Why I like Jason Campbell

No matter what transpires this season, JC is a class act guy. When faced with the opportunity to down talk critics and blame everyone else for the finish last year, or the trade talk, etc. the guy politely re-focused the talk back to His being a part of this TEAM... not his individual opinions on which way the FO can stuff their wayward way of treating players. JC once again proved that He was above the backbiting and clearly out classed anyone involved in that debacle. Sure, it is the NFL, sure it's a business, but someone of lesser inner fortitude would become such a cancer that VC and DS would have to rid themselves of the player by training camp, leaving the season pretty much at risk. This guy saw all of that, and chose to take the high road. GOOD FOR HIM!!! GOOD FOR HIM NOT BEING ANOTHER PRIMADONNA, JERK, ME FIRST- SCREW THE OTHER GUYS ATHLETE!!!!!! The guy is gonna have a big year: The OL is better, He finally has height and downfield speed to go to, and Portis has yet another season of complete physical training under his belt (aka BEAST!!!). When it comes around to contract time for JC, DS better get ready to dole out some serious numbers, because this year JC will prove how special He is. I'm done.

Agreed. If it's news, rumors, unique analysis (like blocking grades, game analysis, or CB YPA stats), or a very intriguing question (stress on the very part) then it deserves a thread. Opinions fit perfectly in existing threads though they look kind of awkward in the main section of the forum as stand alones.

well, taking the high road doesnt win football games. not too mention, few, if any teams have interest in him, so i dont think he can bitch and moan even if he wanted too.

I like him because he keeps himself neat and clean.

I doubt that whomever will be starting at QB for us in the 2010-2011 season will have any better personal hygiene than Jason.

There obviously has been a conspiracy which keeps Chase Daniel from starting. He's proven himself worthy of the starting QB spot.

If we can have the Cult of Colt, we can also have the Case for Chase.

Or maybe not...:)

So when JC has a good season this year, he's only gonna deal with the Redskins right? I'll give JC credit when he actually deserves it, when your making 4 mil a year to play mediocre football you better say the right things at press conferances.

I agree with you, but as we all know JC went as our OL went if they stay healthy watch this guy put up real good numbers, and Zorn needs to stop being vanilla in his play calling.

Jason Campbell has handled himself with nothing but dignity and class ever since he came to Washington. The Skins management could learn alot from Mr. Campbell.

Re: Why I like Jason Campbell

Kind of off-topic, but about Jason Campbell. Can somebody tell me why he is an unrestricted free agent next year? Also it's the same for Rocky McIntosh and Stephon Heyer next year. I don't know why certain guys have the restricted free agent and others do not. Is it just a contract to contract thing where the player and the team decide whether they want it or not or is there something else. I thought it was related to being drafted and everybody drafted had the RFA option at the end of the contract. I know last year we had Montgomery and Golston as RFAs from when we drafted them.

I think there's a part of Snyder/Cerrato/Zorn that wishes JC weren't such a polite, classy guy. I think they'd like a little 'tude from him.

But I like the way his eyes sparkle under the stage lights in those Eastern Motors commercials...um, I mean...what had happened was...

I like when he throws TDs, not as much when he throws INTs

We hear this stuff every year during the off season all over the league. Not just with Campbell but with rookies, free agents and none of it matters until the games start. But it's nice to hear JC seems to have a chip on his shoulder.

If he was stinking it up we'd probably have 10 threads on it. So it's only fair to point out that he was sharp in mini camp.

Yep, from reading the blogs he's apparently been the best at every drill I've seen mentioned.

Re: Why I like Jason Campbell

It think we'll see JC better than we've ever seen him this year. Leading by example is important but sometimes it takes a little more. Campbell needs to let it be known that this is his team and if you ever expect to get the ball you'd better be prepared to play. He seems to be taking more control in the huddle, as he should. I expect him to be more outwardly fired up this year and that can only be good for the team.

Re: Why I like Jason Campbell

Number 1 I am a huge skins fan .... as the team progresses, I just hope the front office will "build" the team .... I emphasize "team" .... most of the great franchises that have great and extended successful runs in the NFL are organizations that are based on "team" not glorified individuals .... I think Jason Campbell and many others on the Redskins "team" are just that, interested in and committed to the "team" above "self" .... I hope that the pieces, coaching and the "team" coming together will happen sooner than later for all of us impatient Redskin Fans .... the quality of players both on and off the field in our organization is rising and we are close, so very close ... I hope that this season will be a turning point ....
Go Skins ....

It's the Phillip Rivers effect without a Phillip Rivers guy actually in house.

Imagine how good he could have been by now had we let him stay in the same offense for more than a year and a half. Campbell is the hardest working guy on the team, and I'm very optimistic that this will be the year that he becomes a top 10 QB, assuming reasonable contributions from one or more of Kelly, Thomas, and Davis.
