Training Camp Updates:
Did anyone see the CBS rapid report on the redskins training camp:
Washington Redskins | NFL at CBSSports.com So far it sounds like the camp is off to a good start. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for no injuries. |
Re: Training Camp Updates:
Cool.
I highly recommend Twitter for updates too. I've never been a big fan of Twitter but the instant updates from camp has me glued to my iPhone this morning. |

If competition serves its purpose appropriately, the level of play should make this one of the best secondaries in the NFL." It's just nice seeing that in print. |

I use Twitterberry for my blackberry but you have to sign up at twitter.com, search for the redskins, and then select to follow them. |

Re: Training Camp Updates:
Everytime I hear about our defense, I day-dream of Tony Romo laying on his back in a puddle of his own blood and urine at Broke-Back Stadium.

Id love it even more if it was McNabb |
Re: Training Camp Updates:
Nice:
-Redskins' TE Fred Davis split two defenders on a short curl pass from rookie QB Chase Daniel and turned it in to a 50-yard touchdown. -The Redskins are currently running 7-on-7 drills and the growing crowd of fans came to life when QB Jason Campbell connected with 2nd-year WR Devin Thomas on a 50-yard post pattern. -Defensive team drills have had a "no nonsense" approach as defensive doordinator Greg Blache's voice could be heard loud and clear after each play. |

I know it's just camp & the first day at that, but those guys need to start showing something immediately & looks like they're doing so. |

Seriously. Having Devin and Four Alarm Freddy both catch 50 yarders in the first session is a great sign. And SmootSmack is probably doing a jig up there in Bristol upon the news that Chase Daniel threw a 50 yard TD. That man-crush is in full bloom. :) |
Re: Training Camp Updates:
QB Brennan improves delivery: Redskins second-year passer Colt Brennan is off to a hot start in training camp thanks to his altered delivery. No longer throwing at a three-quarters angle, Brennan is bringing the ball high and releasing from above his head, making for sharper, tighter throws. Brennan was the Skins' seventh-round pick in last year's draft and could unseat Todd Collins as the backup to Jason Campbell with a good camp.
(Updated 07/30/2009).
From Colt Brennan, Washington Redskins, NFL - CBSSports.com Football Hopefully he'll beat out Collins. :) |

Re: Training Camp Updates:
Apparently none of the rookies are allowed to wear helmets with the Redskins logo on them. Gotta earn it. I like that.

Yeah Urban Meyer does the same thing at Florida. Freshman aren't allowed to wear anything Orange & Blue whatsoever during two-a-days. |

I like that too. I had been wondering since I think they had logos through minicamps/ota's |
Re: Training Camp Updates:
On ESPN980, Frank said Chris Samuels said, unsolicited, that the feeling is Jason Campbell has about 6 games to prove himself this season...
I'm no record as not being a firm beleiver in Campbell, but i dont think we have anything on our roster that would be an upgrade over Campbell to make switching after 6 games worthwhile. After 12 games, yeah, i might put Brennan in to see what he's got, but 6 games is FAR shorter of a leash than i think Campbell should get. I mean, if he's single-handedly losing games for us, then yeah, we've got to yank him. But Campbell isnt the type of QB who's going to singlehandedly lose games. I know Samuels is not the HC, but he's probably the only player who could say something like this and it would actually carry some weight. I mean, Samuels isnt the kind of guy to just run his mouth like CP. |

Re: Training Camp Updates:
The skimmy is that RAK is texting team-mates saying, "he will not be far behind." I think he'll be there soon enough.
|
Re: Training Camp Updates:
I don't get why Samuels would say this on the first day of camp...we haven't heard anything specific from the FO, Zorn etc and then, boom, JC has 6 games to prove himself? And what if the o-line falls apart in 4 games instead of 8 this year? Does that fall on JC's shoulders too? I'm sick of the "QB controversy" Snyder/Cerrato have created this off-season...I just want JC to have all the support he deserves.

Well, Zorn and his teammates are clearly behind him, and those are the guys he's with on a daily basis. They believe in him, and when he performs this season, so will Snyderatto. |

anyone get a tweet about orakpo being signed?
its been posted here and on extremeskins that people have received tweets, but i havent seen anything online yet. Sure would be nice to have him in camp. Considering he's learning a new position because we are horribly mis-using him, he needs all the time at camp he can get. |

Hopefully he has been signed. Let the kid show up at training camp and see what he does at the new position. |
Re: Training Camp Updates:
I was at this morning's practice. Run of the mill. Three things worth mentioning. Devin Thomas looked sharp, Samuels looks skinnier, and Peter King was present taking some notes but mostly talking to a fat man in a suit (who was either a Sidney Greenstreet impersonator or JFK's beat reporter) and Mike Wise. Also Lindsay Czarniak wore blue. So four things.

"The Blogger" Matt Terl was there also and someone yelled "Hey, The Blogger" and he turned and waved to the crowd like he was General DeGaulle or something. What a joke. |

We've always done that. |

Man, I'm psyched.
Not to be a party pooper, but this is a no-contact practice. they're not hitting or anything so most likely, the defenders let Davis and Thomas run past them for the TD. Just Saying. |
