Swine Flu
I don't know if you guys have been keeping up with this. I hope it doesn't cause a panic but Mexico is thinking about shutting down Mexico City, which is crazy.
A handful of cases in the US, but no deaths. Quite a bit in Mexico. |

Re: Swine Flu
Why are the Mexican's freaking out but we still let them run in an out of the US every day? I'm not talking about illegals but Mexican's who cross the boarder everyday for work. The goverment knows they have a major problem but its wide open doors for them to cross as they please. You stop the spread of something from its source. I guess to many voted for Obama for him to cute them off at our expience.

It's officially impossible to discuss anything on this site other than football without politics forcing their way in. Sheesh. Damn Democrats. How dare they not have the foresight to restrict immigration just in case a random global swine flu pandemic breaks out? What a bunch of idiots. (I'm a Republican, but turning this into politics is lame as hell). |

What? You don't want Mexican influenza? I heard the Spanish influenza was just peachy! Add in some pigs and add some Aztecs and bamo, you've got Mexican influenza. Anyone who doesn't want the Mexican flu must be doing so because they're right-wing, militia, bigots. :spank: Why I ate Carnitas this weekend just so I could get it. I want to be the first kid on my block to spread the plague. |

So you don't have a problem with an open boarder when something like this is starting to spread? They shut down schools, goverment, and anything that draws a gathering of people but we have no problem letting them cross into the US to work everyday. |

What if you work beside one of these people? I don't have a problem with them comming here to work but with the problems there why let it spread into the US which is what we are doing. |

I have no problem with people coming here legally for work I just think its smart to shut down the boarders until they have a handle on the problem. There is a good reason why these people standing in line to cross into the US are wearing mask. |

I haven't been keeping up with this story enough, but I would certainly hope the CDC and the Department of Health are considering all the options to control the spread of this. |

Well maybe that's because we have a stock pile of flu shot for over 50 million people and states have their own stock piles. kare11.com | Twin Cities, MN | Swine flu: What you need to know |

I think maybe the World Health Organization might have a better sense than you or me what good is closing the border
Travel restrictions under consideration by the U.S. to prevent the spread of a new flu virus may be influenced by politics more than science, the World Health Organization’s chief said today. WHO doesn’t recommend closing borders or restricting the movement of people or goods, Margaret Chan, director-general of the United Nations agency told leaders from health groups around the world in a conference call today. The disease, which may have caused more than 100 deaths and sickened more than 1,000 people, has spread too far and would be impossible to contain by closing borders, she said.
Swine Flu Border Closures are Political, WHO Says (Update1) - Bloomberg.com |
Re: Swine Flu
First off what they are talking about is nations completly closing all travel in and out. I'm just saying shut down the Mexican boarder where we know this came from and where people are dying.

Fine, so all the decisions made in response to this are because Obama doesn't want to rock the Latino vote. You're right, it's all about politics. For you it seems it always turns to the evils of Obama and/or liberals http://www.thewarpath.net/546006-post9.html http://www.thewarpath.net/544203-post14.html Can you just let it go for one minute? Couldn't you have simply asked "Why don't we close the border (note how there is no a in border) until the problem is solved, would that help?" instead of throwing the whole Latinos voting for Obama angle? That wouldn't have at all been possible would it? |

I am an idiot for even engaging in this. Damn me! Dude, read the f*cking quote. If cutting off ALL travel in and out wouldn't be of much help why would closing the borders in the fashion you suggest be any better? Cutting off travel in only certain ways would be even LESS effective. Jesus Christ. What is the definition of an idealogue again? |

Re: Swine Flu
An empty vessel should be treated with respect. Sure, most of the time they're useless but when drunk it's a good vomiting container. When trapped in a car for long duration with no restroom in sight it's a nice piss container. When your chewing tobacco is all dry by god that vessel comes in handy.

Firstdown............I hear ya man, but its not going to do any good. The Flu is already over the border. Its hit as far as New York City. There is nothing that we can do to contain this. We just have to treat it as best as possible. Unfortunately, Thats all that we can do at this point. |
