Comcast to lose NFL Network?

Looks like Comcast and NFLNT can't come to an agreement so Comcast is dropping them. Great. =(

I only order it in-season but still I like watching their games. I am slowly thinking of going back to Directv but I need them to place my disk in a diffrent location this time. We will see I truly hate DircTV and their customer service.

No big loss, NFL is milking Comcast customers as it is. I will miss NFL Playbook with Sterling Sharpe and Brian Baldinger though...that show is very informative.

Actual Iwill just go out for the handful of games that I watch on the Network. Good excuse to get out of the house.

Funny I've had nothing but good experiences with DTV customer service. I just got my DTV back last week. I suffered with Time Warner cable for the last 2 months, ugh.

re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?

I simply can't survive w/out NFL Network. Especially now. Path to the Draft and Total Access is keeping me going right now. But Direct TV has been VERY painful. The shit goes out when it rains, they messed up my bill and over charged me for crap I didn't order, they just plain suck. But when the season starts you can't beat the NFL Ticket. That is the only reason I've stuck it out.

Me neither. It does go out temporarily if it rains really hard, but besides that I'd take it over cable any day. And, obviously, it is the only way to see all the Skins games down here.

95% of my time with DTV this was true about 8 years I had them, then I moved to B-more from NOVA and it was a totally diffrent story.

Pretty much sums it up for me in B-more with them. They are laying the fiber optic cables for Fios in my front yard and hood now, so it is only a matter of time before I switch to Fios.

To be honest it is pick your posion with all of them. Each has their pro's and con's.

I went through some serious NFLN withdrawal the last 2 months. It's always my go to channel.

Ok that is dated 3/14. This message just appeared yesterday (3/19) on my comcast. I think comcast has just thrown up their hands and are giving up.

From what I've seen, this is the actual message:
"To our Sports Entertainment Pack customers: in spite of Comcast's efforts, the NFL may terminate Comcast's right to carry NFL Network, as a result, the network may be removed from your lineup on May 1."

May be removed.

I have FIOS and I love it. Had too many issues with DirecTV (windy days, storms, a bird farting on the antenna) and Comcast is a freaking monopoly here in Howard Co. (they used to be the only game in town until FIOS showed up). So far I'm happy with FIOS and I get DC and Baltimore local channels, something I didn't get with Dtv (only got B'more channels with them and it sucked).

I would think negotiations are ongoing. Both sides have a significant stake in things and working out a deal would be beneficial for all.

DUDE This is no lie I had the same thing placed on me and I fought them tooth and nail through AMEX and BBB. In my office is a framed letter from them saying I didn't have to pay it. It was the best fight of my life!

That is good to know becasue in Harford County on Comcast I get DC and B-more Fox, I was hoping Fios would be able to do this for me as well. Probably the only thing that would have kept me with Comcast is DC Fox.

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?

The NFLN people piss me off -- they want to have their cake and eat it too. Ideally they want NFL N on the lower tier packages, yet they want to charge the cable providers the same type of fees as subscription channels. This seems simple to me, make NFL N a subscription channel. Personally, I don't find the channel all that entertaining. Total Access takes an hour to learn what you could see after 5 minutes of reading on ESPN, they replay the same games over and over, top 10 can be solid, and playbook, imo, is all they really have going for them.

I also think it's ridiculous they get exclusive prime time games where some people due to their cable limitations can't see their team play when on in prime time.

They should put NFLN in a package with Sunday Ticket and make it a subscription for cable providers.

I upgraded two seperate times specifically to get..then to keep it when they bundled it in a sports package..taking it away from normal digital..

Comcast is nothing but a group of insincere banditos..they sold me the upgrade based on the programming..I am thinking of going to the States Attorney's office to find out if I can sever my agreement ...they suck

But I do really like the new Baseball Ch.

This has happened before, not long ago Comcast almost lost FOX but at the last minute they got a deal done. I doubt NFL Network will go anywhere. They are required to run these messages by law and I am sure an agreement will be reached in time

That was something that NFL Network made Comcast do. They didn't like the fact that they were giving it away for free.

Cable nickels and dimes you each month w/o notice. My DTV bill is constant to the penny for the last 10 yrs. Oh by the way, cable applied and was approved by congress to raise their rates this year and now screwing you by removing the NFL channel and they don't have the MLB channel either!

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?

I've found DirecTV's customer service to be hit or miss. For the most part, I like it though. If you get a good customer service rep, they will try to appease any complaint by giving you free HBO, SHOWTIME, FLIX or whatever. I once even almost got free Season Ticket for like the final 3 or 4 weeks of the season. They will also take $5 or $10 off your bill for anywhere between 6 months to a year. In all my years with them, I've always had some form of discount on my monthly bill. They are pretty good about trying to keep customers.

i agree with the rate increase thing because they are constantly raising their rates. They do have the MLB channel now though

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?

I left Comcast about 5 years ago for Dish Network and have not had any complaints or problems. Best of all, after watching my cable bill go up every few months without an increase in the service I was paying for, it's been great to watch my Dish bill not only stay the same, but occasionally add channels without paying a penny extra. My Dish bill is now cheaper than the cable bill was 5 years ago. If I had stuck with cable, I'd be paying at least $20 more per month right now than my Dish bill.

I even get Comcast Sportsnet on Dish, along with MASN, MASN2, Big10, NFL Network, CBS College Sports network, a ton of ESPNs and a few other sports channels. :D

I can still watch Redskins Nation every night and watch Kelli Johnson go to Randy Thomas' house for BBQ grilling lessons on Sportsnite. :D

hah i did the same thing. i gave them the old verizon bait. they took a little over $50 off/month. they threw in free hbo, showtime, and cinemax. but to be honest, i watch nfl network 1/3 of the time i watch tv.
