Class guy on and off the field. But why should he have to restructure when the Cards have plenty of money ( under the cap ) to pay Boldin? Cards ought to be ashamed of themselves for not paying Boldin. This is one guy who deserves a new contract. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Just don't let Boldin hang out with Plax-he might get his leg shot off.
|
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
I'm a big fan of Boldin. I wish the Skins could land him.
|
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
for some reason, I'm not too worried about boldin signing w/them.
Then again, I'm not the one to look to when predicting the g-men's success. Every year it seems that I think they won't be much, they beat us &/or win other big games. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Please god no!!!
Boldin is a beast. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
...Then we should look at Plax to replace the receiver we need
|
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
yes boldin is a beast. but dont owrry, the giants will draft someone in the sixth round thatll be better.
those bastards ALWAYS seem to find someone to replace their big time players that come out of nowhere. |

First let me say I don't agree with it, but it was this statistical analysis that said when Boldin was up against the game's elite receivers (usually Fitz gets that guy), Boldin's yards per catch and completion rate were ok. Basically saying that without Fitzgerald you may experience a significant drop-off in Boldin's peformance. Sort of how, but perhaps not to the extreme extent, of how Bryant Johnson kinda sucked this year. Maybe it came from Football Outsiders, I forget |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Boldin lead the NFL in recieving TD's this year even after missing a few weeks because someone decided to amputate his face? I know that you do not agree. this reminds me of a stat from the 90's where the commentators said something like "the Bills have a better winning percentage when Bruce Smith isn't in the game". That was back when he was a stellar DE. The Bills would not have wanted to face any offense without Bruce Smith if they could help it. Some of these guys just like to bring up pointless stats and pass them off as knowlege and pray that you do no realize that they are talking out of their ass. That's how they continue to get paid. |

The skins will land him, although he will be 36 when they do. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Look you all fail to see the problem. So go ahead and bring in Bolden. Who cares. He will be mediocre here. Look who's coaching him. Yes, like Moss and ARE he will have some talent but he will only be a shadow of himself as long as we have Hixon.

Well ESPN (Insider Rumors) has this story dated for today and they link it to an article from the New York Daily News dated January 26th. Cardinals' Anquan Boldin a nice fit for Giants to replace Plaxico Burress |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
We need to trade Randel El and next years number 2 draft pick and try to land Boldin here. That would take a lot of pressure off of Moss and Cooley and give us a legitimate receiving threat.

I think it is more important to get the pressure off Campbell so he can throw the ball. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Wow, great logical move for the Giants if it happens.

Yes, the Cardinals would be crazy to pass up that offer! |

lol that trade wouldn't fly even in Madden. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Boldin still has 2 years left on his contract. Cards don't have to get rid of him at all. If they do trade him, the price will be high.
|
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Price for a Boldin trade will indeed be high - - and then you will have to give him a new contract to keep him happy...
One rumor out there - - it's a RUMOR so it may be 200% wrong - - is that the Eagles will offer Arizona one of the Eagles' first round picks this year AND their second round pick this year for Boldin. |

i think the skins should try to trade antwan randle-el and ladell betts to az for boldin. the trade would help both teams randle-el and wizenhunt work well together and betts could definitly help their run game b/c james probably won't be back next year. and the skins could defintly use another real starting wr and this trade we won't loose any draft picks but i don't know about the salary and salary cap effects. |

Let's just put the salary issue aside for a minute. Let's suppose you're Rod Graves, GM of the Cardinals, and I were to propose to you Randle El and Ladell Betts for Boldin. Would you really accept that? |

And I think this fact is incorrect.. In Boldin's first year (2003), he had 101 catches for 1,377 along with 8 TDs.. However in his second year, his production fell down - only 56 catches for 623 yards.. The second year (2004) is when Larry Fitzgerald came in, he did not do so well either - 58 catches for 780 yards.. I think it's because of the QBs situation, I also checked the 2004 rooster list.. Turns out that Luke McCown, Shaun King, and John Navarre were the QBs - I am going to assume that McCown was the one throwing balls to the receivers.. Jeff Blake (I have no idea who he is) was the one who threw balls in 2003 - I believe he retired after that season.. The 2005 season was when Kurt Warner came in.. Boldin had 102 catches for 1,402 yards and Fitzgerald had 103 catches for 1409 yards.. Those facts are enough for me to say that the fact of Boldin wouldn't be great when Fitzgerald isn't on the field is moot.. |

it would be interesting to see him and moss together, I think he would make moss look better because moss won't be staring down double coverage every play |

well that kinda changes everything but it would still be worth it because it makes a big difference for the whole team |

It would change everything only if we have decent O-line.. But we don't, so it would be waste of picks.. |
It would change everything only if we have decent O-line.. But we don't, so it would be waste of picks..
True, I think we would be better of with going after TJ Houshmenzadeh and keeping our draft picks. Naturally after the trip to the superbowl, Boldin could use either result as a reason to stay. If they lose, he can say he wants to stay because they got so close and could win the next year. If they win...who would want to leave the champions. Our line is aging and needs repair. Any trade we make for any team should consist of giving up betts and Randle El. |

A bit off topic, but does this remark make anyone else feel old? As far as Boldin, I wouldn't mind having him in Washington, but they'd end up having to get rid of Randle El. Even if that did happen, they would still have a log jam at receiver with Moss, Boldin, Kelly, Thomas, and Thrash. |

In fact, I think Skins should stay away from this situation.. Because we have only four picks and we already got two new WRs from last year.. However, I would love to see Boldin in Skins uniform only if it would not cause any long-term problems in future.. What I was trying to prove was that the comment about Boldin's performance without Fitzgerald SmootSmack heard is invalid.. |
Re: Rumor: Giants Looking At Boldin To Replace Plax
Boldin isn't going anywhere if Fitzgerald has anything to say about it. He is willing to restructure his contract in order to keep Boldin on board. Looks like the Cards are setting the new standard.
