King's "MM QB"

Peter King in his "Monday Morning QB" article today gives the Redskins tons of love, then ranks us in his "Fine Fifteen" 5th....behind Dallas who's at 3rd and Pittsburgh at 4th.

I know it's a stupid, meaningless poll but I used his mailbag to write back. I'm like you've got to be kidding me...Dallas over Washington? I mean who won the Dallas-Wash. game (in Dallas) and who beat Philly on the road while Dallas was struggling at home to beat winless Cincinnati?

I even think Pittsburgh is ranked a little higher than they should be, but Dallas shouldn't be ahead of us....anyway just venting.

Pitt ahead of us is a little rough for some reason. When it comes to Pitt and Dallas the media has major hard ons for them.

This flip-flopping calzone with legs never ceases to amaze me. Throw yourself down some stairs, Peter.

Peter King will hold on to the dislike of the skins for as long as he can.

They also had a hard on for Bill Parcells who is probably the most overrated coach of all time. At least Pittsburgh won a Superbowl in recent years.

I don't really mind PK that much anymore. He seems to be fairly unbiased, truthfully. Yeah, he shafted Art Monk for 5 years, but he even came around at the end on him. He admitted he was wrong.

As for where he has us ranked, who cares? The Redskins are a pretty good team, so good in fact that their play on the field really has me not caring about where people would place them in their "power rankings". The way the team is playing is good enough for me. I'm thinking about St. Louis rather than power rankings at this point in time.

I'm glad he's got us ranked there, frankly i dont like the media giving us all this love,I like it more when they disrespect us and we just shove it in their collective asses

We kicked THEIR ASS in their own crib! AND they BARELY got by a BAD Cincy team. Rated behind Dallas............I think not
I'm going to start my own list of people, teams that NO LONGER MATTER.
King, and the Eagles will lead both lists................Uh oh, where am I going to put McNabb? Speaking of Don't Matter...........

Dallas is good. We're good. He has us in the top 5 so I don't think we can complain. If we played Dallas agin next week I think it 's a toss up game. We won once but it doesn't mean we are absolutely better than them. Just as much as I don't think the Giants are absolutely better than us.

I try not to get worked up over these polls. I'll take a general assessment of where people/media think we are and comment on that but from poll to poll to wring our hands over it is a waste of time. We're gonna get some serious love now that we've played well and won some important games. Let's not start thinking we're on the path to the next NFL dynasty just yet though.

Dallas is still really good. I'm not worked up whether we are 5th or not. It's just an article. There's alot more football left. Some are leaping onto the bandwagon w/ SB hopes. I'm not going to say we are the best team in the NFL. We're pretty good though.

The skins are front page on every sports webpage out there. Guess what? When you win games you start getting a little respect. We really haven't won many big games in the last 10 years. Until now.

I think the Skins should be above the Cowboys, obviously, but you do realize that he has Washington ranked #5 in the NFL right? Some of the comments in this thread ring extremely hollow to me. Like when the Patriots and their fans would all complain about 'getting no respect'. I don't know if you actually read King's column or if you just find numbers more appealing for their simplicity, but he actually led with a story about the Redskins and Portis calling the 4th and 2 play to end the game. I think he said something like "there are a lot of things to like about this Redskins team." Get over the contrived indignation.

You should make that last line your sig. Excellent point.

The Patriots were ranked no.1 last year. I don't even know where the Giants were ranked. I'd rather be last years Giants than Patriots. Who cares?

And how many has Dallas won? Aren't they on a 12-year playoff winless streak? I'm just sick of the seemingly God-given right these bums get, especially when we just beat them in their house.

Like I said in the original post, I know it's meaningless rankings from a scrub writer. I just wonder what his justification is, considering the two impressive wins the Skins just had. Not to mention they've also played and beaten some of the other very good offenses in football.

Dallas is coming off a loss to us and a sloppy, unimpressive win over an awful Bengals team. I just wonder what his "criteria" for these rankings is. Sure Dallas is very good on paper, I just think they also need to start winning some big games before they get anointed all season long again.

There's nothing contrived here. King has had it out for the Redskins and it's fans for years. He mentioned the 4th and 2 to end the game as something he liked? Wow. That's introspective, cutting edge journalism right there. Honestly, I was upset that he was showing the skins any love at all. Peter King gives the AP a bad name and needs to stick to his little fantasy columns. And please don't compare Redskins fans to Patriot fans. A few of us here are on a little bit of a rush from the unexpected level of success and that leads to a lot of vocal objectivity.

Re: King's "MM QB"

I am still confused about what the point of getting worked up about this is. He didn't rank us 15th. He gave us what I think is a generally fair ranking. I may quibble some with the rankings but in general they are decent. And if they weren't? Why care? What matters is that we win games. The number of games won is the number that matters. What some know nothing sports columnist says is entirely irrelevant.

Why are we constantly looking for this contrived (that word again) validation?
