London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
Just saw on ESPN, I think it was Mort, suggested that Fletcher has a chance to win to the Defensive MVP this year. Any thoughts on our boys chances.

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate

dude that is awesome...lol |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I think if he continues on that same path of kicking ass and taking names that he has the first 5 games he has a great chance. This guy has been nothing but money since the team brought him here last year. He has a great chance, he has been overlooked/underrated his entire career.
Fletch is the MAN! |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
CAN'T PLAY!! to small
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
He would have to overtake C. Horton, the Defensive player of the month first. Dude deserves major props, as does Fletch!
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
Its crazy that he has never been to a pro bowl or been named all pro.
I guess the more the Redskins get talked about the more he will get talked about and that might mak him high profile enough |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
There's a defensive MVP now?
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
At the very least the guy should make the Pro Bowl if he keeps playing at this level.

I was talking to my roommate ealier today and as of right now the NFC probowl is gonna be like 50-75% from the NFC East.

I didn't know, since it goes to an offensive player every year. |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
As well as London is playing I find it hard to believe that he's never made all pro. He made some great plays today that kept the Eagles in check. Maybe he'll make defensive player of the week because he deserves it. I'm not counting it, though.

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
When we were down 14 and the iggles were on the move, it was London who stopped them and changed the game. If we go down 21 there, it's a tough hole to get out of. Huge plays. ANd then he just shutdown Westbrook for the rest of the game.
He's the coach on the field. Don't know if we can crown anyone with any awards this early, but certainly been playing at an all-pro pace. Keep it up, London!!!! |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
5'10 is his height but his heart is like 7'5 Yao Ming

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I'd hate to see what our D would be like without Fletcher.
Gotta give some props to H.B. Blades too, filling in for Marcus Washington. |

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I remember about four or five years ago ESPN sportscenter did a tv interview with Takeo Spikes when he and Fletch played together in Buffalo. They asked him about his career and what he attributed his success to. It seems all he could talk about was London Fletcher. TKO said that he wouldn't be anything if it weren't for Fletch and that basically he was the best player that people didn't know about.
The Pro Bowl has become the running joke of the league. Most football fans watch a quarter of these games and then turn it off. It's really no different from the Emmy's or Oscar's in that great unsung talent gets snubbed all the time. With all that in consideration, I hope that Fletch does get the nod this year simply for the fact that he's earned the overdue accolades and I know it's a personal goal of his. |

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I like Greg Williams because he's responsible for London Fletcher being a Redskin. But I never wanted Williams to become the head coach. Besides, Blatche is doing a better job than Williams did with basically the same personnel.

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
i give Fletch some love. i really did not want him here. thought he was too old. another good job by the front office
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I was in support of bringing Fletch here because his signing epitomizes what free agency can do for a team. We needed a defensive leader and a middle linebacker after 2006, and Fletcher has filled both holes for us. He's also been a very good player throughout his career.
He was also 32 when he got here, and for a linebacker, that's on the back end of his prime. |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I do not remember what my feelings were for him coming here. Which probably means I am blocking that I was a neg on the idea.
MAN..........what a pickup!! Not only does he do it all. HE TEACHES it all to our young guys |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
I was a big fan of the move to bring Fletcher here and he's really paid off. My only wish is that we got him 5 years ago. He's been a lot of fun to watch.

Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
London Fletcher is probly the smartest defensive player in the league thats why as he gets older his production stays the same. Brilliant to bring him over, And to think I was sad when Pierce left.
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
As far as being Defensive MVP I'll say this, he is the LAST player on defense we could afford to go down. I think LF going out would have the most dramatic effect on our defense than anyone. In my mind, at this point, he is irreplaceable.

I cant stand Pierce. He is a cocky MF. Fletcher is a beast. One of the smartest guys at the LB pposition. |

I doubt it, but I'm pretty confident that he will go his first pro bowl this year. |
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
It's way, way too early to talk MVP!
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
He has been on fire!!!! What heart!!!! Should make the Pro Bowl if he dose this all season! May be the best on the team! Nice job so far!!!!
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
The Redskins should have a lot of representatives on the pro bowl defensive team, especially if they keep playing as well as they have these first 5 games. And that would suit me fine since a lot of sportscasters picked them to go 6-10 for this season. John Riggins is still not a believer, but I think he says things just to play the devil's advocate. As for London, I don't know how good the defense would be without him.
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
Let's see if he makes the Pro Bowl before we start talking about these kind of honors
|
Re: London Fletcher: 2008 Defensive MVP Canidate
Fletcher made some good plays against the Rams, as did Chris Horton. Horton was flying all over the place and Fletch is always a dynamo.
