Divisional playoffs thread

Gotta say I was really surprised at how well Arizona played, Delhomme flat out stunk.

Meanwhile it was a slug fest between the Ravens and Titans as expected. A rookie HC and QB, very impressed with the job the Ravens have done this year.

We had a rookie head coach with a MORE experienced QB. WHY AREN"T WE WINNING?!?!?!

J/k.

I'm happy for Arizona. I remember when they were in the NFC East. The Baltimore and Tenn. game was such a fun one to watch. I think San Diego and Giants are going to win today.

Skins arent winning because the team isnt that good. Balt has a D that can win/change games (skins dont). Balt has a pro style QB that doesnt get flustered and is an accurate passer (Skins dont). A solid O line (Skins dont), and a kicker that doesnt miss under the gun (skins dont). I am amazed that Balt can possibly win 2 super bowls with 2 different regimes before the Skins even sniff one.

Carolina went thru the motions in that game and they got burned (they looked like the Skins in the Cincy game). The more they fell behind the more confident AZ became. Anyone that thinks Moss is a #1 WR just needs to watch Larry Fitz to see how far down the #1 WR ladder Moss is. I am really glad AZ won and I'd like to see them go to the super bowl.

Ravens look like a SB bound team. With that said, Rex is talking to the Jets so the party may be over next season. But then again the Jets are talking to everyone

Cards are amazing! They have certainly proved me wrong. I didn't think Warner had it anymore.

I'm still going with the Eagles all the way to SB

Flacco's completion % and rating are both lower than JC, despite a old and injury ravaged line. Baltimore's line is bigger and healthier, and they have a stable of 3 healthy running backs who all totaled over 500 yards rushing this year.

The Redskins lost to Cincy by one score, Arizona blew the doors off of Carolina. No much similarity in these games at all, especially considering Cincy went up on us 14-0, and Carolina took an early lead on AZ.

And I love how you manage to sneak in your shot at Santana Moss as well. Let me ask you, what do you LIKE about the Redskins? I know you pride yourself on being the negative agitator of the site, but really dude...

I do a prognostication pool with some of my buddies, and before the season I picked the All-Pennsylvania Bowl, with Philly playing Pitt. That's not looking too far-fetched at this point.

The Skins O line isnt that good and it shows. Also Balt has 3 good backs while the Skins have 1 really good back and 2 that arent so great. It just appears to me that Flacco is a winner and for whatever reason JC isnt. When JC is in the Skins O just doesnt do much (even when they win they dont score many points). I just cant help but thaink that JC is what's holding the Skins O back.

The Redskins lost to Cincy by one score, Arizona blew the doors off of Carolina. No much similarity in these games at all, especially considering Cincy went up on us 14-0, and Carolina took an early lead on AZ.

The common thread between AZ/Car and Skins/Cinn game is that both the favored teams came out flat and seemed to go thru the motions.

To be honest there really isnt much to like about the Skins. They have glaring holes throughout the team. I do like Zorn and think he needs time to get the players (especially QB) he needs to make the O work. I also like London Fletcher and think him and CP were the only Skins that deserved to go to the Pro Bowl (Samuels selection was a joke).

Can we just talk about the playoffs without relating everything back to the Skins? For once maybe??

When I watch these games I just watch and enjoy playoff football. Are some of you really sitting there comparing everything to the Redskins? That's a miserable way to watch.

Jesus, I was just ****ing around when I said that because i knew someone would pick up on Baltimore's experience and somehow make an argument about the 'skins. I didn't think this would come to fruition. I am sorry Matty. :)

I want to know if Norv Turner can make this game go his way personally.

The Eagles - Giants game today is going to be a slobberknocker. Crazy to think that if Philly wins, the Arizona Cardinals will be hosting the conference championship game. If you had told me that a month ago, I would have told you to go jump off a bridge.

Yeah seriously. I'm actually jumping on the Cards bandwagon now, they're a fun team to watch right now. Why can't they be this years' Giants?

I am actually rooting for the Eagles, I hate to say it. The eagles are right behind the Cowboys on my list of teams I hate. But for some reason (probably the fact that they won the superbowl) here in DC/Arlington there are a ton of Giants fans coming out of the woodwork, and they are possibly more obnoxious than the Eagles fans. I hope the Eagles shut them up!

If the Eagles win a Super Bowl, then we can't hang the fact that we have and they haven't over them

The whole year, we've heard how west coast teams cant win on the east coast, and that would be their undoing in the playoffs.

Well, pending todays outcomes, we could be looking at two championship games being held by 4th seeds on the Pacific time zone.

I, for one, would like to see that. Make the East Coast teams travel West and earn their way to the Super Bowl. Of course, I'd rather just have the Eagles lose right here.

I know a lot of people wrote off Arizona because they played awful in the second half of the year, but they have had the toughest route to the Championship Game as any of the four teams that will get there, so obviously they belong.

Got to give props to Andy Reid, the Eagles have certainly proved they're better than the Skins today (when it matters at least).

Two sub 10 win teams in the championship game has to be a first.
Two sub 10 win teams in the championship game has to be a first.
For sure.

In fact, only once before in history has a conference championship game been hosted by a team that did not earn a first round bye, when 3rd seeded Indy hosted it in 2006.

Right now, we're staring at a clean sweep of the bye teams, depending on the outcome of the afternoon game. That would honestly be incredible if it did happen.

Gnats peaked to early this season. Eagles and Cardinals are peaking at the right time. Same with Ravens and Chargers, they are peaking at the perfect time.
Who cares what your regular season record is. As long as you make the playoffs and are playing your best ball at the end of December, that is the best situation. Didn't the Giants do that last year?

We (Redskins) peaked in September/October.

I agree, they were the hottest thing for most of the season then dropped a couple notches by playoff time. Right now I think I am going to root for Arizona. Philly is very tough, but statically, they are not all that hot. It is their stellar D that wins it for them.
DeSean Jackson making plays--makes me hate Cerrato more...
He would have played sparingly had the Skins drafted him, and if the Eagles drafted Devin Thomas he would have just caught that 48 yard pass to seal the deal for the Eagles. You can't tell me Jackson is any smarter or more motivated than our rooks. The Skins are just dysfunctional.

BTW, I hate the Ravens and can't stand their Johnny Come Lately fans who presumably just got into football when the Browns came to town.

But, I will begrudginly give Flacco some props. He made some BIG plays downfield to receivers who were covered like a blanket. How about that play to Clayton in double coverage. I didn't see Santana Moss make a single catch like that all year, although he is plenty capable. Campbell has to take the training wheels off and let those passes go! Same for the big pass to Heap down the middle of the field. Double covered, but he got the ball in there and kept the drive alive.

I know he gets good pass protection, but he also moves around in the pocket to negate the pass rush (which makes the pass protection look even better than it is). He made a great pass to Mason after running towards the sideline. I'd like to see JC do more of that as well.

The friggin Eagles. Man, what could have been.
