Dockery Cut:
Just heard it on NFL radio -- will work on finding a link. Would you give him a decent contract to have him come back? I know I would!
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Yes!
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Wow, guess they finally realized he wasn't worth that monster deal. I would certainly welcome him back with a more reasonable contract.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
OMG!!! Yeah get him. Get him. Get him.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Here's the link, looks like Royal is going to be cut too.

Re: Dockery Cut:
Thanks Ruhskins.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Sign him back at @ $2 million a year.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Wow this is unexpected.. Like Matty said, I'm more than glad to welcome him back w/ reasonable contract..
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
I'd bet Bugel would like to have Dock back too. Plug him back in at LG and keep Kendall around for depth.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Bring him home to LG... so long Pete you played like a warrior.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
I think acquiring Dockery at a reasonable price would help us big time. He's not ancient like the rest of our line, and after being cut I don't think he's in a position to ask for much $$. I think this can allow us to get a LB in the draft with the first round pick, and/or add youth to the line with the rest of the picks.

"Reasonable price" is subjective. I'm no expert, but he one of the better o-linemen currently available (certainly better than a Stacey Andrews). I imagine he'll get a decent payday somewhere with all the cap room available around the league. And I would like to see Dock back in D.C. by the way. |

"Dockerey had a subpar year in 2008 and was not dominant enough, particularly in pass protection". I go to Bills games. he played less than subpar. he may be 28 but will be 29 by season opener. I would'nt be to excited to get him back but he's still young enough to bounce back so yes. 3.5M |
Re: Dockery Cut:
Problem is he could be in line for another pretty big payday though…any halfway competent lineman under 30 seems to break the bank these days.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
he wont be in line for another BIG payday, but he would certainly be in our price range. I'd love to have him back and he is well worth a contract averaging 4-5M a year but not much more than that.
Personally, i'd love to have him back. |

Re: Dockery Cut:
... Dock will play better when he's back in the B & G, especially playing alongside Samuels. It's time for the big guy to come home and I hope this is our next FA move.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
YES ! You bring him back NOW !!!!
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
I love this shi......We should jump all over Dockery, hes not going to get a huge payday anywhere, he was just cut outright to save 25million under the cap for the bills..
Give him a 7-8 mill bonus and 5mill per yr and lock him up at guard for the next 4yrs |
Re: Dockery Cut:
Yes, bring him back in. He and Samuels already have chemistry, re-sign Kendal for depth.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
To me, our entire off-season plan hinges on the result of the AH deal. If it happens, then I don't foresee signing anybody other than Hall. If it doesn't, then let's sign Dock, Andrews, Canty and Crowley. Solid pick-ups at reasonable prices.
IMO, it is akin to the 2004 off-season. Jevon Kearse was the big-money aquisition. We went after him hard. Instead of throwing (at the time) obscene money at him and getting no one else, we let him go to Phil. Instead, we gave solid contracts to M. Washington, C. Griffin, S. Springs, J. Salavea and T. Tupa. I would much prefer a free-agent class similar to the 2004 group than one big signing. |
Re: Dockery Cut:
I think i would be happy enough if the Skins brought Dock back that i could forgive them for one or two of bone-head moves and non-moves the skins have made and will make during this free-agency period.
Dock back in the B&G would be a beautiful thing to see. |
Re: Dockery Cut:
Well, sounds like we're all in agreement then :)
... who's gonna make the call to Redskins Park |
Re: Dockery Cut:
Come on home Dock! We did'nt sell your house...we just rented it out. I think he'd play better here anyway under Buges.

Re: Dockery Cut:
JLC's take:
We're monitoring the situation with former Skins guard Derrick Dockery, who was cut by the Buffalo Bills. Obviously, the Skins are very familiar with Dockery, whom they drafted and watched develop into a solid NFL guard duirng his four seasons at Redskins Park. Ultimately, money, and the salary-cap situation, might prevent Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato from bringing back Dockery. But Dockery is a "Joe Bugel guy," so it's difficult to imagine that Snyder and Cerrato wouldn't at least explore the situation.
Montgomery Receives Tender; Dockery on Market (Updated) - Redskins Insider |
Re: Dockery Cut:
This could be like Fred Smoot all over again (leave for big money, get humbled, and come home)
|

But hopefully he can play better than Smoot. |

... u don't mean Dock will be half the player he was the first time around right? |
Re: Dockery Cut:

I actually meant Angelo Crowell from Buffalo. |

Gotcha. SmootSmack, what are your thoughts about Dockery, think the team would go for him? |
Re: Dockery Cut:
They are definetly going to make a play for Dockery, but if this thing with Haynesworth has any teeth to it, forget about Dockery, Haynesworth, and Hall. IMPOSSIBLE!
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Oh yeah come on home ...what's up Doc?

The thing is if you can give them all long deals and focus their newly signed contracts to be minimized year one then you can sign all of these guys. If they are gambling on the cap not being there next year it won't matter how they loophole the first year cost and stipulate their payments in the second year. It really looks like they are just trying to acquire all the talent this year regardless of cost in preparation of there being no cap next year. It's smart but it is an aggressive gamble. |
Re: Dockery Cut:
I would think the Skins would at least show interest in Dock, they should.
|
Re: Dockery Cut:
Interest would be GREAT!
I just don't want it to be attached to a ride in "Redskin 1" and an $88m check |

Sign Dock and Hall, be realistic and forget about Haynesworth. He'll probably be a Buc, and be a good player for a while, but why give a player who is going to be out of his prime in 2-3 years a long term contract tying up that much money? It's stupid, but so is Vinny. |
