the Cowboys, they are still a good team. This team has too much talent not to rebound as long as egos don't get in the way. 6- Denver -5- What a terrible display they put on in KC. At this point, they are lucky to be in 6th. 7- Pittsburgh NC- If they win tonight, they will move to 6th, if they don't, they could be in danger of dropping out of the top 10. It appears to be a good game, so maybe 8 or 9 is more in order. 8- Tampa Bay OFF- They are playing tough football, and they are winning. The coaching has been impressive thus far. 9- Chicago OFF- This team has played well in every game. Don't sleep on them cause they are 2-2, this team could be a shocker. 10- San Diego OFF- The offense is great, but the D is not much better than Denver's at this point. |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
I kind of liked not getting the respect we deserved.

Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
titans, denver, chicago too high. no philly?
titans and chicago don't have a QB, denver has no defense, and pittsburg has no OL. a flawed team like that just can't be #1. |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
quick side note - the bills have the 31st hardest schedule so far, titans the 29th hardest, new york the 28th hardest, pittsburg 25th hardest.
the redskins have the #1 hardest schedule so far, NO #3, chicago #4 (so maybe there is some merit there)... texans have the #2 hardest schedule btw, but they're also 0-3. |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
I just can't see Chicago being in the top 10.. How many turnovers are they averaging in a game?? Although they had a decent first half last Sunday, their offense was just HORRIBLE in the second half

Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
My fab 5 would be:
1. Giants 2. Skins 3. Cowboys 4. Titans 5. Bills |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
Do we forget how the BENGALS took the Giants to OT? :D
But yeah, they beat us, so they should be SLIGHTLY ahead of us, for now. :) |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
yes indeed where is the philly?
|
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
I prefer to be under the radar
|
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
Denver is a fraud. They don't have to go home but they gotsta' get out of the top ten list.
|
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
This won't go down too well....
1. Dallas 2. Tennessee 3. Philadelphia 4. Buffalo 5. NY Giants 6. New England 7. San Diego 8. Indianapolis 9. Pittsburgh 10. Baltimore :hitfan: |
Um, ok.
Did you just draw teams out of a hat?
Hey, it's not that bad. I just don't judge teams on one game, hence New England's presence and the Skins absence. |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
new england??? boo to that list...booo
:Flush: |

1. Dallas 2. Tennessee 3. Philadelphia 4. Buffalo 5. NY Giants 6. New England 7. San Diego 8. Indianapolis 9. Pittsburgh 10. Baltimore
davy has a list but his list is a crazy list. The #1 and #3 teams lost to unranked teams 4 teams have had a bye (which I guess makes them better cuz they didnt lose) 1 team is 2-2 (but better than several 3-1 teams  ) AND the Redskins aren't on it... anyone think maybe davy just wanted to provoke? |

1. Dallas(Gave up 34 points to the Eagles and 26 to the skins and you have them #1) 2. Tennessee 3. Philadelphia 4. Buffalo 5. NY Giants 6. New England( Lost to Miami, do you know Brady is out for the year???) 7. San Diego 8. Indianapolis(1-2 Beat only the 1-3 Minnesota) 9. Pittsburgh 10. Baltimore(Ousted such fowes as the Texans and Browns) :hitfan:
Are you going off last years stats??? |
Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
Denver was your #1 last week. You said they had a complete team from top to bottom. Now you have the Titans as the "clear cut" best team? No question they have a lights out defense, but Kerry Collins is thier QB for christsake. You can't expect this guy to be playing well in November and December. How can you give an AFC team the top ranking?

Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll week 4.
I found somebody else who doesn't have us in the top ten...
1. N.Y. GIANTS (3-0, previous rank: 2) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-0 (+9.0 PPG) Last week: It had to be a good week off for everyone in blue (with the possible exception of Plaxico Burress). They got some much-needed rest and had the added pleasure of watching both Dallas and Philly lose. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Giants are just the fifth defending Super Bowl champion to start 3-0 the following season. Week 5 matchup: vs. Seattle. This game features two members of the rotating cast of NFC Super Bowl participants: seven different teams in seven years. 2. TENNESSEE (4-0, previous rank: 3) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: DTs Tony Brown and Albert Haynesworth chalked up two sacks apiece in a 30-17 win over Minnesota. Cold, Hard Football Facts: So, why are the Titans winning? They attack the ball like it’s filled with $100 bills. They rank first in forced fumbles (8) and interceptions (8), and are second in Defensive Passer Rating (52.5). Week 5 matchup: at Baltimore. The “Steve McNair Bowl” figures to be a low-scoring affair; in their 17 career meetings, the winning team has topped 27 points only twice. 3. DALLAS (3-1, previous rank: 1) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-1 (-2.0 PPG) Last week: Oops! Jerry Jones’s talk of a 16-0 season went poof in a 26-24 home loss to Washington; Dallas allowed 381 yards of net offense and didn’t force a single turnover against the Amazin’ Zorns. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Coach Wade Phillips needs to work on his end-of-first-quarter pep talks; of the 89 points the Cowboys have allowed, 51 of them have come in the second quarter. Week 5 matchup: vs. Cincinnati. It seems impossible, given the gap in success between the franchises, but the Cowboys have a mere 5-4 lead in the all-time series. 4. BUFFALO (4-0, previous rank: 8) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Bills outscored hapless St. Louis 25-0 in the second half and won 31-14, despite allowing 167 yards rushing. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Buffalo’s secondary seems to be the biggest difference between last year’s average team and this year’s juggernaut. The Bills are limiting opposing QBs to a passer rating of 64.3, down from 81.1 in 2007. Week 5 matchup: at Arizona. How do you know it’s still early? This game is a battle of division leaders. 5. PITTSBURGH (3-1, previous rank: 7) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-0 (+3.0 PPG) Last week: Even without anchor DT Casey Hampton in the lineup, the Steelers held Baltimore to 3.5 yards per offensive play in a 23-20 OT win. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Willie Parker averages 4.0 YPA; his backups have rushed a combined 38 times for 95 yards (2.5 YPA). Week 5 matchup: at Jacksonville. The loss of G Kendall Simmons for the year leaves the Steelers without their two longtime starting guards from a year ago (Alan Faneca went to the Jets in free agency). 6. TAMPA BAY (3-1, previous rank: 11) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Buccaneers held Green Bay to 181 yards of net offense and forced four turnovers in a 30-21 home victory. Cold, Hard Football Facts: RB Earnest Graham likes that Tampa sun; all five of his career 100-yard games have come at home, including both of his 100-yard efforts this year. Week 5 matchup: at Denver. It’s a showdown between two geniuses: Mike Shanahan and his offense vs. Monte Kiffin and his defense. 7. PHILADELPHIA (2-2, previous rank: 4) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-1 (+3.5 PPG) Last week: The Eagles were +84 in yards and +2 in turnovers, but lost in Chicago, 24-20. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Eagles boast the best yardage differential in the league through four games, rolling up 1,459 yards to their opponents’ 982 (+477). Week 5 matchup: vs. Washington. There haven’t been many blowouts in the 74-year history of this rivalry; a 45-0 win for the Eagles in 1948 stands as the most one-sided victory. 8. CAROLINA (3-1, previous rank: 10) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The veteran Panthers put those whippersnappers from Atlanta in their place, 24-9. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The standings say 3-1 … but the stats say .500. The Panthers defense ranks 9th in scoring and 13th in yards, while the offense is 17th in scoring and 19th in yards. Week 5 matchup: vs. Kansas City. It could possibly be the least heated rivalry in the NFL. 9. DENVER (3-1, previous rank: 5) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-0 Last week: The Broncos Bandwagon let off passengers left and right, thanks to a 33-19 loss at Kansas City. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The 2007 Lions set a record, allowing opponents to complete 70.1 percent of their passes. The 2008 Broncos allow a 72.6 completion percentage. Week 5 matchup: vs. Tampa Bay. The seventh all-time meeting between these teams should be commemorated with throwback jerseys: Orange Crush vs. Light Orange Gentleness! 10. SAN DIEGO (2-2, previous rank: 12) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 0-2 (-1.5 PPG) Last week: The Chargers needed 25 fourth-quarter points to beat the Raiders 28-18 in Oakland. Cold, Hard Football Facts: Fans worried about LaDainian Tomlinson’s slow start (77 carries, 296 yards, 3.8 YPA) should remember that he had almost identical numbers through four games last year (77 carries, 282 yards, 3.7 YPA). Week 5 matchup: at Miami. The last time the Chargers beat the Dolphins, Boyz II Men had the No. 1 song in the nation (“On Bended Knee,” Jan. 5, 1995). Miami has won six straight meetings since, and the Boyz have fully transitioned II Men. 11. WASHINGTON (3-1, previous rank: 18) Record vs. Quality Opponents: 1-1 (-3.5 PPG) Last week: The Redskins pulled the upset of the week, beating the mighty Cowboys 26-24 in Dallas. Cold, Hard Football Facts: The Redskins have committed just one turnover in four games; after giving the ball away six times in Week 12 of 2007, they have only committed six turnovers in nine regular season games (seven wins). Week 5 matchup: at Philadelphia. It’s the 147th Eagles-Redskins battle, dating all the way back to 1934. Yet these heated rivals have met just once in the playoffs (a Washington victory in 1990). That list is pretty bad too.

everything in this league changes weekly. Every game! So yes, out of what is out there, the Titans are the clear cut #1. If Denver can ever get their D situated, they might make it back up there, but the way KC ran on them, I don't see it happening anymore. An AFC will get the top ranking cause they have the ONLY 4-0 teams. If Buffalo played a tougher schedule, they'd be 1-2. I am failing to see why people are so upset about Tenn at #1. The complaint about Philadelphia not being in the top 10 is a VERY valid one. It was tough for me not to put them in there, but these injuries have hurt them in my eyes. When they are healthy again, they will sky rocket. With Westbrook out, and McNabb hurting, no, they are not a top 10 team. With them healthy, they absolutely are. |
