RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'

Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
This defense should be treaked to let the line get in the backfield and cause havoc. I believe this treaking of the scheme should help Montgomery join Haynesworth as the starter on the insider. If the line are allowed to play the run on the way to the passer we should have a damn good defense (No. 1 hopefully) to help our pathetic offense.

Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
I can't wait to see big Al crashing through the line and creating some havoc in the backfield, along with Orakpo flying off the edge... oh man is it the regular season yet or what?!
|
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
Well I'm glad Blache is open to doing some different things. I would like to see Haynesworths talent optimized here, not suppressed.

:headbange This is the most pysched I've been about this defense in a long time. Coupled with being the 2nd year for the rookies, and Campbells time in the WCO, my optimism is pretty high right now. But defense is what lights my fire and I can't wait to see our NFC East opponents lit up by the likes of AH and Rak. Bring it on! |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
im ready my self cant wait to see our guys rise to number one on defense this year
|
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
I haven't been this excited in long time. While our record should improve, the team will also be more fun to watch.

Yeah, even though I was syked last year, and the Defense was .... (everybody say it) ... ranked #4. It lacked that certain something. I don't think it had a fear factor to it, and I really hope that this year offenses dread stepping on the field. (particularly Romo) |

Man, ya know it. way way to long to go! |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
Defense wins championships and we have added players to improve on it. Every year is different so i hope we dont rest on last seasons defense but work harder and goo things will happen. I just pray that we keep our key players from any serious injuries in training camp and during the season. A key to success is staying healthy and having solid back ups that can step in and maintain the same high level of competion. We need another big year from the man in the middle London Fletcher who makes the defense go. We have some playmakers now that opponets have to game plan for now. Big Albert we need you to show the so called experts that you deserve every penny of your contract just by stopping the run and collasping the pocket.
|
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
we finally have some players that SHOULD be able to get after the qback. in turn, this should lead to more turnovers. at least im hoping

Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
I dont think Haynesworth gets more than 2 sacks this season. That doesn't mean he isn't going to be productive though. He will be getting the center turn every single snap letting our other Dline folks do a lot more. I think, if he's still properly motivated, he could be the catalyst to give us an elite defense. I bet our CBs look worlds better with a pass rush.
That said, I'm still not getting my hopes up until I see we can score points -- especially throwing the ball. Portis makes this offense go, but killing him early in the season cripples us towards the end. We need balance, we need to implement a real 2 back system (which most every other team uses) and we need to score. |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
I'm first and foremost an offensive guy but I can't wait to see Romo or Eli try to spin away from pressure up the middle into the waiting arms of Orapko or Carter. I'm looking forward to our improved pass rush creating more rushed passes which result in turnovers. Turnovers result in shorter fields for the offense. Shorter fields result in more points.

That certain something was getting to the QB..... this year the Skins are gonna be alot to deal with, a huge push up the middle with AH,CG,KG and AM: and a fly to the ball sweep from the DE's.. Should be something to get the popcorn out for.. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS, HAIL VICTORY, BRAVES ON THE WARPATH, FIGHT FOR OLD DC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Ah you lost me at Campbell and the WCO. If we get far its gonna be from stingy defense and good ol' fashion power running game. |

Sorry you're lost but a stingy defense and power running game didn't get us but so far last season. If we're gonna go farther this year we need some improvement from JC in the WCO and better production from our wideouts. I'm expecting both. |

Aren't you the same guy who predicts that Favre would light it up in Minnesota? Yet you lack enthusiasm for greater experience all around the Redskins' offense, including at QB? |

I think the best way to measure Haynesworth's contribution this year is on team sacks. Hopefully we can break 40. I have a "space-eater" mentality, so I'd be just fine if the DEs and LBs got all the sacks. |

Fortunately he's in a financial situation where he is able to. |

Im not doubting the offense..Im doubting Jason Campbell not for nothing but there is a reason why we tried to dump the guy twice. And yes Jason Campbell can only wish he can have the career Brett had. I predict Jason to be another Pat Ramsey. when he lives here next year 2 years best he start. after that he'll be signaling plays from the side line for a living(which isn't a bad 1) |

So we're abandoning the defense that's been working for five years to placate Snyder's latest marketing gimmick. We'll see.

It's already impossible for Campbell to be another Ramsey. Ramsey NEVER progressed or made improvements after his rookie season, he still made the same rookie mistakes over and over. Campbell already has improved and cut down on both fumbles and interceptions and made big improvements in decision making (knowing when to run and when to throw the ball away). |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
So tell me again, how does a thread about AH turn into a comparison of Ramsey and Campbell.
|
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
So tell me again, how does a thread about AH turn into a comparison of Ramsey and Campbell.
Because someone decided to pull a Campbell/Ramsey comparison out of thin air and derail the thread. :frusty: Back to the topic though, I found the phrase "space eater" interesting, since I feel that our DTs last year lacked the ability to push the offensive line. I am glad that AH is not going to be a space eater, this guy needs to push the offensive line and collapse the pocket. |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
So who do you (that is everybody) feel is best suited to play next to AH to better suit his play. Griffin or Monty or Kedric? I'm going Griffin, he still has the push and complements AH pass rsuhing skills.

I think we're in a win/win situation there since all 3 would benefit playing next to AH and all 3 are capable of having outstanding years. Monty would definitely make it a stout middle with the beef he brings. |

Patrick Ramsey still has many love interests posting on this site, that's how. I never understood them. At least the Colt-lovers have his potential to love...he hasn't already tried and failed repeatedly like Ramsey. :D SO anyways...I love the D-line this season. We have so many talented guys that we can constantly rotate them to keep them fresher than the opponents' linemen, especially the LDE spot. When Orakpo is rushing from the LB position, we can use that spot as the rotating spot. |
Re: RI: Defense Tweaked with Haynesworth 'No Space Eater'
Ive got to say, adding Haynesworth and Orakpo changed the whole dynamic of our defensive line. Where as DT and DE were very weak positions before, now we are pretty stinking deep. Granted, we don’t know who will make the final roster, Haynesworth, Griffin, Golston, and Montgommery, Carter, Orakpo, Daniels, Wynn, and Alexander make for a fairly deep line.
I think Haynesworth and Griffin will be our “starters,” but I doubt both of them will be on the field at the same time very often. Haynesworth is only going to play a little more than 50% of the snaps at his age, Griffin should be rotated fairly often as well. It would make sense to avoid situations where Golston and Monty were on the field at the same time as much as possible, so I Imagine Haynesworth and Griffin will play “tag” a lot and relieve each other. I’m also curious to see if we still move Daniels inside on some 3rd downs and have Haynesworth move outside, as he did fairly regularly in Tennessee. I’d love to see situations where a RT and TE have to deal with Haynesworth AND Orakpo… it wouldn’t be pretty for the quarterback. |
