Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Originally, I thought I'd make this thread a poll about which of the two is the Comeback Redskin of the Year...so far.

But instead, I just want to recognize both of them. Not only for their play on the field, but all the work they (the trainers, coaches, doctors) put into the last several months rehabbing so they could be in position to be out on the field and helping us win games this early in the season.

They're both ballin for us right now. It is pretty impressive to see.

I'm glad they are back and playing up to Pro Bowl speed. Hopefully, we can get M. Kelly, JT and E. James rehabbed up and ready to play. Its good to see them play at this level. Has anyone seen Philip Daniels on the sideline?

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Carlos' Stats:
19 Tkls (17 Solo), 1 Int, 4 Pass Def

Rocky's Stats:
26 Tkls (20 Solo), 2 FF

Good numbers and they have both have played a significant part in our defense. I would say that Carlos had a bit of more pressure on him to perform. I believe it was two years ago where he was heavily criticized by local analysts on his play. I hope they keep up the good work.

Thank you medical advancements and doctors. Ten years ago, they both miss this season and our defense would be awful.

I am shocked at how well both are playing this season after such recent major knee surgeries. Rogers was in T.O.'s jersey when he covered him one-on-one.

Great thread. I think it's amazing how far they've come back and it looks like they are going to have great seasons. Credit goes to them for doing everything they can and also to the staff for helping them recover this quickly.

Both seem better than they were before the injuries. It's amazing.

I like this thread...nice touch. These two are incredible for coming back so quickly and at positions that are very difficult to play favoring one leg. They worked very hard to get back this quickly.

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

What I love is that we only hear Carlos' name when it's making an INT or a deflection. People are hardly throwing his way.

Jury was out until the steller game. When CR balled up T.O and pushed him out of bounds and then on his post game interview said " I knew that would hurt him"

Game Ball.

^^ yeah CR dumped TO hard on the sideline (if thats the one your talkin about). didnt see this thread earlier but i want to applaud the training and med staff which was suspect last year, and while rockies been solid im hoping for some game impacting plays out of him, los has been great and being allowed to play physical and up on the line helps. doesnt hurt to have the reassurance that springs will man up on the opposing teams no. 1 either.

go skins!!

They look great, thanks for putting in the hardwork stay at it.

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Los is showing us that he has the true cover skills to be a top flight cornerback. He is also one of the most physical tacklers and is probably the best at his posistion in run support.

Rocky is playing like a probowler at the WIL. Fletch is only gonna make him better.

You couldnt ask for more from two guys coming off such serious injuries.

Rogers was the N.E. game, not sure about RM.

carlos needs to continue his progression. Hes been impressive but he still needs to grow.
Rocky i am impressed with but i miss his intensity he used to have..the same can be said of marcus washington..our outside lbs need to be more agressive and dynamic

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Carlos Rodgers and Rocky McIntosh have been performing well. Philly is a tough matchup. Carlos Rodgers is going to be asked to stay with DeSean Jackson. He really needs to win this battle for the Redskins to win this week. If Westbrook plays, Rocky will need to step up in coverage.

He didn't play all that much as a rookie behind Walt Harris, and in 2006 when everyone in the secondary was terrible, Rogers probably had the best season of any of them (although, what is that really saying?). The biggest jump, I believe, came from 2006 --> 2007, when Rogers beat out Shawn Springs and Fred Smoot for the No. 1 CB role on opening day. Gregg Williams doesn't just put anyone back there at CB and hope for the best.

I think we all had tempered expectations this year following the injury, but it appears that the surgery went perfectly and that Rogers is going to be a shutdown corner in this league.

And if Rocky continues his development, Jason Campbell isn't the only guy who is going to need an extension this season.

Anyone notice one person in particular (an especially harsh critic) who hasn't yet responded to this thread? Just sayin'

i applaud both of them for coming of the injuries they had to play in the form they are this season.
Its quite interesting and refreshing to see carlos play the way he has. Hopefully he can become our number 1 when springs is done whinning about his calf. (im sorry but he pisses me off lately despite his superb game against TO)
AS for rocky..maybe its the lavar lover in me...but i just wish i could see him destroy somebody everynow and then

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Ok. It is time for me to pay the piper on this one. I am a loyal Redskins fan, who always hated on Carlos Rogers. I felt that we wasted that pick. I wanted us to trade up and get Pacman. (WHEW! That would have been a mistake) Anyway, I used to get on his case all the time and complain about his play and DROPPING THE FOOTBALL. I always wondered what the hell we were thinking drafting him in the first round like that.
Well, now I see it. He's physical up front against the run. He's athletic enough to turn and run with most guys and he's starting to look for the ball now. I always knew Rocky was a dog. I watched him at Miami and was boosted when a lot of us hated. He's mean and he reads offensive keys. Just hope them boys stay healthy, cause they're gonna be locking it down in DC for years to come!!!

Absolutely. The reason that we could play the umbrella D (outside of #21) was because of the outstanding corner play. I remember the Episode of "Playbook" on NFL network around week 3 of that season. They specifically showed plays where Los, Springs and Smoot were on guys like glue and therefore could allow our safties to play 20 yards off the line and roam the field. I really like Los because he's a physical corner with good speed which is huge in the NFL.

Re: Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh Appreciation Thread

Just wanted to bump this thread after the Philly game. Both guys played great again--Carlos had some serious hits and Rocky was moving well again. And Carlos did it without Springs--very impressive. (He should have had a pick, but what the hey!)
