Betts sprained knee

How bad is the sprain? Any word? If it's a bad sprain, I'm wondering if we'll see the return of Marcus Mason.

I thought Marcus Mason went to the Ravens??

He's on their practice squad. We can sign him to off their practice squad to our 53 man if Betts is out for a while.

Practice squad. We can bring him back if needed.

Sprains can take a while. I sprained my ankle on Monday and I dont think I will be able to run for 2 months!

That replay was painful just to watch - hope it looked worse than it really is.

If Betts is out for any length of time, Rock Cartwright deserves the backup role, not dragging Marcus Mason back here.

Re: Betts sprained knee

LB is an under-rated part of our team. I feel just as good when he is in the game spelling CP as when CP is in. Hope he's alright...but Rock deserves an opportunity to take his special teams prowess to the next level. Let's earn that new contract rock. One thing I feel confident in is our depth at RB. And on the optimism tip the Browns have a short week and we can really gameplan these fools. Plus i'll be there 13 rows from the 50.

cartwright fumbles a lot when he plays on offense though.

I don't see the need to bring Mason back either. Rock has gotten it done before.

He's fumbled 4 times on offense on 178 total touches. That's really not all that bad.

One positive here.
I don't know who said it...either Cambell, Portis or Rock on Redskins TV.
But the quote was this after the philly game.
"We are good enough to beat anyone"

Well....now after the Rams loss they also know...."They can lose to anyone"

That is some humble pie that may benefit them down the road.

Phew. That's good to hear. It looked pretty ugly. Ladell does a great job spelling Portis and has a decent burst. I hope he's only missing 1 week. Rock can be a serviceable backup, but he takes a while to get up to full speed.

Re: Betts sprained knee

Ladell is better than some of the starters in the league. Glad it's not serious.

Bugel was on NBC 4 and said that Betts would be out at least a month. They're supposed to be bringing in some RB's this week.

SFREDSKIN 10-13-2008 07:00 PM

Re: Betts sprained knee

From NBC4 website:

Ladell Betts, RB - Redskins

Ladell Betts' knee sprain is reportedly not serious, but he isn't expected to be available for another two weeks. The Skins dodged a bullet here, but may still have to sign someone like Ravens practice squad RB Marcus Mason to play behind Clinton Portis. That would require a roster move, possibly involving receiver Malcolm Kelly (knee). (Oct. 13, - 4:23 PM CDT)

Give the rock to ROCK. He has been one of my favorite skins for the last 2 or 3 years.

Re: Betts sprained knee

This Shaun Alexander stuff makes me wonder if they're downplaying the seriousness of Betts' injury. Redskins Insider says the MRI from earlier today confirmed that it's nothing more than a mild sprain. Then the very next post says he'll be out "at least a few weeks." Huh.

Give Sellers 10 carries / game .... the man is a runaway train . I think we should let him play DT on 3rd and long ,,,, he couldn't be any less effective at rushing the passer .
