What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
I know people are going to tell me this as been brought up already but i cant find the post so i'm starting another. I would see if the Jets would give up Vernon Gholston for our 1st round and give us one of their 2nd rounds, i know their not happy with him. What do you think.

Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Trade down, get an additional pick/picks and stay in the 1st round and go after Alex Mack (hopefully he's there).
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
id like to trade down. this is a deep draft, we could get an elite back imo late in the first round like mccoy or moreno, maybe a shonne green in the 2nd or 3rd. id love us to take a running back if we can move down, portis always wears down and he is approaching 30. great player still but this is the perfect draft to take a running back. anyways, trade down get maualuga, johnson, or if no one on the lines or quality lb is there get a rb

I think that's crazy. Vernon Gholston was a bust, so why would we give New York a first rounder for him? Just so that we can have their second round pick? Are you a Jets fan? |
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Huh? Gholston was an epic bust. He was supposed to be an immediate impact player, and he couldn't even get on the field. Hell, he was so bad he was actually deactivated for a few games by Mangini. He even earned the nickname "Ghost" becuase he was so invisible.
I would definitely not be opposed to trading our pick, but only for multiple first day picks and definitely not for Vernon friggin Gholston. |
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Vernon Gholston is a 4 -3 defense guy not a 3- 4 he just wants to go after the QB. Put him at the left end he's young. I'm just putting it out there.
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
granted hes only played 1 season, for some reason i saw gholston as probable bust when he was drafted. im not surprised, theres something about ohio state players that makes me skeptical i dont know why

I thought we were going to trade our 1st to the Bengals so we could get Benson to back up Portis? |
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
I'd trade down, and get at late first and mid to late second rounder...I'd get larry English with the first and phil loadholt with the second rounder...hopefully this trade could come with Miami and getting their first and what was our second rounder now theirs...
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
If I had a choice between using it or trade it, I'd trade it for a lower first and an extra pick. Same reason as SFREDSKIN. Gholston was someone I was wary of and he hasn't given me any reason to change my mind.
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Trade down to the mid 20's and select T. Jacson DE from LSU. Depending on who we trade with we could pick up a 2nd. In that case I draft a RT or a C like either Unger or Mack because I think one of them is falling into the 2nd. In the 3rd I'd take Spencer Adkins from Miami (FL). His pro day I think he ran a 4.4 and benched 225 25 times.

Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Keep our first rounder and go after an OT. Trade our other 3 picks this year for a high second round pick (since we are cap restrained). There are a couple of teams with multiple picks in the 2nd round. Use the second round pick to go after a C for depth behind Rabach, and then let's go to work...!

Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Take one of the top five ot. Gholston could not start for his own team why would we want him and his contract.
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
i really dont give a crap what they do. as long as who ever they pick, they can come in and play. no more projects
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
Trade down for a low first and a second and take a young DE and RT
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
I was thinking that we should trade down earlier on but I've since changed my mind. I say use the 13th on you know who.
|
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
who is you know who

Id be all for the trade down in the first and Larry English, hes a stud.. Id go OT Jamon Meredith in the 2nd though.....and ditto the Miami trade |
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
I don't get the trade down mentality. We can probably get a near certain starter at #13. I think the FO would have trouble passing on one of these guys: Oher, A. Smith, Ty Jackson, E. Brown, Maualuga, M. Johnson, Mack, or Cushing.
That's 8 players. Another 6 players who are virtually certain to be gone by the time we pick are: Curry, J. Smith, Monroe, Orakpo, Crabtree, and Raji. That makes a total of 14 players, so at least 2 of the players I listed as possible Redskins picks are nearly sure to be there when we pick. If the teams that pick above us make some mistakes, it's not out of the realm of possibility that one of the top 6 might be there, as well. So I think we'll probably use the 13th pick. |

If I had to choose 1 of those 6 falling out of the top 12 Orakpo is the most likely to fall out, but if he's taken we should trade out and draft 1 of the 8 players (you mentioned earlier), later in the 1st and depending on who we trade with we could gain a 2nd. |

Oh, I understand that part perfectly. It is a mindset created by the inconsistent approach taken by the FO. Still, that's no reason to pass up the opportunity to draft a potential starter in the 1st round. |

Emmitt? Low blow guys, low blow. No I was referring to Alex Mack. I don't think he's going to fall to the second round. Someone is going to snag him up. This guy is going to be sought after by a lot of teams.

Once I traded it, I'd probably try to use it.

I must be. I usually don't miss things like that. |
Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
My biggest concern w/ trading out of the 13th overall is missing out on true 1st round talent. My biggest fear going into the draft is Vinny trading out of the 1st round completely... if this is the only trade scenario available we ought to stay at 13 IMO.

Re: What would you do with the 13th pick, use it or traded it.
I think I'd like to see us trade down to later in the first if possible. Of course it takes two to dance and we'd need to get another pick that could give us starter level talent. To me a later 1 and 3 could offer us two picks to get starters and if we evaluate talent well then there's a good chance that an OLinemen we take with one of them would be better than one of the "top" ones we are looking at now. If we could trade down to the low 20's maybe Mack is there and then we can take a more project like RT in the 3rd?

It's probably too risky if the Skins expect to get a starter in a position of need in the 1st Round. We're lucky to be at #13 because there won't be many "sure things" beyond that point. You are talking about dropping 7 or 8 slots. That's a lot when you consider that some of the intervening teams have similar needs to our own. |
