Micheal Crabtree is sad
Little Mikey Crabtree is not working out very well under Mike Singletary. In fact, he may be making an idiotic move of colossal proportions if we can believe anything PFT says.
Source: Parker tells Niners that Crabtree will re-enter draft | ProFootballTalk.com Source: Parker tells Niners that Crabtree will re-enter draft Posted by Mike Florio on August 6, 2009 11:52 AM ET The situation in San Francisco between the 49ers and receiver Michael Crabtree is quickly going from bad to worse. Per a league source, agent Eugene Parker is telling the 49ers that Crabtree will sit out the season re-enter the draft in 2010, unless the team gives Crabtree what he wants. Of course, what Crabtree specifically wants isn't known, since Parker (as multiple sources tell us) still hasn't made a proposal. There's also a growing chorus of league insiders who are speaking out against the widely-believed effort by Parker to blow up the slotting process with Crabtree. Teams obviously would contend that the unwritten rules of draft-pick negotiation ritual should be honored; however, some of the agents who arguably would benefit from the introduction of chaos privately have described efforts to blow the curve as "inappropriate" and "unacceptable" and "wrong." And if Crabtree opts to re-enter the draft next year, the current thinking is that he wouldn't be the first receiver drafted. For now, the guy who is regarded as likely to be the first wideout (and possibly the first overall pick) is Illinois junior Arrelious Benn. Then again, if Crabtree is picked any higher than No. 10 after having a chance to engage in pre-draft workouts, he'd likely end up with more money than the slotting process currently would pay. After, of course, waiting a year to get it.
After this:
There's No Crying In Football? | ProFootballTalk.com There's No Crying In Football? Posted by Aaron Wilson on June 12, 2009 1:27 PM ET Either San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary remains just as intimidating as he was during his Hall of Fame playing days or maybe rookie wide receiver Michael Crabtree might be a bit sensitive to criticism. Or perhaps it's a combination of both factors because Singletary said he nearly made the first-round draft pick cry after criticizing him sharply for running pass patterns prior to being granted medical clearance following his foot surgery, according to Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle. Here's Singletary's version of his conversation with Crabtree, the former Texas Tech star drafted 10th overall. "'I've got nothing against you," Singletary said. "I'm not angry or anything. I just want you to know, you have to do everything the doctors want you to do so that you can get better.' I said, 'I'm not worried about what you can do.' I said, 'I know. We drafted you at No. 10. We know what you can do. "We just want to make sure that when you come out here, you're ready to go.' So, he's done the things that he needs to do, spending a lot of time with [wide receivers coach Jerry] Sullivan. I know Jerry is excited about what he's seeing as well." It doesn't sound like enough to make someone so upset that they're nearly bursting into tears but, then again, it doesn't specify how loud, colorful, and wide-eyed that Singletary might have been during the exchange. Per the report, Crabtree is on track to be ready by training camp.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Stand your ground SF. Make him and his idiot agent pay for their greed and dumbness.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Dumb, dumb move on Crabtree's part. And another reason why there needs to be a clear cut rookie payscale in the NFL. This crap about he should have been drafted higher and therefore paid more is completely insane.

No kidding. I don't even understand how a reasonable person can make such a claim with a straight face. It's this type of crap that gives agents a bad name. |

In that case why have a draft, just pay players based on the Draft magazines haha. |

I am starting an anti PFT movement. Sadly, I am all alone, because people just won't stop posting is as a reference.

Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Play for the 2nd contract, Crabtree. I think Crabtree is the best receiver that came out this year, but you sure as hell wont make more money next year. You're not going to be a 1st round pick.

Play for the second contract?! All he has to do is sign the same as Orakpo and he is a MULTI MILLIONAIRE. If he really wanted to hurt them he would sign, then claim his foot hurts and go laughing all the way to the bank! |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
This can't be true because if it is, then this is the worst move since the Ricky Williams Master P contract. 20 Mil. in hand is worth more than 30 Mil. in the bush. His grandma, baby mama, and mama would keek his behind. Not kick, but keek.

Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
I think its funny that Singletarry was a 2nd round pick and rookie holdout because he felt he should have been paid as if he were drafted higher.

Oh, I never believe anything from them either, but this article/topic is so hilarious. If it IS true...craziness. I'm with you though...not saying I am believing it...just sharing it. I'd never use them for a source to support me in a debate or discussion. If it's another typical, par-for-the-course tabloid bunch of crap, then it's just another normal PFT article. Great topic for discussion either way, the rookie pay scales and contracting needs reformed desperately. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
I blame his agent.

A system that rewards a top draft pick like Matthew Stafford a larger signing bonus than that given to a Super Bowl winning QB (Eli Manning) is a joke. The time has come for veterans to lean on the new NFLPA rep to lobby hard to limit rookie pay in the next CBA.

Somebody please clarify who this "Wells" character is? Parker is his agent right? What is Wells's authority on the situation?
Nevermind this wasn't visible the first time I looked at it. I'm with you, too. I read PFT but never use it as a reference here. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Wells, supposedly, is Crabtree's cousin and "adviser"... meaning, the guy that Crabtree & his agent wanted to make the statement so they don't look as stupid... hahaha

It's because in between the crap/commentary they break actual news. |

And people say football players are arrogant and dumb. Where does that come from?
It's because in between the crap/commentary they break actual news.
They have rarely broke any actual news. They got lucky on this one. Edit. Remember this? I will never get burned again. http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/19534-rumor-brunell-heading-to-seattle.html#post345546 I know that it was not PFT, but this is a perfect example of why I do not believe anything until a combination of the following take place 1. it actually happens 2. reported by a reputable news source 3. is confirmed by those involved In this example you only have 1 of 3 and that is only because ESPN put their neck on the line. It has not happened and the parties involved have denied it. |

They do it constantly. Seriously. Yeah they have a serious amount of crapola. Most of it is speculation/commentary/stirring things up. Florio often acknowledges it. But most of their stuff is straight forward reporting. There's a reason so many people follow it. If it was all crap no one would care. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Michael Crabtree = Next T.O.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
After sitting out a full year and not playing any football along with an attitude, I don't think anybody will take him in the top 10. Hopefully he drops to the 32nd pick so we can pick him up.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
I'm glad this thread was posted. Crabtree is greedy and i hope SF doesnt allow him on their team.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
The media is having a field day with this. The 49ers are in an even stronger position now. Whoever is advising that fool needs to shut up.
When the public hears this kind of garbage in this economic environment it's an instant PR nightmare for the player. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Honestly Crabtree holding out for a year will end up making for much better stories then anything he will likely accomplish on the field this year so I am all for it. Ive never been a San Fran fan but I would become one if they end up low balling him now, based on his attitude and missed practice.
There is no way he would be a top 20 if he sits out a whole year, unless he goes to the UFL or something and tares it up (which would be foolish incase he doesnt do well or gets hurt). Plus he looses out on a whole year of income, likely never to be realized again, he will end up making less money in the short and long run unless he is picked higher then 10 next draft. Also how great would it be if theres a rookie pay scale in place next year and its all based on incentives no guarantees and you get paid less then vets. I mean whats wrong with someone demanding they get more then their fmv? |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Man, if he does, what I wouldn't give to see SF draft him again...
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
trade him to the Lions or Raiders , then pay Tonya Harding to club him in the knee.

LOL. That was random and funny. |

Plain and simple on this one, Crabtree is a FOOL and so is his agent!
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
I blame his agent.
Yup he thinks next year will be uncapped and he'll get more.:yeahright |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
His cousin is a complete idiot but let's be honest here, we all know the chance of this fool sitting out is nil.
Never say you're going to something unless you're willing to do it and I doubt he will. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Even thought the probability is low, theoretically what would happen to the 49ers pick? They would have the 10th pick and what ever pick they would be slotted for?

:laughing- In the second round. |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Crabtree is a dumb ass but there is no way he's going to turn down 20mil. He's getting some real bad advice but I'd expect to see him sign eventually. If he sat out he might not get drafted til the mid rounds next year.
|

Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
He is a assjack.
|
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
The cherry on the top of this story would be that when Crabtree eventually signs with whoever he'll be a huge bust.
Hahaha wouldn't that be an Oh Sh*ter! |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
I blame his agent.
lets remind people. the agent WORKS for the player. if he doesn't want to sit, he tells his agent. and didnt one of the wide outs from U.S.C do exactly this a couple of seasons ago. maybe Mike Williams? |
Re: Micheal Crabtree is sad
Crabtree is a total diva. It's been obvious for a while. And whoever his "handlers" are, they're screwing this up. The best advice Crabtree could follow in this case is to realize you haven't done shit yet on the pro level, act humble, work hard, and shut your mouth. Instead he's acting just like the kind of WR that divides teams and creates friction, a la TO and Ochocinco. Even if he is that guy, you have to put on a different front at this stage.
The funny part is, even when Crabtree does sign (no way in hell he gives up a full year of that kind of earning power), Mike Singletary is the last guy who will put up this diva kind of BS. |
