Marvin Lewis Takes Ex-Redskin
The Bengals added a cornerback on Monday, acquiring third-year pro Rashad Bauman off waivers from the Washington Redskins.
Receiver Maurice Mann, a fifth-round draft pick from Nevada this year, was waived to open a roster spot. Bauman was the Redskins' third-round pick in 2002. He was used primarily as an extra cornerback in passing situations, appearing in 28 games and starting three over the last two seasons. |
Good for Rashad, can' help to feel a little bad for that WR. Hurray, I made cuts! ::boom::
Good for him. I hope he can help the Bengals out.
I always kind like Bauman. Seemed to be a pretty good player. He was the only guy on the cut list that I was sad to see go.
so marvin's gotten kenny watson (who i think was much better than rock), DG (well, almost), and now bauman and cliff russel (he got added to the bengals PS)...
lewis knows what he's doing ;) they have one of the better QB situations out there right now... |
forgot, lewis also took hue jackson as his wide receivers coach (SS OC)
Do they still have Carl Powell?
i really liked rashad bauman, i thought he had a lot of potential, and i always hate to see our 3rd roudners and picks like that not blossom that much here
yeah, we've had a LOT of our QBs leave and do well other places too...
I can think of Trent Green. Brad Johnston was good before he got here was good two years ago but has very fragile confidence. Guss Ferotte is probably the best No 2 QB out there at the moment stepping in a couple of times to help the Vikes out. Other than that I am sturgling.
Well he was here for just one year and it was over a decade ago but Rich Gannon. And I guess Rodney Peete as well
rodney had only once decent year tho
gannon's still playing, so it counts ;)
gannon is pretty much dead
lewis drafted him,if memory serves me right.he also had patrick johnson on the team until he broke his hand and them he got waived with an injury settlement.i'm surprised someone has'nt picked up reagan upshaw yet.from what i saw of gannon in the preseason,he may go back to the probowl this year.he really looked good.
Um... Stan Humphries won a Superbowl so I'd say he leads the group of forgotten Skins QBs who gone on to success elsewhere. Johnson was a quality starter before he was here so he doesn't count.
stan humphries wona superbowl? all i remeber is him getting his ass kicked by the 49ers in the sb. correct me if im wrong tho

you are correct. I think the 49ers broke a record for the most points scored in that SB. Didn't they win like 49 to something? |
Humphries won a SB with us as a backup
hey, not that we play the Bengals this season or anything, but what if the Eagles or Giants had picked Bauman up?
how much of our playbook could he give them? is that ever a serious concern? im assuming defensive players dont look at the offensive playbook, but im sure he's seen alot of our offense first hand. |

Bauman could probably give the Bengals other DBs a lot of tips regarding the Redskins receivers' tendencies. I don't think it's a serious concern though |
I had really hoped that Bauman would be a great player for us one day. I mean how many DBs get personally tutored by Baily and Green for their first three seasons!?!

yeah man. Jimoh over Bauman is a SERIOUS head scratcher. i don't know much about Williams except that he likes to blitz alot and finally put LaVar on the weakside. hope he knows what he's doing coverage wise.. maybe it was a Gibbs "True Redskin" decision? |
i remember bauman being a real good special teamer also...very surprising
I'm sure Jimoh's size over Bauman played no small part either. Also maybe the fact that we already have Jimoh signed for 2005, Bauman's contract ended this year.

mabye they all read this site and wanted to keep the fan club...
