Movies that make you cry?

C'mon admit it we've all gotten choked up at a good movie. The first movie that made me cry was E.T. when I was a kid. I cried like a baby when he died. LOL

That was probably the only movie that every made me really cry though. I admit I might get choked up. But I haven't flat out cried at a movie since then.

I get choked up really easily...just last week I had some tears streaming down my face during an episode of Scrubs.

I shed some tears when Fiona's father croaked in Shrek 2 (or was it 3?)

But as for flat out bawling...I remember as a kid an IMAX movie about astronauts made my cry (but that was more so because I was scared of the astronauts and their big helmets)

Oh I'm a huge sap. I admit it. I cry all the time during movies. I watched Gladiator again the other night. I always cry when they carry Maximus out of the Coliseum at the end.

Love stories don't get me too choked up, but I do like them. Things that make me cry are stories about leadership, character, overcoming adversity, the human spirit, things like that.

John Q. The whole damn movie...I just wonder what I would do if I was Denzel. That movie ****s me up, man. Sometimes Antoine Fisher gets me too, depends on my mood.
Marley and Me
My wife brings that one home not really knowing what it's about, just thinking it's a funny dog movie (keep in mind in Nov '07 we had to put my Siberian Husky to sleep at almost 15 yrs. old).....needless to say I didn't watch the end of the movie. I also let my wife know how much I appreciated her movie choice :spank:

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. There are a couple of movies that choke me up pretty good if I'm in the right frame of mind.

At the end of Big Fish when the son realizes that his dad wasn't just a big liar and he finishes his story for him.
In Forrest Gump when Forrest is talking to Jenny's grave, saying how smart little Forrest is.
The scene in Crash where the Iranian store owner goes to confront the locksmith with a gun, and his daughter came running out to "protect" her father.

And of course, "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy..."

A very good movie if you haven't seen it but you might need a tissue at the end.

Oh yeah, great flick right there. I definitely got choked up during that moment.

Speaking of Will Smith, has anyone seen Seven Pounds? I haven't but I'd like to.

Man on Fire was great and yes sad at the end. I was fighting the tears back.

Forrest Gump at the end...wow.

Marley and Me is on my Blockbuster queue next. My wife has told me i'll be bawling like a baby since we have a lab that has been together w/ us for our 7 years. I will be crying.

Last time was when I was watching a history channel show about WWII and they were interviewing concentration camp survivors. They had mixed in some footage from when they were liberated. Thought of what those people had to endure got me pretty choked up.

Schindler's List when they seperate the kids from the parents, and as they are carting off the parents the kids are waving, totally oblivious to what's going on... just kills me.

It was one night a week for 3 hours, and almost every class left everyone in tears.
We watched a couple of Hollywood movies (The Grey Zone and The Pianist) as well as a bunch of interviews with survivors and to say they were moving is a huge understatement.

I took a college course on the Holocaust too. One of the better and more memorable classes I ever took. We had a few survivors come in and it was unbelievable to hear their stories first hand.

Re: Movies that make you cry?

Man.....I saw Schindlers list when it came out.........I would NOT want to watch that again-POWERFUL movie.
My mom has some friends from the Netherlands, who now live in the states. Recently, a reunion was paid for (all travel, lodging, etc) and held by the Jewish survivors of WWII that numerous families from the Netherlands "hid" from the Nazi's.
My mom's friends (who were children at the time) were from two of the many families involved in the effort to save the refugee's. Naturally, the effort put all of them at great risk (and their families) and sometimes cost their lives for helping. I asked them how it went. Both of them got teary eyed and said they could not describe it.
I can only imagine........

I don't care if you like each other or not. But you will respect each other. And maybe -- I don't know -- maybe we'll learn to play this game like men.

100% agree...was not ready for them to actually show marley closing her eyes at the end after being put down. I have such a high love for dogs that I was teary eyed, and wanted to burn the movie.
