What are you going to eat for the Super Bowl?

And now something totally different.

I'm debating what I should cook for the game. I was thinking Fajitas or possibly some ribs.

It would probably be easier to go down to the Golden Skillet and pick up a box of chicken, but that would take the fun out of cooking.

Pizza is good but I usually end up burning the crust. I'm not a hambuger or hot dog guy, but I could really go for some Polish Sausages with hot mustard.

I'd like jalepeno poppers but they put my women folk on the toilet.

What sayeth the Mob?

I'm no cook, but I'll be making some pretty good buffalo chicken dip to bring over to my parents'.

Other than that we'll probably have the standard fare: hot dogs; burgers; chicken; etc.

Re: What are you going to eat for the Super Bowl?

We are staying home for the SB this year and I think I'm going to grill up some spare ribs on the webber. I'll get them started around 2:30 and let them smoke/slow cook on the grill until the game gets going. If not ribs I'll probably slow cook some chicken wings and when they are done I'll mix them up in 50/50 mixture of Anchore Dail and tobasco hot wing sauce.

My Mom is from Western PA not too far from Pittsburgh and is a Steelers fan. She is having a party at her house, and man can she cook. So far, in addition to the normal chips/dip type appetizers, the menu includes a few different flavors of chicken wings, homemade lasagna, chili, and plenty of ice cold Stella Artois. I can't friggin wait. I plan on being in a full-blown food coma by halftime.

Good call on the Polish Sausages. My wife makes this meatball and Lil Smokies thing in the crockpot for me every Super Bowl with a homemade sweet BBQ sauce, it's ketchup, brown sugar and a bunch of other stuff. Beef & Cheese dip with Tostitos Scoops....can't wait.

firstdown...those ribs sound good too.

This is what is nice about not having the Skins in the SB (probably the only thing) I would be to nervous to eat anything!

Since the Skins are out will be having sausge balls, wings, pizza, dip, etc...The kicker is my party will be like from 3pm to sevenish...Both me and my sister have young babies so we need to have them tucked in early. Brother in law and I will have to drink it up next year.

yeah we'll do a similar fare, along with rumaki, sausage balls (the bisquick kind) guacamole, and usually a cheese platter of some sort. we just do the appetizer thing and drink large amounts of Guinness.

Im kinda bummed. we were going to go out this year and watch, but there's no place in warrenton to go, really. they had that "wing fanatic" place that used to be the locker room, but i guess they're closed as well.

I've done both in past years- gone out to bar and grill, and stayed in and cooked with friends/family. I think it's more fun to stay home and do the cooking thing. For one it's cheaper (especially if you're drinking), and there's something about being on your own turf doing your thing with those closest to you. I love SuperBowl Sunday. Man I'm psyched.

Wow that's excessive, even by my standards. I like it.

Just about anything in bacon tast great and its even better when wrapped around another meat thats bad for you.

I'm totally intrigued by this idea of a "bacon weave." I've got to incorporate it into a recipe at some point.

Making Chili in the crockpot. Going to brown the meat and saute the onions and peppers tomorrow night, toss it in the fridge, then Sunday morning, the crockpot will be turned on around 9am combining that with a can of kidney beans and Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Chili Kit (yes I know it's better to have your own recipe, but I've found this kit gives my chili the right amount of flavor). Low simmer until the Super Bowl. Also having cornbread, rice and fritos to use as base. Friends are bringing various other snacks to go with...

About 12 Coronas and 3 hotpockets. Of course I will probably find my way to the fridge a few times scouring for some leftovers as well.

I'm definitely going to be in the 8-10 beer range tomorrow. I've got a nice bottle of scotch in the freezer, too. I'm sure I'll cap the evening off with a night cap or two. I've been working like a slave this month. I need to get good and drunk tomorrow. I just have to keep it semi-under control until I leave my Mom's party. Can't get all sloppy around the family. Well, I guess I could, but I don't want to be that guy.

Re: What are you going to eat for the Super Bowl?

I think were just going to do the standard Pizza, Wings, and probaboly an awful lot of cold beer...were doing something small. We threw a huge party for the Thursday Night Opener so were kind of toning it down for the Super Bowl.....

I still don't have a fully functional kitchen yet. We do have a fridge and microwave but the range was damaged when it came in so we're out of luck until Monday. So I doubt we'll be doing any cooking at home. We'll probably order up some pizza and wings.

I honestly like Dominos wings. I was really skeptical the first time I ordered them, and was pleasantly surprised. I'd go with a thin crust pepperoni and green peppers and as many wings as you can handle. And lots of blue chz. Unless you have a mom and pop place in your area with better food than the big guys (which is one thing I miss about living in a small town).

I love Domino's thin crust pizzas and wings. You can't beat thin crust, no tomato sauce, chicken on the whole pizza, green on one half and pineapple on the other....delicious! I'm gonna order one right now.

Re: What are you going to eat for the Super Bowl?

Domino's wings aren't bad, and their thin crust is decent. I'm just glad to have a go-to Mom & Pop place for pizza and wings. I have found my favorite wings come from Hard Times Cafe...all their flavors are good, but my favorite are the Chili Lime wings grilled. A very close second is a place in Germantown I go to called Pelican Pete's. They have huge wings, and I usually get mine with Old Bay.

@EE21 - the asian zing is great, but my fave has to be mango habanero. Sweet on the initial bite while the heat hits the back of your throat.

Along with the chili I made, a buddy of mine smoked 9 lbs of chicken wings (simple mesquite marinade over mesquite chips), half of which ended up leftover and what I will snack/eat for the next few days.

OMG I use to go to Pelican Pete's for crabs. That place rocks.

Ill have to try the mango habanero. oh, and old bay on chicken is really good. I make a thick pasty marinade with oldbay, vinegar and oil and grill chicken breasts in the summer time and put thin slices of cucumber on top of them. they're pretty good. I'd love to try some wings with old bay.
