(Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Good for him, he's been wanting to get back in the game for a while

re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
OC huh, I can't believe he can't get a shot at HC again. I've always been a big fan of Reeves.

re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Well it's an interesting pattern we saw last year with the three most successful first year coaches, hire a former head coach to serve as your offensive coordinator. Singletary may be following the mold
Tony Sparano-Dan Henning Mike Smith-Mike Mularkey John Harbaugh-Cam Cameron |
re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
And the Lions will probably hire Scott Linehan to be their OC as well

Yea I liked him too. He always reminded me of Shotty or Norv with the fact of not being able to win the big one. His offenses could get them their but I think it was his coaching that fumbled the ball. He may do well as an OC. |
re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Now it might be Dallas where he's headed, with maybe Hue Jackson going to San Fran I suppose.
|
re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Supposedly he's told the Niners he was going to take the consultant job in Dallas.

Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
God bless the 49ers cause Raye is one of the worst OC's around (Marty Ball). Remember the Joe Walton days? Well, maybe not that bad, but still bad. I would have hired Hue Jackson instead.
|
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
I wonder if Reeves ends up HC in Dallas.
|
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
It's funny to read all the comments after the write up. lol. They sound like us. lol. Talking doom and gloom. Their season is done. Talking about how they will be the team to have the most HC's in the shortes span after next year. lol. Gotta love it.

Agreed. Raye was a terrible choice. His offense should be called "Neanderthal Ball". |
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
whats the dealeo..is Reeves going to dallas?...that sure would suck for us...
Wasn't he associated with Landry somehow? |
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
not gonna change nythng
|
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Reeves was involved with all 5 dallas teams that won superbowls, 2 as player, 3 as one of Landry's assistants
|
Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
I doubt he can make much of a difference though as long as WP is the coach. Just creates that much more of a muddle.

Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Reeves to Dallas once again shows what a forward thinking owner has the power to do. Wouldn't it make SOME sense for Snyder to offer a similar role to Holmgren? He doesn't have to move to DC, make a huge time commitment to the team away from his family, hell he doesn't even have to show up on gameday! But an experienced coach/gm, an expert in the WCO, with one of his pupils (Zorn) and someone he previously worked with (Cerrato) just seems like it makes a ton of sense to bring in. Unless Snyder is REALLY struggling financially (I've heard some rumors to that end) a couple million for a 1 year consulting contract doesn't seem outrageous.

Yes. In fact, Mike Holmgren has a twin brother. He and his twin, golfer Craig Stadler, were separated at birth. |

Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
My Dad could pass for Holmgren's brother. Minus about 200 pounds though.

Re: (Updated) Niners Name Raye OC; Reeves Talking with Dallas
Raiders claim Gradkowski.
The fact that this is a step in the right direction for them is very indicative of how far they are from respectability. |
