Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King
For the DMB fans here what do you guys think of the new album? I think it's easily their best album since Before These Crowded Streets. I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it.

Love it. Did anyone catch the live show on Fuse on Monday night? It was SICK. I've seen DMB in concert 6 times, and their live performances are great.

Wow, Before These Crowded Streets better than Busted Stuff? I thought Busted Stuff was the best DMB since Crash. But if you're saying this is that good, I think I'll download it now! |

I absolutely love Crush and Pig, but Grace is Gone and Captain are so good too. For my money, I'll take Live at Luther College with Dave and Tim Reynolds any day. It's not a studio recorded album, but man it's great. Crash is definitely the best studio recorded album. So many of my favorite songs. #41 (my all time favorite DMB song), Two Step, and Proudest Monkey are so great. |

One of my favorite songs ever. Just DL'd GrooGrux, the 2nd track is really grabbing me from the get-go. |

Maybe if I had never heard those early demos I would feel different about Busted Stuff. I still Busted Stuff, solid album, but again it just didn't feel new or fresh. |

I caught some of the show on the net. Fuse is replaying it this weekend. The Fuse documentary that has been running the past 2 nights has been very good too. I'm seeing them next week, it will be my 26th show. |
Re: Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King
26th show? Wow.
Album is pretty good so far, haven't gotten through all of it. Dave(as they love to refer to in Charlottesville) is pretty good but people at UVA take it to a new level. I feel people like them just because of their "roots" in Charlottesville rather than music. Typical conversation... -"Hey dude you know dave played here man" -"No way man, totally awesome, best band ever...*sips his Natty Light while popping his collar*" I guess Dave is a pretty big "bro" band, but it's worst because they played in Charlottesville before they blew up. |
Re: Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King
26 shows might sound a little crazy but that's spread out over the course of the last 12 years or so. That includes a couple of Dave and Tim shows too.

Hey I just wanted to point out this is a great group of bloggers and this is a great web site. I have been coming here since 2004 (i was a lurker for a little while) and never been disappointed.
Threads like this keep me coming back. I always learn something new on this site if it is a song, a joke, a sports stat, govt. , etc... Even if you took away the Skins stuff it is still a damn good site. Thanks Matty for building this site and everyone else who contributes. And S10 Two Step does rock, thanks for the tip, the reason why I made this post. |

I left DMB behind sometime during my college years, but if what you say is right, I might have to check it out... |

It's a winner, trust me, check it out you won't regret it. |
Re: Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King
This CD is all kinds of awesome, with a little awesome on the side. I saw them last week at Darien Lake and will be going again to Syracuse, and man this CD is just awesome. I'm kind of a new DMB fan the last few years, so I can't really go back and compare it to when other stuff was released becuase I usually just listen to the live songs...but top to bottom this CD rocks.

Wow. You're a fanatic! They are an awesome band for sure. Btw, if you're a XM guy, they have a new DMB channel - channel 56 right in between Margaritville and Grateful Dead. It just came on last week. I think it only runs for a few more days though. |
Re: Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King
So I've had a chance to listen to GrooGrux a couple times now and really let it sink in. I rate it as "good". So if I had to give it some number of stars out of five, I'd say 3, maybe 3 and a half.
There are no annoying sucky songs, every one is at least alright. And there are a handful of extremely good tracks. I'm not jumping out of my chair with it; I'm crazy about Crash, Under the Table, and Busted Stuff. This doesn't rank up there for me. But Dave and company changed their sound a little bit on this one, reflecting some nice creative genius. Yet another good CD from them. Overall, worth the money you pay for it. |
