The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
Now that I've got your attention...
CHILL OUT It's one game. Just like the Giants, Saints, Cards, Cowboys, and Eagles game were all just one game, respectively. The team isn't as good as most of us thought 4 hours ago, and they're not as bad as what most of us are thinking right now. Go do something outside on this beautiful Fall day (in the DC area). On to the Browns. Go Skins! |

OMFG itz ova! FIRE ZORNN. JC sucks, bring in COLT!! ItZ ALSO ALL SNYDER's fault!!!
I NEED FROST....DERKA DERRR!!!! |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
I don't think anyone thinks the sky is falling. But we definitely regressed today and blew an opportunity AT HOME for what on paper should have been a victory.
If I had to put a positive spin on it, I'd say that's our big wake up call. We've tasted success and proved that we can play with anyone this season, but maybe this was the gut punch we needed. Remember, it's not IF you get knocked down. That happens to everyone. It's how you respond to getting knocked down. Most of these guys played for Gibbs the last 4 seasons and have dealt with plenty of adversity. All I have to say is Cleveland better watch out next week. I think we'll come out focused and PISSED OFF. |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
The skins are the same team they were 4 hours ago (pretty good) they just got complacent and let the headlines get to their fat heads. Now that they are back to reality hopefully they won't repeat the same mistake of under estimating the opponent.

The team played well aside from the turnovers so we have nothing to panic about. We just have to keep proving people wrong. CHEER UP REDSKINS FANS! |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
I like how Zorn takes the season: in quarter chunks. So the first quarter, the 'skins were 3-1. In the second quarter so far, the 'skins are 1-1. If they do the 3-1 ratio every quarter, they will be 12-4, and I'll take that ANY DAY.

I think everyone understands we had 3 TO and just dropped a game to a inferior opponent. What makes me so mad is that this game just wipes away one of the GREAT games we've had the last two weeks. |

I'd hate to be the Browns next week. |

The complacency is what drives me up a wall. I know it happens all the time in the NFL but when our guys go there it's maddening. The o-line was the epitome of complacent through 3 full quarters and Jansen began looking like his preseason self again. I understand the last two weeks were huge battles but to force Zorn/JC to give up on the deep threat because the line won't pass protect against the f'ing Rams... wow!!! |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
All right, hold on a second. Just as there are those who tend to overreact after a loss, there are those who overreact to the overreactors.
This is a Washington Redskins message board. That means that when they lose, -- grasp yourselves here -- some members will be upset and actually post negative things relating to the loss. It goes with the territory. While I haven't read every single post, I'd challenge anyone to point out the poster who says that Armageddon is upon us, and this team is actually headed for a 4-12 record. I don't think you'll find them. I've seen some pissed off fans -- and there should be. There is no excuse for losing to the Rams at home. That said, anything can happen on any given Sunday. So everyone needs to "CHILL OUT." That includes those who are about to jump out of a window, and those who are apparently eager to find those who are upset that the Redskins lost. |

Yeah, who knew the Rams had a pass rush? When was the last time the Redskins D had 4 sacks? |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
Coming out flat+turning the ball over+dropping interceptions+missing assignments=losing an NFL game. So we go 3-1 in this quarter of the season also, we're 1-1 so far with 2 winnable games coming up. Still on pace for a 12-4 season.

Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
the skins gave a game away today.bad breaks with the fumbles and that 1st fg the rams banked in,stuff like that went their way today.there's 10 games left in a long season,we live to fight another week.

Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
The Skins are still way ahead of the game. I never thought they were going to win all 3 of their next games and IMO this is a good wake-up call for the players to realize they may not be as good as they think they are. The Skins will win their next 2 and go 2/3 for this stretch and trhat isnt too bad.

Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
Skins beat themselves today, no question about that. You cannot have 3 turnovers AT HOME and expect to win. Great performance from the D all day until the end, but shit happens and there is a lot of football left to play. Game over, lets move on to the Browns and get a W.
|
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
I just think that somewhere down the line this loss is going to come back and bite us in the ass. It's a conference loss and anyway you look at it, we can't lose to the Rams at home.
|
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
Yes the Skins kept shooting themselves in the foot and we gave one away, but give some credit to the Rams Def and Haslet. He was a great motivator in NO and I think the players hated Linehan. Haslet had two weeks to prepare for us and he had his team fired up. This was almost their Super Bowl and the SKins played it like a preseason game for the first 3 quarters. If they keep playing opportunistic D and run Jackson more than they throw then Haslet might remove the interim tag and finish '08 7-9.

On the other hand, we won two games against conference opponents (Arizona and New Orleans) at home and two games, which almost no one thought we would win, against division opponents on the road. It certainly doesn't help to lose this game. Good teams win the games they're supposed to win. But, unless we start to free fall, this won't kill us. And we have far more important games than we've lost. I had thought that Cleveland would be our trap game, but now I actually think we'll win the next three-including the Steelers game. |

Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
Honestly our pass protection needs to get better, and our pass rush MUST get better. The only way we could bring heat on Bulger was by blitzing DBs.

Right now I am looking at our next two games against the Browns, and Lions as "must wins" we can't afford to lose to anymore teams that have no business beating us, and if we do we're in big trouble because it's going to be hard to keep pace in this extremely competitve division and conference. |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
We did look past them a little, But for real we got some bad breaks and bounces today, The Pete Kendall thing c'mon thats shit for the twilight zone, I think we still have a very good squad that will continue to improve, This bump in the road could be exactly what we need to get to the next level. Then next time we have a little more urgency and won't go 4 wide and leave Campbell to be killed. We will be fine again theres not a game that scares me till we get dallas again, But maybe that ones not so scary after all. Let's keep it together Go Skins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
6 games into the season and the skins are 4-2. thats pretty good. turnovers got the better of the skins today, also the dropped ints by fletcher and landry didn't help.
|
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
we won those
The Skins lost the Giants game. ;) |

Yeah, before today, this team hadn't recorded a sack in two games. And, is it just me, or is Jason Taylor shaping up to be a ho-hum DE this year? Maybe he wasn't ready to come back from that injury. His presence hasn't exactly opened things up for Andre Carter either. Seems like we have this problem year after year -- you've got to be able to get pressure from your front four without blitzing. |

Did today's game scare you? Exactly. I think the Redskins AND the fans would be well served to just take things one week at a time. I tried telling this to everyone when this site was being drenched in Kool Aid after last week's win. As far as The Warpath is concerned, hopefully it will be a lesson to all of those who keep looking ahead on the schedule and talking about 7-1... Worry about the game in front of you. Expectations are premeditated resentments. I could care less about our next game against Dallas at this point. I'm focused on how we will respond to a bad, bad loss with another big opportunity to win at home next week. |

This offense has all the parts, so let's see it. There have been too many times when this team has stopped itself from getting into the endzone and had to settle for three. 17 lousy points against the lowly Rams has to make these guys on offense steaming mad. They need to drop at least 40 on the Browns. |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
I'm just saying.. nothing is ever a forgone conclusion and it's a damn shame most of you and the skins thought it was.. I'm sad.. But I'm VERY happy the Boys lost too.. :)

Prior to this week the problem was settling for too many FG's when driving into the red zone/scoring position. This week it was turning it over when driving. |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
There seems to be a lot of talk about what we should do as fans , as if WE are playing the game. Unless I'm at the game, I don't think it matters if I'm juggling cats or screaming my lungs out. It does'nt matter if I'm flippant or deadly serious, it's not going to affect the outcome of the game. What's important is that the PLAYERS understand they need to take each opponent seriously, not me. Before this game this was a team that was happy and feeling good about themselves, just as we were feeling about them. It's natural and was well deserved. I consider this game as "growing pains". Unless they're stupid, and I don't think they are, they will learn from this. If we, the team, don't grow, we're not going anywhere. A good team improves as the season goes on. I believe we will do that. This , after 6 weeks, cannot be the finished product. We will continue to learn and improve, and yes have growing pains, but by the end of the season we should look better than when we started. If we won games like this, I believe the team would grow complacent and that would lead us to look like the Cowgirls always look at the end of the year. We deserved to lose because of turnovers and penalties, not because of what I, or anyone else on this board said.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to act. Speculation and over-excitement is expected amongst die hard fans when our team is 4-1 and rolling. I was simply sharing the way I approach each week. I guess my real point is I hope some people around here learned that wins are never a foregone conclusion, regardless of opponent. Nor should we take it easy on the team after this awful loss just because we looked good for the 4 weeks prior. We came out flat, we looked bad on special teams and offense, and blew it at home to a winless team. As a fan I'm hopeful, but also staying humble. Obviously the way we act as fans has no bearing on the outcome of the game. I sure am glad Dallas is wetting the bed. |
Re: The Skins Won't Win Another Game!
i think the team looked past them. uninspired play and 3 TOs... ouch. still, we almost won, we should have won, but you gotta figure trap games happen :/.

Maybe I'm sadistic but I LOVED seeing Wade Phillips jumping around like they just won the Super Bowl after the fieldgoal then losing the game. :food-smil

At least we will be going into next week's game ready to whoop the Browns' asses to relieve some anger from today's loss.

Amazing. This is the attitude so many of us had going into today's game. Good thing we learned a lot from assuming a victory. |
