Stole my suggestion earlier this week that Orakpo would fall to us at 13. Trading up to get Sanchez would be a big mistake. If we want him, let's take him at 13. Don't move up to get him. Some think the Rams may actually take Sanchez at 2, which would make all our lives easier.

I continue to hear that the Skins' primary focus is to move up to draft USC quarterback Mark Sanchez; however, if they do not and if Brian Orakpo is untaken at 13, he would be a frontrunner for them. (That is assuming Sanchez were off the board.) Moving up for Sanchez will likely require that the Redskins move to the third or fourth spot. Both Kansas City and Seattle are amenable to dealing down, according to sources. The New York Jets, who pick at 17, are the other team highly motivated to move up and get Sanchez.

Several sources have suggested the Redskins have begun to send out feelers on what it might take to get Seattle's pick, and the Seahawks, at this stage, would likely seek two first-round picks on the high end. That was a price the Redskins were willing to pay for Chad Johnson last year and Jay Cutler a few weeks back, although neither deal was completed.


If the market for those picks were to dry up and with not too many teams pushing to move into the top five, perhaps a first- and second-, or first- and third-round pick would get it done as the draft gets closer. I wouldn't expect any trade of this type to come down until 12-to-24 hours before the draft at the earliest. The Redskins could also peddle Jason Campbell in one of these trade scenarios, though K.C. and Seattle might not be interested. One thing that might work in the Skins' favor as well, several NFL sources pointed out, is that the bad blood between K.C.'s new boss, Scott Pioli, and the Jets might make it harder for those teams to get a deal done. Also, it's going to take more to move up from 17 than from 13.

As for Orakpo, he is set to leave Redskins Park in a few hours. He arrived here yesterday for his official visit, according to a league source (USC linebacker Brian Cushing also took an official visit here and to other teams this week, though I continue to believe that the Skins would rather not take a linebacker at 13).

By the weekend, Orakpo will have made official visits to Cleveland, Denver, Houston and the Skins, and also worked out for Cincy, according to a source. Green Bay also scouted him heavily at his pro day. The highest several sources thought he would go is to Cleveland with the fifth pick, though that seems a bit high to some.

The execs and agents I talk to expect a run on offensive players to continue, and maybe Green Bay will take him at No. 9. He might be better-suited to a 4-3 team, though, and they're implementing the 3-4. Denver at 12 is another serious option, with defensive coordinator Mike Nolan pursuing players like Orakpo in the past, but if Malcolm Jenkins or a tackle is on the board when they pick, the Broncos could easily go in that direction.

McShay and Kiper both indicated that the Seahawks are strongly considering Sanchez and #4 and it's not likely he's going to last past #8. Hopefully we don't have the ammo to get him.

I'm going to be completely disgusted if we would throw away more draft picks to get Sanchez...Havent we learned anything??? Danny Boy: WE CANNOT BUILD A SUPERBOWL TEAM THIS WAY!!! How come he doesnt get this yet? You cannot throw away draft picks and then over pay vets PERIOD Its not fantasy football......sorry at work and just didnt want to read this at the end of my day. We really need some OL help....or a starting OLB would be nice...........Jason can get it done.

I love it! By the time the draft comes around JLC will have speculated that we could very well be interested in taking every one of the top fifteen prospects available.

Or that we will either trade up or trade down.

Right now I really don't see us staying at 13 we're either gonna trade up or trade down it'll probably be a trade down which would be great cause that's more picks and hopefully they won't dump all our picks for sanchez

Someone, say like Alex Mack? I would trade down, pick Mack, get and additional draft pick and go for a LB with the second pick, then a DE. We'll see what the FO will do.

SFREDSKIN -- I am with you on that, lets take Mack and a 2nd rounder. This is officially the best case scenario in my eyes, after one of the "big 4" OTs falling to us.

I had'nt really thought of it that way Tripp but it works for me. I just want him on OUR line.......for many, many years. Up or down, let's get him.

I'm hoping Orakpo will drop down to pick 13 but if not I could see us drafting Maualuga.
There is no reason for even thinking about Sanchez. He will just end up as another bust.
But Snyder gets what Snyder wants.

I think we should go offensive line first, I could also see getting caldwell in the 3rd round, the center from alabama. If we get him and one of the top tackles we'll be doing quite well.

I like mack but the more I read about Duke Robinson the more I think he'll be a good fit for us. He's a good run blocking guard and probably could move to right tackle if he slimmed down a bit.

We should trade Snyder and picks next year to New England for Robert Kraft. That's a winning deal. I want us to hang on to every draft pick but I'd jump at this deal. :)

The problem is that Snyder thinks like a fan, like some of the people on this forum who wanted to get rid of Campbell and get Cutler. We basically have a crazy fan running the team, and well Cerrato and Zorn want to keep their jobs so they go along with it.

He's gonna be a big 'ole bust. Fat, lazy, doesn't elevate his game to higher competition. He relies on being the bigger bully but when he gets punched in the mouth he's all bark and no bite. Let someone else make that mistake.

This Sanchez debate is a tempest in a teapot. We're not going to get him. There are a number of teams who need a QB who either draft in front of us, have more ammunition to move up than we do, or both. Again, it ain't gonna happen.

Trade down into the 20's. Get a 2nd round pick. LDE Ty Jackson in the 1st. RT Phil Loadholt in the 2nd. DE Lawrence Sidbury in the 3rd. Move Sidbury to SLB. Mission accomplished.

Sidbury has been getting a lot of hype lately. I doubt he'll fly under the radar and slip to 3rd. But that would be ideal.

Sounds great to me, but that's an awful lot of linemen for the tastes of our front office.

Dan Snyder would be as happy with that draft as he would getting a pair of tube socks for Christmas.

No one really knows what's going to happen, but the two people I trust most when it comes to the draft say we are taking Orakpo at #13 (that he will actually be there at that point). I hope they're right.

Anybody grab the Draft preview by USA Today? There's a pic of Orakpo of him lifting towing chains and man is that guy ripped. He looks like he has cinder blocks on his shoulders!
