How long will Ramsey be a Skin?
How long do you think Ramsey will take to being a back-up? With so many teams struggling to find a QB, and in this day and age, where players and agents tell management what to do, will he stick around until Brunell leaves, or should the Skins try and get something for him from another team?
|
Good question. I think Ramsey is the opening day starter in 2006. He'll play some this year and more next year. But I think Brunell is the official starter for two more seasons.
If no one's done it yet, let me be the first to welcome you to the warpath im4skins. been a redskins fan since "the day before yesterday" eh? |
I think Ramsey needs one year, to learn how to be an NFL quaterback. He'll be the starter next year.
|
i think he might be traded, because i think he may not resign,i believe his contract is up after next year
|
It depends on how we do, if we have a winning team this year then he will want to stay and be a part of it for when his chance to lead comes. If we suck again he will want out.
|
i'd hope he'd be ready to start next year, with brunell as a deep insurance policy...
|
and an expensive on...we obviulsy didnt check the rates of other qbs on progressives website when we got out insurance policy name Mark Brunell
|
yeah, that's why you shouldn't go 1 stop shopping... he was the best available in term of character and talent i believe... but it was a reall heavy contract. he'll be what? 41 by the time the contract expires... maybe he'll be tradeable if its a good year, but with the price tag, it'd have to be a REALLY GOOD YEAR.

We musn't forget who's in charge.
Gibbs is back! |
Ramsey will finish his career a 'Skin. Have faith. Brunell sits for good after he goes down in week 8 this year with a season ending injury.
|
Brunell has 3 years max here. Ramsey will stick around.
|
I say Six (6)!

I say Ram starts week 6 after Brunnel goes out with a bruised forearm! Few QBs get through an entire season without nicks & dings! I think that should be the poll, not whether he will stay. Whether he will start some games this year! |
I kinda like the story of a Brunell comeback - to be Superbowl MVP. Ramsey can wait - if he'd played good enough over the past year or so he'd be the starter. Instead, he's been just "good" and not "great." I think Gibbs will handle Ramsey from a motivational perspective - and maybe in two years he will be the starter. I think that Brunell will have the job unless he totally sucks or he retires after the Superbowl win this year.

He's got three years on his conract left including this yaer. So he def. is under contract for a while. Good thing is he is under contract during the 2006 which is gonna be the year were gonna have to bad some big cuts. So hopefully the next year when he's a free agent we'll have lots of free money. |
Ramsey will be a Redskin for life, he'll be the first QB to win more than one SB under Coach Gibbs.
|
lets trade for ken dorsey and develope him, give the 49ers p ram and get a #2 pick, lol

hmmmm......heh. |
I love Ramsey and I was so happy when the Skins drafted him. However, that was before Gibbs came back. I don't bite the hand that fed me 3 Super Bowl rings. If Ramsey is good enough to be the Redskins QB he will be here starting in the future. if he is not here it means that Joe Gibbs decided that he was not good enough...and that's a good enough reason for me.

All I care about right now is sunday, let's worry about next year when the time comes.
:) |
Can we agree that as long as Brunell is healthy AND the Skins are not eliminated from the playoffs, Brunell will start this year? Good.
So, IF Brunell stays healthy and the Skins do not fold like a pup-tent in a tornado, Ramsey sits on the bench. No big deal, you say? Well, from what I've heard and been told, Patrick Ramsey's salary this year could DOUBLE if he meets a bunch of incentives - which are within reach. But he will reach NONE of them if he is on the bench. Same is true for next year but the percentages change a bit. Therefore, he MIGHT look at this like a 50% pay-cut this year and a slightly smaller cut next year if he does not start next year which he WILL NOT DO if Brunell gets them in the playoffs this year!!. I don't know that he will view this situation in that way just as anyone else does not know that he won't. But I promise you that his agent will remind him of that whenever his contract is up for renewal. So, be prepared for negotiations with the Skins to be a lot less "cordial" than they might be. Imagine that you work for National Veeblefetzer but you have the skills to work for lots of other companies in the same field. Now, if you thought that Natioal Veeblefetzer had "reorganized" you out of a chance to earn a big bonus you thought you would make with ease, how happy would you be to keep on working for them? If someone whispered in your ear at a job fair, would you listen? If you wouldn't, you are an unusual human being. Stay tuned to this little soap opera. I don't think it's anywhere near over... |
i do'nt care if humpty dumpty comes in and starts as long as he does'nt get smacked around like ramsey did last year.are you guys sure ramsey has 3 years left on his contract?
