Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

i don't think he should.we should be able to easily beat the rams without him one would think.i'd like to have him 100% on the field against the browns.
what do you all think?

If he's healthy get him back in there.

Right, if he is healthy suit him up and get back in action.

Yeah....from what I heard there was even a chance he could have played in the Eagles game. But they chose to be safe and really rest him one more week. He'll be ready to go and cause mayhem w/ the rest of the "D" this week. :)

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

According to Vinny, (on 980am in DC right now) All our guys stand a real good chance of starting this weekend. The best thing we have learned is that our backups CAN PLAY! And, they are getting invaluable seasoning for future stardom.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

It was good to see Erasmus James out on the field. I hope Jason plays soon and decides to go atleast another year. It's rough seeing him on the sidelines, he even said that he doesn't feel like a part of the team when he's not playing.

I think you might be looking at it the wrong way it's going to take a while for JT to get his feet back up under him. So since this week is a "winnable game" why not let him work out his kinks this week to be fully ready for next week.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

Yeah I think play him I'm anxious to see what our D can do when healthy. You'll notice we stopped getting sacks without taylor. Springs should just play important games, so his little fragile ass stays healthy

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

As of right now, I would prefer for JT to heal 100%.. Even if he's at 90% or so, I would still sit him down.. We will need him more than we think we do for games in future.. The first 3 games with JT playing, we got 6 sacks.. And last two games without JT, we got 0 sacks.. That says something about JT, and that it is not worth the risk of putting JT back on the field when he's not 100%..

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

I think if he is healthy we need to get him some work. I am really hoping we can go out and lay the smack down early and get a nice lead so we can rest some guys a little. These last two games were physical and we don't need more of that right now.

didnt Aikman say he wanted to play against the eagles? if i had to bet, my money would be on Taylor playing against St. Louis. and im with matty. if he is healthy enough, get his ass back out there

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

I would think that if he is at 85% or better then you bring him in a couple of plays this game, let him get back going, and then use the full rotation at DE. I agree with the comment that our sacks stopped once JT was out, he was pulling a lot of DT and chipping which opened up the backfield to everyone else.

he probably wants to play so bad now it's killing him.

He didn't come cheap. He's a future HoF'er. Play him every chance you get.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

If he isn't 100% don't slow his progression. This is a stretch where we shouldn't need him. Let him get completely healthy for our late season push and into the playoffs. I don't want to see nagging injuries.

skinsfan_nn 10-06-2008 06:49 PM

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

There is no push to get JT back now, we have been to war the last two weeks and been just fine without him. We have what should be a few three lighter games than we have been facing the last five weeks.

Let him heal up completely, we will need him down the stretch. No sense in bringing him back prior to healing fully or at least very close to fully. And risking further injury or any more setbacks.

He will be valuable in our playoff run. :)

I think he will play, I just hope it does not set him back in any way.

He's 34. Exactly when would we be saving him for?

If he's healthy enough where he is the best option we have at LDE, he should be playing.

Exactly. "Saving him" is nonsense. When you play in the NFL you're never 100%.

I could see saving him for after the bye week. It would be nice to have everyone "healthy" for Nov thru the end.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

As soon as he's 100%, play the man. If he's not 100%, rest him until he is.

I don't think anybody's sure exactly how healthy he is. But 100% needs to be the policy.

No need to coddle him beyond that, no need to risk anything by rushing him back.

If he's 100% this weekend, let's get him in there and let him eat up the Rams offensive line.

The bye is still a long ways off. If he needs that much time, fine. But as soon as he's 100% or very close to it, you've gotta get him back in there.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

We need pressure against the Rams and apparantly we can only get this with him in there.

Play him situationally on 3rd and long...dependant on score if he can handle it.

Beating Philly and Dallas without his says a lot.
He needs to feel part of a winning team again....that does a lot for the healing process....so does sacking Bulger for a loss of 10.

I agree. Play him situationally. I think Evans holds up better against the run anyway. Those two guys should make it a nightmare for the Rams RT.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

The Rams would be a good team for him to get well against. Coming back with a sack or two would do a lot for JT's confidence coming off an injury.

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

JT probably wants to play badly. He's a competitor and it must be bugging him that he wasn't there for the two big wins against divisional opponents. As people say, if he's 100% he should suit up and get himself back into midseason form.

I was just answering the question "he is 34. what are you saving him for". The season is very long and brutal on the players, if he can take an extra week or two to heal up, then now would be the time to take it, not Nov 23/30 or late Dec when we are hopefully trying to clinch playoffs and home field. Saving him doesn't have to mean for next year.

He has said sitting on the bench is something he isn't use to. He does'nt feel like a part of the team. If it is left up to him, he will play.

Only if they are all well and ready to go! We need them all season be it Taylor or Springs. If they arn't 100% a week or even two isn't going to kill us.

JoeRedskin 10-08-2008 07:40 AM

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

I guess we should use the next three games as a chance to rest the nicked and to get our subs some playing time. As long as the backups are playing well and winning, get Marcus, Shawn, Taylor and Heyer fully healed up. Once they are as close to being 100% as possible, then play them.

There just isn't any need to rush anyone back for St. Louis, Cleveland or the Lions.

EastEaters 10-08-2008 07:43 AM

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

Everyone is overlooking the Rams. Don't assume this is a "throw the backups in" kind of game. The Rams have had a tough schedule and are use to tough teams. They are off a bye week, coming in healthier than all season and the coaching staff knows the our players intimately! I think if JT is healthy, we have to include him in at least a majority of the game. The odds are, the Skins will win, but a lose would be embarrasing.

Welcome to the board EE
Quite honestly, I cannot imagine that happening. I listen to hours of player and coach interviews. Nothing I have heard makes me think they are looking past the Rams.
If anything I think they are making absolutely sure that does not happen.
We'll know for sure on Sunday

Defensewins 10-08-2008 10:42 AM

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

Jason Taylor should play but not start. JT should come off the bench on obvious pass plays...3rd and longs. Demetric Evans should be the starter and play LE most of the time. He has earned it. We are better overall defense with him in there. If we had the Jason Taylor of 2 to 3 years ago i would say JT should start. But JT is not producing the sacks like he used to. He is now 35 years old, maybe playing as a 3rd down/pass rush specialist, sort of like Jumpy Geathers did later in his career, will improve JT's production.

johnerotten 10-08-2008 10:57 AM

Re: Jason Taylor: will he play next week?

it would be totally out of character for the skins to overlook the rams.how good is the rams defense when it comes to rushing?can't be very good.
