Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

Just wondering what every one thinks about Plexico next year possibly hiting the free agent market. I know he is a moron, but him and Moss would make up the best duo in the league.

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

Yeah, he shot himself in the leg. Not someone else. We wont get a chance to sign him, but after all the BS over the last five or so years about us needing a possesion reciever. If it were up to me, I am selling my soul and signing him.

Definitely not.

Are you for real?

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

Well, he would help the on-field product a lot, but lets see how this all plays out first. There's no reason to be dreaming of having a pass catcher who could spend the next three years in jail. Our situation isn't that dire.

Also, there's definately those rookie receivers we still have.

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

Sorry, forgot the obligatory joke response:

I don't have any idea who "Plexico Burris" is, but it can't hurt to give him a try on the practice squad. I mean, he can't be worse than the eight guys we already have on the practice squad! Eight players, and not a single pro bowl trip between them! <Insult about Justin Tryon for no good reason.>

The Giants organization didn't even want him. The guy has a terrible work ethic and on top of that he can't even keep his illegal firearms at home. We needed a CB but you didn't see us running after Pacman Jones.

$20 says Plaxico Burress on this team = What Brandon Lloyd was, except with gun charges.

Next thing you know someone's gonna be saying to sign Michael Vick because we have such an inept starting QB.

What the Hell. He cant be worse than CJ or TO, and we were gonna give up the house for CJ. He wont go to jail, plus I dont think the Giants will let him go anyway. He is an elite reciever and just the kind of player our team desperately needs, on the field. I am sure that Dangelo Hall can teach him to act right.

Aaaaaaaaand here it is. I'm surprised it took this long for this thread to pop up.

An emphatic NO! 31 year old malcontent with shitty work ethic facing jail time, with a history of multiple domestic violence calls from his residence and repeated fines and violations of team rules. No thanks.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention he was having a very down year this year, and has been injury prone lately. Maybe he's declining a bit on the field to go with his off-field downfall.

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

TO Killa:
Most think he will go to jail, especially because the Mayor's new policy on strict gun control. Plax will be a martyr. he will most definitely be cut as well.

Also Plax skips meetings, practice and just makes a team look bad. CJ and TO both show up hard for practice at least. They do all team related activity. What TO and Plax share is they can be cancers, but TO atleast puts effort in the game.

I wouldn't take either TO or Plax, but Plax is worst. I would take CJ without a doubt.

He is as good as gone in NY. And why do you think Hall could make him straighten out? There are plenty of straight laced guys on the Giants and apparently they couldn't get through to him.

That guy is a plague to himself. Only Plaxico can help Plaxico. Until then, let him straighten himself out in a cell.

I was joking, but no way in hell if we could sign him would he not be worth a shot.

Hey, I was bored and started thinking about Plexico being on the open market. Just thought I would throw it out there for fun. I realy did not feel that strongly about it. Now I am finding myself defending a hypothetical situation, that is apparently, extremely unpopular.

haha it's all good but doesn't seem like the best idea to get Plax. No one is attacking you.

Well, I was watching the Giants game with a bunch of friends, and a least three of them swore they could do better than Randel El. I figured that Plex was a better alternative to one of them.

We definitely can do better than ARE. ARE is not cut out to be a #2 in my mind. I like him better in the slot.

So yes we have a gaping hole in our #2 WR spot, but maybe next season Devin Thomas could be our #2? I mean we drafted 2 WRs for a reason. At least that's what I keep telling myself. :Smoker:

hooskins 12-04-2008 12:38 AM

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

Again it's PLAXico. But yeah I highly doubt they would be better NFL receivers than ARE. Obviously he hasn't been doing so hot this year, but don't forgot the beginning of the season when he was catching and throwing TDs.

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

even if we did sign this complete idiot, take a look at this...

1. its a complete idiot
2. eli and campbell are on different levels
3. our pass protection is poop and giants is much better

so if burress is putting up very average numbers with the giants... how do you think it will work for us???

From the moment the gun went off he became a future Cowboy. I believe they have a direct line to all jails.

Ha! Think about the deal would could get for Vick and Plax. Maybe we could work out some kind of work release programs from their respective jails on game day. It's not like Plax ever shows up for practice anyway.

The no.2 WR position needs to be upgraded....but not with plax(unless the price was around what we got D.Hall for) then im game

Re: Should We Sign Plexico Burris.

We did try to trade for CJ for a kings ransom. CJ is not as good as Plaxico.

However, no we shouldn't try to sign Plax.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Vick a shot though as some sort of backup/slash role though. I'm sure he'll want to go somewhere that he has the chance to start. I'm not sure he'll find that though.

I knew this thread was coming at some point but the way it looks this thread is about 3 years too soon. Don't know what you have been reading but NY has a min of three years jail sentence and I see no way that Plax is getting out of that.

Aaaaaaaaand here it is. I'm surprised it took this long for this thread to pop up.
Me too.

Seems like Pierce is going to be forced to testify against him to keep himself out of trouble. Seems like the DA is looking to make an example of someone and from what I have been reading and hearing this is not something they are willing to plead down to a slap on the wrist. I think Burress is going to do time, maybe not the full 3 1/2 year mandatory minimum, but he is not going to get off scott free.

Personally, I would love for the Giants to keep him, but not going to happen.

I have to say I am impressed with all the Warpath'ers here, I don't think anyone seriously said yes to this thought. I doubt the FO would either.
