Redskins vs. Bucs Predictions

Let's hear your predictions for sunday!

skinsguy 09-06-2004 10:03 PM

Redskins - 27
Bucs - 14

CRT3 09-06-2004 10:05 PM

Redskins 35
Bucs = 9

Gmanc711 09-06-2004 10:08 PM

In all seriousness, we should slap this team. Look at the matchups

QB - Brunell vs Johnson - Verdict Even
RB - Garnder vs Portis - Please , Portis all the way
WR - Galloway/Brown vs Coles/Gardner - Edge to Skins'
OL- I'm gonna go even because of our injuries and possibly having Thomas or Sameuals out, though its unlikely
TE - Dilger vs Gibbs H-back Squad - Dilger is better than anyone we have, Cooley will be better with time.

Defense-
Our DL vs Their DL - Bucs got us here, though its not what it used to be. Simeon Rice needs to be shut down.
Our LB's vs Their LB's - I'll give the edge to us, although its close. Derrick Brooks is a monster and we gotta try to keep him under control.
Our Secondary vs Their Secondary - Ronde' Barber is good, their other corner is decent, but I still think we our better.

Now all of that means crap if we dont play as a team. But I think one of our biggest assets this year will be our ability to play together as one. I'm gonna be at this game, and I honestly will be heartbroken if they lose, but I'm very confident in the Redskins this weekend.

Washington Redskins 31
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

Who else from the Warpath is going to the game??

EEich 09-06-2004 10:11 PM

Redskins 17
Buccaneers 13

saden1 09-06-2004 10:14 PM

Bucs win this one 21-17. Why? Because our offense won't in full swing just yet. I hope I'm wrong though.

That Guy 09-06-2004 10:19 PM

i'll go way out and say skins go 30-40 and bucs go 0-10 ;)

bucs will look confused and it'll be over before they catch on.

Scott 09-06-2004 10:42 PM

According to the latest Vegas line skins are favored by 1.5....that being said I will go:
Skins 24
Bucs 13

love them hogs 09-06-2004 10:43 PM

Redskins 24
bucs 13

Hogskin 09-06-2004 11:07 PM

I expect a Redskin win, and VERY low scoring by TB, probably 10 points tops, likely less. But with their good "D" and our unknown offense it could be a close one or a total blowout.

RedskinRat 09-06-2004 11:16 PM

28-3 in favor of the Skins.

skinsfanthru&thru 09-06-2004 11:18 PM

i'm going with the skins winning 27 to 9.

MTK 09-06-2004 11:38 PM

'Skins 24
Bucs 13

The 'Skins really have an unfair advantage in this one, IMO.

Gibbs and Williams have both shown very little all preseason so Gruden and the Bucs staff really have their work cut out for them. I'm sure Gruden has gone over tapes from back in the day, but he knows he's going to see a lot of different stuff on Sunday. It's not like Gibbs walked in to Redskins Park back in February, threw down his playbook from '92 and said this is the plan. Sure the base offense will be there, but I expect we're going to see plenty of wrinkles all season long and adaptations of other offenses from around the league.

The Bucs are getting old and don't have much left at the skill positions. BJ is a smart QB who's going to keep the ball moving, but get in his face and he'll start throwing some ducks. Garner is a nice double threat but he can be contained. The WR's are average and the offensive line is average at best.

It will all add up to a long day for the Bucs as Portis rushes for 125 and a score, Brunell tosses 2 TD's and the game isn't as close as the score.

PSUskinsfan11 09-07-2004 12:48 AM

Fellas you gotta remember we have Gibbs back!!!! It's like the Bears having Ditka.......Skins w/Gibbs 84- The Bucs 3 ( Bowen trips and lets up a 40 yard pass to Clayton, then Gramatica knocks one through from 52).

....but in reality 'skins 20-13

That Guy 09-07-2004 01:19 AM

more importantly, who gets the most points for the skins?
is it:
A) Brunell
B) Portis
C) Sean Taylor

Brunell 14 two TD passes
Portis 14 two TD runs...one from inside the 5, the other from outside the 30
Taylor 7 Int from inside the 20

so skins 35...bucs 14

Hall gets the day off..no FG's

That Guy 09-07-2004 02:02 AM

ST may seriously have the 5th highest point total this year... (brunell/portis/hall/coles/ST), that'd actually be kinda cool :D

Brute44 09-07-2004 02:24 AM

I personally just hope the game is played with hurricane Ivan creeping in.
It looks like it's headed toward Florida or the Gulf of Mexico but you never know. This game is going to be tougher than people expect. This offense hasn't shown me that there dominating or even good yet. I think that it will be tight at the half Bucs 10 skins 13. Gibbs will get the team going in the second half and the final score will be Bucs 17 Skins 27. Portis will struggle in the first half than get better in the second half hopefully. The defense will play solid throughout if Springs and Smoot play well. This game will be a good test for our O line.

jbcjr14 09-07-2004 08:08 AM

I think this is going to be very tough. Lavar asked the crowd to be loud, well if you have the opportunity to be there, put down the brewhas and yell like a banchee! Gonna need all the help they can get.

Redskins win 20-13 as the Bucs try their bootleg play that absolutely killed us last season and Lavar will kill Brad Johnson when he tries it. Must stop the run to have any chance in this one.

A win makes a big statement to the league!!!!

Redskins Win 24-21 in the rain on a Hall FG

Big C 09-07-2004 10:54 AM

30-10. brad johnson gets a severe concussion from lavar and his career is ended. is pretty much good times.

diehardskin2982 09-07-2004 11:18 AM

I see us winning 21 to 3. they will try to do the play action to the tightend but Taylor will burn them on it.

Garner will be more of a pass threat than a run threat so whoever covers him will have their work cut out for him. major blitzing from our defense brad johnson has no legs to get away from the rush. big question mark on offense the skelleton o looked horrible but it will be alot better full force.

RedskinRat 09-07-2004 11:24 AM

I don't envy the Bucs, they'll be the first team to face the Redskins with Coach Gibbs back, a full stadium going nuts and a Redskins team that believes. It really should be an ass kicking like the first quarter against the Falcons.

Gmanc711 09-07-2004 12:00 PM

My god I cant wait. I'm at school right now and all I can think about is this game. I already have the butterfly's in my stomach. We need this win, it will set a huge example. Plus with division opponents the next two weeks, we gotta show them were back.

War Redskins whoopin the Bucs to avenge the 99 loss

just noticed. Garner's hometown is Fairfax VA. thats a tough one for his family. route for your son...or JOE GIBBS' return to your beloved Redskins!

Yeah Garner is from Baileys Crossroads, VA. His neighborhood and high school are 2 blocks down the street from my house.

Redskins_P 09-07-2004 12:10 PM

Redskins - 27
Bucs - 10

Portis rushes for 110 yds, 2 td's. Brunell throws a td pass to Cooley. Taylor gets a pick and Lavar has 3 sacks (Johnson can't scramble).

oh man. memories. what high school is by there that he went to?

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-07-2004 04:44 PM

i think the redskins will win 27-14,i see arrington knocking brad johnson into 1999 and he'll think he's a redskin again and start throwing picks by the dozen.seriously guys,if the bucs do'nt protect him any better that the falcons did vic the other night,he wo'nt last the whole game.little phil sims jr will end up finishing the game.

exit0 09-07-2004 06:01 PM

I think this will be a low scoring game with turnovers deciding the game. Both offenses will struggle but the Skins will win the time of possession and have some better drives. The Skins defense will rule the day and Skins win 16-6.

Phinehas 09-07-2004 06:08 PM

Skins, 17-6.

Bucs are a mystery with so many changes.......

REDSKINS 20
Bucs 17

SmootSmack 09-07-2004 09:31 PM

It's going to be like the Redskins's season opener against Detroit in 1991, a bloodbath, 45-0 Redskins.

Fire up the bandwagon!

im4skins 09-08-2004 05:57 PM

Redskins win easily

Tampa Bay is slowly going back to where they were. They don't have Pittman b/c of suspension, keenan doesn't want to play there. That's 2 starters missing from offense, plus their defense took a huge loss with all the players gone now. No Sapp, no Lynch, Derrick Brooks can do but so much. I think the skins will move the ball down the field in a time consuming fashion, the way Gibbs likes it, and get a few big strikes from coles to open up the running lanes for portis. Johnson hasn't looked sharp this preseason, so that makes for a long game for TB and an easy win for Washington.

Riggo44 09-08-2004 08:54 PM

Skins 27
Bucs 19
