Happy Tax Day!

Uncle Sam thanks you. Are you getting money back or are you square? Anyone attending a teabag party?

Teabag party just sounds wrong. :)

I'm getting $$ back and I'll be doing my best to pump it right back into the economy.

Re: Happy Tax Day!

I did my taxes back in the beginning of Feb.

How many of the Warpath members wait until the last day? I always like to do mine ASAP even if I owe money. I suffer from CRS and would surely forget if I waited until the 11th hour.

Re: Happy Tax Day!

I always get a refund, so the sooner, the better. I did mine at the end of February, and had my Federal refund in about a week (State of Maryland in 2 business days).

The latest I waited was March 31st one year...but I was young, dumb and lazy then. Some say while I'm no longer young, I'm still dumb and lazy...

Monkeydad 04-15-2009 10:41 AM

Re: Happy Tax Day!

Did mine in the first week of Feb, as soon as I could (always have one W-2 to wait for from a lazy employer...)

By the way, the Tea Parties are more about educating and showing resistance to spending and the Government overtaking every aspect of life than it is about high taxes.

If you think our taxes are high now (which they are)...just wait, they'll be going UP and UP in the next few years, then we'll REALLY have something to complain about. We really haven't seen anything yet. Look at Europe.

GMScud 04-15-2009 10:57 AM

Re: Happy Tax Day!

I also did mine the first week of Feb. Got a pretty decent refund.

Nope, I get nothing back because they already gave it to me with the porkulus bill. They said they gave me $600 but the check was only for $300. Oh well . . . . We're having a tea party in the center of Richmond right across from where I work. Sadly I'll not be there because I'm going to see the Greatful Dead in Charlottesville. It's a shame too. I was looking forward to hitting on some Conservative chicks. There's always next year.

MTK 04-15-2009 11:13 AM

Re: Happy Tax Day!

I usually get mine in right away but this year we had to wait as we had a lot of complicated issues. Had to hire someone to do them.

Re: Happy Tax Day!

Can anyone hear tell me what they even paid in taxes this year without looking at there tax return? Funny how the liberals make fun of people who are tired of a bloated goverment that waist our tax money like they are some idiots. The idiots are the people who think the goverment is great and we should just keep sending them more money for them to waist.

I had to wait for all sorts of documents to trickle in. Did mine last weekend. Big fat refund coming my way but I won't be injecting the economy beyond maybe to the tune of $300. I'm thinking of getting that Flip Video HD recorder.

firstdown, if you don't know how much you owe your loan shark best have health insurance.

Did mine awhile ago, but just actually typed the information in online yesterday for state. Money back -- hurray!

At this point I have no clue but my CPA towards the end of the year does a quick review to see if I should pay more taxes before the end of the year. That way its paid by the business account rather then doing my taxes and having to pay more with a personal check. My CPA files an extension every year for the corps. he does taxes for so he can knock out all the personal returns first.

My question about who can tell me what they paid in taxes this year has nothing to do if you owe money or getting a refund. It was making the point that most people do not even have a clue what they pay each year to the federal goverment.

Collectively we will, this year, pay about 1.5 trillion less in taxes than the government will spend, so we're getting a really good deal. In fact it's the best deal any taxpayers have gotten in the history of the world. And its only fair that our kids should pick up the tab. Hopefully they won't reduce the debt by having us all euthanized which would serve us right. Or at least it would serve the Baby Boomers right because I place the blame squarely on them. Worst Generation Ever.

I drove through the VB City Center area at around noon to check in on the gathering and it was pretty accurately described in the Pilot about 600 - 700 people, lots of signs, peaceful, didn't see any counter-protestors. Traffic in the area was no problem.

What is up with all of these "Tea Parties", chanting they want the USA back and freedom? We are trying to do that when we elected Obama into office, duh.

Sounds like they should call it "Sour Grapes Party" instead of "Tea Party".

After all we've done for our kids the least they can do is let us spend them into oblivion. Come to think of it, they can't do anything about it anyway, most of them can't vote yet. Let's keep spending away!

I still believe that Obama got elected chiefly because most Americans wanted someone in office who was at least talking about getting out of Iraq. John McCain on the other hand, was telling us we might be there another hundred years.

To all those Republicans and "conservatives" who were stubborn as a mule about staying in Iraq -- I wonder how they feel now? I don't like the march toward socialism either. If you had the choice between 'staying the course' in Iraq, or slowing down size, scope of power and spending by the U.S. government, what would you choose?

Most of you know how I feel about it -- I'll take saving our own country against socialism over securing Iraq every single day of the week.

I was there around 11. I think Lee Greenwood was singing. I was looking for the counter-protestors too, but didn't see any.

I wonder what the staffers in Jim Webb's office right across the street were thinking?

Its about people who are tired of high taxes and growing goverment at every chance they get. I don't look at this as a Rep. or Dem. thing because both parties are guilty.

If you don't know what you're paying in taxes your problem is incompetence toped with inept personal finance skills. Taxes are the least of your problems. Has it ever occurred to you that people look at their tax returns now and then? That they have an idea what they are paying? Perhaps you want them to know to the penny? What exactly is the point you're trying to make? That if people knew what they were paying the would think like you? They would be outraged?

You should refrain from this line of argument in the future, it makes you look really retarded. No disrespect.

I love how liberals call people stupid, retards and then throw in that crap of "NO Disrespect". That is just what it is so don't call me something then act like it was nothing. Now that retarted. With disrespect. Why would not knowing what you pay in taxes be incompetence toped with inept personal finance skills? Why would it matter to a point because there is really nothing a person can do but pay the taxes. The point was most people have taxes taking out of their check and they really just don't pay attention to what they pay. I tried to find the poll but if I remember correctly something like 58% (maybe even higher) did not know.

Everyone says stupid things now and then, in your case I felt inclined to point that out as nicely as possible with no disrespect intended. Some other folks around here probably wouldn't have gotten the same curtasy. In any case, what you're saying is pointless and absurd. Find the study then we can talk, until then mon ami.
