Sheesh. That sucks. RIP, Billy. Ed McMahon, Fawcett, MJ, and Mays all in the same week. Wow.

Not that it belongs in this thread, but in addition to all the celebrity deaths the Metro crash here in D.C. this week have made this one of the most bizzare weeks I can remember.

Death is always around us and sometimes its more obvious than other times. In Iowa we lost Ed Thomas. Very strange week indeed.

Billy Mays was on that flight yesterday that blew out a tire when it landed. Sounds like he could have died from head trauma like Natasha Richardson. Sad.

Yeah that was an absolute tragedy for sure.

Mays' death really hits home for many of us at ESPN. He was a fan and a friend. RIP

Here's a short interview with him after the plane landing. He did mention getting hit on the head.

There was a very small but fierce storm that rolled through on Friday evening in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase/NW DC area. A gigantic branch from a tree right at the intersection of Connecticut Ave and East-West Highway fell and crushed a mini-van, killing a woman and a young child, and injuring a few other kids in the van. Very sad.

A strange morbid week indeed.

I'm waiting for Firstdown to find a way to blame Obama and the Dems for all of this. I should be shot for even mentioning I guess.

Hmmm...maybe it is like Final Destation and everyone was suppose to die on that plane, they escaped death!

On a serious this is very sad and I liked Pitchman the show, plus he seemed like a nice guy.

Not sure why people think its so strange that people are dying when around 150,000 people die each day in the US and this week its just popular people have died.

Hello, Billy Mays here and today I want to introduce you to an amazing product called Oxi Clean.

Actually you said exactly what I was thinking. Tons of people die every day. Just because recently more of them happened to be famous doesn't make it any more of a sad thing.

I could give a rat's ass if Billy Mays died, just like he could have gived a rat's ass if I died three weeks ago.

The amount of celebs kicking it has been unusual. No more sad than a regular Joe, just odd is all.

Billy Mays was at the height of his popularity as a pitchman for anything sold on TV. Who would've thought that his death would come so quickly! The cause of death as being head trauma needs to be investigated further. Somebody mentioned that previously and I agree.

Its weird the amount of death that's in front of our faces this past week or so. Metro crash, celebs, and last week I witnessed a teenager get hit by a truck and killed in OC.

Kind of forget sometimes how temporary life is.

I rarely agree with firstdown in the parking lot, but I agree with this statement.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is sad these people died, Mays seemed like a really good guy. However, people die everyday, and in crazy ways too. We don't hear about everything unless it is high profile.

That is why I don't buy the whole "it is really weird thing". It is really sad, but everyday is.

Where in the hell did you get that number?

around 2.5mil people die a year, that's slightly over 6500 a day, nowhere NEAR 150k

Your right and when I searched it again I found the same site and it was talking about religion and peoples spirits dying. I just saw that they said that 150,000 people die in the US each day and did not read what it was actually talking about.

What its just some religous site saying that people spirits are dying not actual people. Then they want to save your soul. The number seems to be more around what you said. I don't have time to find that site but if your looking to get save I'll find it this afternoon.

Do they also have facts and figures on the unemployment rate of leprechauns? How about statistics on mystical garden fairies becoming unwed mothers?
