No surprise here. Lloyd/Arch/Spurrier were some of the worst moves in franchise history.

Interesting... 2008 was the first year Danny didnt have to pay Spurrier 5Million to do nothing.

What do you mean?

He resigned so the Skins didn't have to pay the final $15M.

unfortunately, can't argue w/the ones he's picked out by the skins. He could've piled on & added Deion too.

I vehemently disagree w/#1. At the time the Falcons had no idea Vick was involved in a dog fighting operation, and it's a fact that Vick's arrival increased ticket sales big time in Atl.

Lloyd / Arch advocated by Saunders / Williams (supported by Gibbs), both are gone. Spurrier advocated by Pepper Rodgers, gone. I would say Synder has learned his lesson.

Enough of the Lloyd / Arch / Spurrier stuff :bdh: :bdh: :bdh:

Now don't try and blame VC for all of those blunders. Sure he was here, playing an active role in our FO, and player scouting, but had nothing to do w/ any of those.

Those make me cringe. Hope Hall doesn't get anywhere near what he got in Oakland, that was insane.

Ouch, the Raiders and the Skins are 5 out of 10. OMG, are we the Raiders? Surely, we can be a little more wise than Al Davis?

We're not in the same category as the Raiders. A couple more Archeleta's, and maybe.

We've grabbed some bad players before, but don't seem to share the same desire they have for trying to pick out the very worst the free agent market and NFL draft have to offer.

What about jason taylor and deion sanders? They could have easily made the list

Not Jason Taylor, he's essentially a rental. We can cut ties at any time with no cap penalty. He had no signing bonus.

No one could have predicted Taylor's injuries back when we signed him and he was the best DE available I believe. Whereas when we signed Arch and Lloyd, there were red flags all over the place about them before we signed them. I think Taylor was just pure bad luck.

i know it didn't make the list, and the money wasn't as catastrophic, but I still get hives thinking of the Jeff George era.

Oh dear God. You had to go remind us of that fiasco. I'll never forget how much shi*t I got from my buddies (most of whom are Skins haters) when we pulled that move. What a joke Jeff George was

You never know what DS will do next. It's his money and he is not scared to spend it. Got to love him.

Re: Redskins make the list of ESPN's worst NFL contracts

People like to talk about Danny overpaying as if that's the reason we haven't won the Superbowl this decade. It's not, and it's important to note that not a single one of the many cap doomsday scenarios guaranteed by media prognosticators has come to pass (remember Lenny P's assurance that we would be fielding 20 or more rookies one year?).

My point being that, unless you object in principle to guys getting more money than they deserve, there's nothing to be upset at here.

Re: Redskins make the list of ESPN's worst NFL contracts

It's a dead horse for sure but hey, it is what it is. The Danny has dished out some pretty bad deals over the years.

Re: Redskins make the list of ESPN's worst NFL contracts

I will say this -- what is interesting about the list to me is the teams on it, and specifically, that none of them has had much of anything to do with the playoffs in years. If nothing else, it illustrates how a really bad deal involving lots of cap space and/or picks can really affect a team's ability to have consistently solid personnel.

One might think that several teams would have the occasional dud. But with the Redskins and Raiders taking up much of the list, it surely highlights the failings of management.

Yep, all obvious ones we can't deny.
