J. Campbell: The Kid Receivers Are Ready

Quarterback Jason Campbell was making a point, so I shut up and listened. We were talking this week about the upcoming season and his opinion about the Skins' strengths and weaknesses.

They're ready until one of them pulls up with a lame hamstring or knee in training camp.

Enough with the talk...time for the walk.

^^^end thread

I wanna see some numbers and a noticeable impact down the field and on crucial 3rd down catches. Kelly was a ghost last year but DT showed flashes. Hate to steal this but....

Just do it.

I'm glad to hear Campbell say that stuff, however I don't really expect him to come out and say, "yeah, they look like crap and I'm really worried."

Good thing is, tomorrow we'll start to see what they're all about. Man I am SO ready.

Walk the walk boys.

DT has all the juice .. time to make it happen .. MK seems to be VERY injury prone .. if DT can provide anywhere near 1,000 yards we will be in serious business

Re: J. Campbell: The Kid Receivers Are Ready

I really think Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly and Fred Davis are going to be productive this season...and if they are, this team could be special. If the O is consistent and the D improves, this team could be fun to watch.

I've got them winning around 11 and going into the playoffs.

Zorn also spoke highly of the trio yesterday.

I'm excited to hear some camp reports on these guys.

talk is cheap . . . didnt he say similar things last year? maybe JC can start throwing it more then 3 yards on 3rd and 10.

What will you have to talk about if JC has a good year??

I have a good feeling Kelly and Thomas will have a good year. If they both stay healthy, and Davis begins to learn the playbook, I think our offense can be very dangerous, and should definitely put up 20+ pts pg.

DT really started to mature at the end of last season. I'm expecting big things from him. As for MK, he just needs to stay healthy. FD needs to learn the playbook.

all wr's ( except desmond howard) look all pro in shorts and a tee shirt. they've all had great off seasons, now let's see if they can do it on game day. i have real doubts about kelly cause of his knee problems.

Would you rather them not be at camp or dropping passes left and right during practice?

every team in the nfl has people on their teams that have great off seasons. i'm glad these guys are learning how to be professionals but i remember hearing the same things about taylor jacobs. he was all world during the off season, couldn't get open to save his life on game day.

I'm glad there are ton of insightful posts like, "Show it on the field."

What would you like us to do? Hide under a rock until the season starts. This is a pretty good article that could spark some discussion instead a lot of people respond with, "screw talk, show up and do it." I'd like to know how that adds to discussion. Saying "bring it on gameday" is a point worth making, but it could have been made once, maybe twice, or maybe you could provide reasoning behind your lack of faith in the players. (because that's clearly what the post indicates)

i'm not trying to come off negative. i'm just tired of all the off season hype talk. especially from the guys that play offense. we hear it every year and when it comes to gameday we struggle to score 14 points. i actually have faith in davis cause i saw him really play well at usc. i think he can be better than cooley if he continues to apply himself. we'll see about the other two.

I tend to agree, the canned responses are a bit mind numbing at times.

Yes, but DT and MK were not even on the field at training camp last year. I understand if they had been in camp last year playing at full speed how this could get tiring, but some of us are glad to see them practicing and learning.

I agree that what DT and FD do in practice is largely meaningless, but considering Kelly's issues with health, if he gets it going in camp, nothings going to stop him come the season.

i hope you're right. but i'm not expecting much from him this year. he really hasn't been on the playing field since his senior year at oklahoma. big step up from big 12 defenses to nfl/nfc east defenses.

I don't put it all on them. The staff has to prove they can coach players up and get them on the field. Some teams seem to have a knack for doing so (see Desean Jackson last year). Only 1 out of 10 draft picks produced (Chris Horton), and he wouldn't have seen the field either if it weren't for an injury to Doughty. I can't blame it all on the players until the Zorn regime proves they can develop players. That said, I don't blame the coaching staff entirely either. It lies somewhere in the middle.

I believe we'll see good things from Kelly, Thomas AND Kelly. Player development will come around as well (Orakpo will have a good rookie campaign).

The first reports out of training camp include references to several big plays by Devin Thomas. Granted, it is just the start of camp, but as far as he can "show it in the field" in 2009, it seems he has. Keep it up, Devin! I have dreams of your dancing in the end zone in Cowboys Stadium!
