I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
You only have to answer in one word if you wish, but if you prefer the long winded dramatic explanation, I know how you feel.
*NO TRADE DOWNS! MAKE A PICK!* 1) Jason Smith 2) Eugene Monroe 3) Aaron Curry 4) Michael Oher 5) Brian Orakpo 6) Andre Smith 7) Jeremy Maclin 8) Michael Crabtree 9) Tyson Jackson 10) Everette Brown 11) Rey Maualuga 12) BJ Raji Yeah, it's kind of a worst case scenario for the Redskins, but you know what, that just makes it more fun. Any other name in the draft, we want to know who is the next star of the Washington Redskins. Mods, if you guys want to put a poll up for some of the early favorites, that'd be great. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
This is an easy one for me. Alex Mack-Center-Cal. It's time to stop putting the win on the defenses shoulders all the time. Nice Thread!

Your right it is easy, but you have the wrong answer. Trade down. |

Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
No Brainer.
REY MAUALUGA |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Maybin DE, Really torn and could go with Rey, but I think our LB corps will flush out with a player who is cut or still out in FA. Mack and Rey would be close calls, happy with any of the 3

??? Did you even bother reading what the thread is about? :benched: Sit there for awhile and think about it. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Rey Maualuga
Though Alex Mack @ 13 is killing me (I think he would also be a great pickup for us). |

You didn't read the instructions mister, no trades :) ... this is far from a worst case scenario IMO. The hardest hitter in the 2009 draft is somehow still on the board and he plays a position we're thin at. |

You should change your user name to AlexMackFan. :) I would definitely go with Rey Maualuga in this case. I personally think he's gonna be a pro-bowler until 2020. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Our biggest need happens to be best player availible....REY MAUALUGA
|
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Hmm, I might have to switch Maualuga and Cushing halfway though, just to see what that would create. I'm guessing a lot of the Maualuga picks probably want him because he was responsible for Cushing's college production.
Carry on though, this response is certainly stronger than I expected this quickly. If you have already answered, and you went with Rey-Rey, I'm wondering how you would pick if the Bills went with Maualuga instead of Cushing. |

man people dont pay attention |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
... one minute...
edit: yeah, rey's the obvious choice. if he were gone i'm not sure i'd go cushing though, lemme see what else would be available. more than likely someone takes a QB so another choice is free though. |

Ditto. But if Rey is gone and Cushing/Matthews are still available (Matthews will be almost for certain) i'd take Matthews :) |

To me, he would clearly be the best player available. If the Bills took Maualuga, I don't think that I'd take Cushing. I might, but I'd strongly consider taking Mack or I might freak out the entire Redskins Nation by taking Beanie Wells. I guess I'd take Mack, assuming that he can play either C or G. It gets a lot harder with Rey-Rey gone. |

Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
i think i'd skip maybin, since he's not big enough at DE and we're not running a 3-4.
I think if rey went where cushing was, i'd try to trade down and take mack i guess (or lauranitis)... jenkins is slow, we don't really need davis, DHB is good, but unlike crabtree, he's not a 100% guarantee and we have other needs. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
NOTICE: I'm going to switch Maualuga and Cushing. I really think he will be available when we pick. However, and I can't blame you guys for taking him, Rey's running away with this informal poll right now.
Brian Cushing is re-available. If you already went for Rey, feel free to get back in on this one! |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Rey Mauluga. He has the potential to be really special at his position. You've got to take a player like that when you get the chance. THink about looking back at this draft in four years. He'll be a standout.
I know I've been high on drafting O-Line for quite a while, but I think we've taken some steps to address that. For those that want Alez Mack, he WILL be available in the 2nd. If we want him, trade down. And, no, I didn't violate this thread's NO TRADE DOWN CLAUSE! :postcop: |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Gotta be a homer and go with Aaron Maybin.
|
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Mathews way over Cushing, Mathews will be superior over any OLB other than Curry
|
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
It's too high for him, but I will also go ahead and pick Alex Mack. He has a much lower bust potential than almost anyone left and I think Rabach stinks.
This draft class is pretty piss poor overall. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Since Rey is gone at 11, draft Maybin.
|
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Mack - like I said in another thread; he is almost guaranteed to be a stud C, which we will need for years to come.. Especially within few years, due to 3-4 defense becoming popular..
Rey sounds tempting, but we already have Fletcher.. Plus we have Blades, who is supposed to take over once Fletcher is gone.. He has been pretty solid every chance he played.. So |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Good thread, tough choices left. Matthews, Cushing, Maybin, Mack? All possible choices I'd be fairly content with, I still like Duke Robinson a lot too (though 13 might be a tad too high)...but the more I've watched of Laurinaitis lately...whatever it is, he has it. He's like the White London Fletcher, except he'd play the WILL
Plus, we'd have Animal on our side |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
I have no idea y people like laurinatis, I see a bust, and no , he doesn't have "it". He does have slowness though and is a big nice "PASS" for me (same with marcus freeman)...I'll take pretty much any other LB over the two Ohio state LBs
|

We'll agree to disagree then. I thought he'd be a bust also, until I watched a bunch of game tape |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Understand that I'm talking about selecting Laurinaitis if Oher, Smith (both of them), Monroe, Maualuga (though that might be a toss-up), Curry, and Jackson are all gone
|
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Mark Sanchez, and no i'm not joking...
ok, maybe just a little. Rey Rey... if GTripp switched things around and had him going before we selct, then Alex Mack. |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
see, at that point, there's nobody at 13 that wouldn't be there (for us) at 25-30.
do you take davis? a qb? nah... moreno? maybe, but that's a waste.. i mean, the draft board at that point is basically mack, lauranitis, heyward-bay, and matthews, but taking any of them at 13 would be a stretch. |

*NO TRADE DOWNS! He would be the highest rated player available by far We could trade him for picks/ essentially trading down |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Mack would be great for us, but he's a HUGE stretch at 13. I haven't seen a single mock draft with him going in the 1st round.

I saw an early draft board that had him going at the bottom of the 1st round... can't remember right now whether it was SI, ESPN, or NFL. Anywho, i totally agree w/ you GM. It's also impractical cuz I doubt the FO will cut Rabach and put all their eggs in the Mack basket... Mack probably wouldn't even start for a while. So basically it saves us no money this year and means center eats up two full roster spots for the year... oh yeah we don't get a franchise LB either :( |
Re: I give you the first 12 picks, Give me your Redskins draft pick!
Alex Mack, Hands down. I don't care where he's projected.

I've seen him picked at 20 by Detroit, they need line help, at 22 by Minnesota, good replacement for Matt Birk, and 32 by Pittsburgh, they know the value of a great center. This is a great thread. Most fun I've had on here in a while. Definitely better than all the FO bashing. :) |

His top 12 looks really similar to this thread. Huh. ;) |
