Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

Which of the four teams with a rookie coach is not pictured below (Sportsline homepage)? Why all the hate, media?

It's not paranoia if they are really out to get you...

I wouldn't get all ruffled about this. It's Prisco's week 9 grades. The Dolphins, Falcons, and Ravens all already won their games week 9 games. We haven't, thus no pic.

Re: Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

Next time open it up and don't just read the caption. It starts off talking of the three because they have played their week 9 game and then they talk about Zorn. Here's the rest of the story.
Four first-time coaches took over teams in 2008, most of them no-names in a world of high-glamour coaches.

Tony Sparano has emerged as a Coach of the Year candidate along with his three other rookie collegues. (AP)
Mike Smith? John Harbaugh? Tony Sparano? Jim Zorn?

At least Zorn played. What about the others?

Harbaugh was that NFL quarterback's brother. Sparano? Loved him in that HBO show.

Smith? Who?

Now look.

On Sunday, three of the four won, and Zorn's Redskins play on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

All four now have teams that are playoff threats.

Go figure.

Most, including me, figured the Dolphins and Falcons would combine to win six games. Now the Falcons, coached by Smith, are 5-3 thanks to their 24-0 shutout of the Oakland Raiders.

The Ravens, who beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, are 5-3 under Harbaugh. What's even more impressive is both the Falcons and Ravens are doing it with rookie quarterbacks.

The Dolphins, coached by Sparano, went to Denver and pulled off an upset, winning 26-17 to get to 4-4.

If the Redskins beat the Steelers, the four first-time coaches will have a combined record of 20-12. Even if they don't, it's still impressive.

The three teams that played Sunday and their first-year coaches get A's in our grades this week. All won on the road and all did it in impressive style.

Who are these men?

Yes but then it is the media's go-to excuse: "Man the Steelers are not playing well at all I wonder what is the problem." Rather than "Wow the Redskins defense really shut them down."

No shit! isn't that the damn truth! It's always like that. ESPN is just as guilty of that kinda coverage earlier this season as well.

Re: Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

I mean I understand why the picture is not up there... we still have the game to play tonight. I just want to know why there is no real talk about this game on any of the sports pages. There is a bit on ESPN but that just went up in the last couple hours. Last week you would have thought it was the superbowl with all the Giants-Steelers talk. We get barely any mention. 6-2 playing a 5-2... but yes the Cowboys getting blown out is the bigger story even though we assumed that would happen.

Clearly you're just another East Coast elite, trying to make me read the words rather than just looking at the pictures. If the "Fourth Estate" did not harbor irrational hatred for the Redskins then they would have included a picture!! (such a retarded thread)

The media, the referees, and other teams. In philly when I mention the Skins, I am told that they suck and are in last place, as recently as about and hour ago. I was arguing with a friend. He claimed that they have a mediocre quarter back, no run game, no receivers, and a weak defense. Haha, he was suprised to find that they are 6-2 and amazing.

Re: Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

Take a deep breath here for a moment.

Rookie coach Jim Zorn was handed a playoff team from last year. The only real story would be if he were such a bumbling idiot that he took that playoff caliber team to a 2-7 start. He hasn't; he's a good coach. So in terms of newsworthiness, his performance is diminished because it was expected.

Look at the Falcons. They were a disaster last year. They have a winning record halfway through this year with a rookie coach.

Look at the Ravens. I think they only won 5 games last year and they have 5 wins now in the first week of November this year.

Look at the Dolphins. They were a laughingstock last year. They are at .500 this year.

If you compare what the rookie coaches of those three teams have done relative to the expectations for those three teams and compare it to what Zorn had done with the Skins relative to the exectations for the Skins, you'd probably be a lot more surprised about the other guys.

It's not media bias. It's the media trying to tell interesting stories.

When the Redskins make the playoffs and Zorn is the only rookie coach in the NFC playoffs (I don't think the Falcons will make it that far) there will be several puff pieces about Jim Zorn at the time. Why then? Because at that point what he will be doing is unusual and therefore interesting...

Prisco posts his weekly grades on Monday morning. We hadn't played yet, so I don't see this as media bias at all.

This is why we had the subprime meltdown - nobody reads the fine print at the end!

Re: Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

I watched the entire pre game last night and felt they talked a TON about the skins. Way more than they talked about the steelers. I just dont understand why you people get all up in the air about this stupid stuff. seriously...who cares.

bottom line, we win games consistantly and the media will talk more about the Skins. When we look like a playoff contender year in and year out, then we'll get more media attention. You people seem to forget that of all the teams the previous 12 years, we were like the 3rd worst. In my opinion, the 3rd worst team in the NFL over that time frame doesn't really deserve a lot of media credit, or media time.

I'm not sure why you made it fine print at the end anyway. You should have, if you really felt this thread was needed, put in big bold letters at the top of your original post "WARNING: SARCASM AHEAD"

But you didn't and no will actually read the fine print. So I'm thinking maybe it's just time to lock this
