MP3 prices going up
The recording industry sure knows how to ruin a good thing

Re: MP3 prices going up
Wow. I read this in an article a friend sent me but it's still weird.

Re: MP3 prices going up
I buy from Amazon and it seems they've followed suite. I only buy whole albums so I'm a happy camper if the price of albums stay under $10 which they are.
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
I like Amazon too
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
All the Applie groupies with iPods are still buying it seems. I'm not sure what it takes to piss these people off or if that's even possible.
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
Never bought an MP3 and never will. I hate the idea of not being able to physically hold it and the potential for losing a HD and all that money paid for the lost music.
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
I dont buy many MP3's, but cant you re-DL since the MP3 is bound to your account? Or am I totally off base here?
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
All you need is a backup drive. Externals are pretty cheap these days. Plus you can always just pull them back off your ipod.

True, but I don't feel like wasting money on it, like I said, if I pay for a CD, I want to hold it. I build PCs but with music, I'm a bit old-fashioned I guess. |
Re: MP3 prices going up
I used to feel the same way but there's something pretty cool about being able to carry around my entire music collection in my pocket. Plus it's nice to have the extra space in my house that was previously cluttered up with hundreds of CD cases.
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
The way I see it is that if you bought it and you lose it you can all ways re-download from a bit-torrent site guilt free.

they're too apathetic to care, they overpay for macs, they probably think that the higher priced mp3s are that much better too.. |

Basically my thought. I can't live without my Ipod now. I even use a shuffle for exercising. The thing is the size of a matchbook and holds enough music for me to basically never repeat a song. How I ever exercised without it is beyond me now. |

Yep me too. At first I tried the arm strap thingie with my regular ipod but I found that to be a pain in the ass and kinda distracting. Bought the shuffle which I previously thought I would have no use for, now I can't go to the gym without it. Damn you Apple! |
Re: MP3 prices going up
What's an MP3? Seriously, I've heard of them but I don't know what they are. Is it like a walk-man without the CD or tape that you can download music off the computer with?

c'mon really? |
Re: MP3 prices going up
c'mon really?
Yeah really. I don't have the time or the inclination to go out and buy the latest gadget or toy that comes out. I'm holding out for the everything system, you know the computer, phone, television, fax, pager, CD player, GPS, that's small enough to go anywhere and you can plug into a flat screen. Does the MP3 or iphone do that? |
Re: MP3 prices going up
This can't be.

It's just a mini hard drive with a screen. The iphone is closer to the everything device you're talking about. |

My computer went to poop last weekend but with my iPod I was still able to check email, read this site and any others, check the weather, sports score, etc. Now if you have the iPhone you can really do a lot. I don't think there is any way to plug it into an HDMI outlet on a TV yet, but I wouldn't be suprised if that was right around the corner. |

I have a 120gb ipod right now, I can't see going backwards in that dept. |
Re: MP3 prices going up
You filled up 120 gigs?
|
Re: MP3 prices going up
You filled up 120 gigs?
Right now I'm using about 42gb which is about half of all my music. So I really don't need all of it, once the touch goes up to 60gb or so which I'm guessing it will pretty soon I'll bite and buy one. |

Same argument my friend had. I personally wouldn't need the higher capacity, though something around 32Gb would be the sweet spot. You can slam several videos on it, a bunch of music, etc. I know having an all in one device is sweet, but for the same reason as having a shuffle for the gym I'd want a slightly smaller device for music. Not to mention it's just going to wear the battery's charge and lifespan down if I use it for more than just a phone and for data. So I'd rather carry two devices, even if it took up an extra pocket/spot in my carry-on, etc |

Yeah, I've got the 8gb (which really only holds 7.1gb) but I wish I had at least the 16gb. I don't have a ton of music on it, but I think it'd be cool to get some TV shows on there. Either that, or figure out a way to get something like Hulu.com to work on it. Likewise, and sorry that this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know if there is a way to get a site like hulu.com to play on a PS3? I can't figure it out. |

Hey, hey now... not all of us owners are Jobs worshipers. I grew up building PCs and used to slam the Mac groupies, myself. Until I bought one. I wouldn't use anything else to make music or edit video. They're that good when it comes to production. No drivers, no system reboots, no worries. You mean the mp3 isn't better quality with the price increase? ;) |
