Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Cunningham could actually somewhat run an offense and throw the ball, of course Vick won't be that.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
You all know what Vick can do. He can win games. Reguardless of what you think of the guy he'll be on the Eagles team wk7 vs Redskins. That game could be decided on the addition of said player Vick. As I look back over the past few years, I've seen the Redskins lose to Quincy Carter, Shaun King, Brad Johnson and Byron Leftwich. I've also seen Todd Yoder (as a Buc) score multiple times on the same play vs the Redskins. If you think Vick will not be a facet of the Eagles offense against the Redskins in wk7 you are crazy. NFC East just got a lot tougher. Talk to me during wild card week... Remember 2 years ago when ya'll dissed me for Favre talk? And his still playing? Yep. I'm hoping Skins will make .500 and I'm a diehard...

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Every player is unique with special qualities, as a coach you utilize those qualities to win games. That's my beef with Zorn last year. He had a system in his head and tried to transpose that on the Redskins personnel. As if every team in the NFL is not familliar with the basic West Coast Offense. When Vick played QB for Atlanta they always had the top rated rushing attack. You take what you got and build on it. If I have the top rushing attack then I work with that, If I have the top passing attack then I work with that. With Andy Reid as his coach you don't know what he might become. Rich Kotite made Randall stay in the pocket. He was not sucessful and Randall got hurt.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
The Eagles will have scary speed on offense when Reid puts Vick on the field as a wildcat QB with Jackson and Maclin as WRs.
|
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Thank you Captain Obvious. Cunningham made great decisions, had a good strong and ACCURATE arm and was a leader. He's my favorite Eagle of all time if I had to pick an enemy to root for. I always liked watching him play.
Heck, he could even punt the ball 90 yards. The only thing he and Vick have in common is that they can both run. Speed does not make a good QB, only a good athlete. The two are separate. |

Yes, Atlanta became a Super Bowl winning Dynasty under Vick. Chris Chandler took the team further than Vick ever did. Vick's Falcons team also had a great running game (other than him) and a solid defense. He's not solely responsible for their wins. In fact, I bet his 53% completion percentage 75 QB rating and double digit interceptions annually hurt the team more than helped them. |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Okay Okay all teams should have the same kinda QB.

Completed 2,429 of 4,289 passes (56.6%) for 29,979 yards and 207 touchdowns (81.5 Rating). Also had 775 rushing attempts for 4,928 yards (6.4 yard average) and 35 touchdowns. |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
My point is all players have different attributes. It's funny how Colt's mobility is wonderful but Vick's means he shuold be a runningback. Colt's passes are not crisp. They wobble, does that make him a QB who can't throw. No it makes him Colt. There are strengths and weaknesses to every player. Look at Farve for instance, gun- slinger/interception machine. In my opinion a bad QB throws the ball into coverage when pressured. Look a Jake Delhomme for instance. Vick played on a running team, who invested little in pass protection or WRs until close to his departure. Under Andy Reid Vick will be a different QB because the game plan will be to use what he does best. He throws too hard for some wideouts.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Here's my thing: Was Vick running professional training regimens in prison? If not, you can assuredly bet that while he's still going to be quick, he won't be that "OMG!!11! WTF HAPPENED?!?!1!1" QB that we all remember...

Exactly. This thread is dumb to begin with, because Randall Cunningham was a starter, which Vick isn't right now. But Philly's offense will be something else to deal with (if that offensive line gets healthy). The potential for McNabb, Westbrook, Vick, Maclin, and Deshean Jackson on the field at the same time is pretty scary. |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Only time will tell if Vick has lost his game breaking ability. Time will tell us that.
|
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Did we sign Cunningham; or is the Vick hate that bad that someone pulled a highlight video of a QB that hasn't played in years to show that they don't like Vick too ? I mean honestly ?
|
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
It's funny how we talk about the media and their Vick overkill...yet here on this board we have one thread dedicated to how Vick won't be Randall Cunningham (I think that's what this is about) and another dedicated to someone's new profile picture featuring a Redskins jersey that shows we didn't sign Vick.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Vick is on the list with Michael Jackson, Obama, HiP HoP, Castro, Chavez, Hamas. Let's be serious.

??? Interesting list. Not sure what the common thread is |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Overhyped media subjects perhaps...The shit that dead horses beat when they are bored. Although hip hop and castro are interesting additions to the list?

He says he is just as fast and one thing about it his body has not been taking the pounding from the last two seasons. |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Cunningham is a little overrated by many. Really what did he do w/ Philly in all those years?

There was a reason he was the highest paid person in the NFL. When he was not on the field Atlanta was just not the same team and the record showed that. Vick has taken his team to the playoffs and won playoff games. He was a big part of that. Jason Campbell has not done that yet. Vick was a good QB, he just wasn't a good passer. |

When you have a player that does something better than anyone else in the league. You would be foolish not to exploit that advantage. I used to love how 3rd and 8 to go. Vick can get that easily, but while you out there in the secondary and you faster than everyone else, I don't see any reason not to take a chance to take it to the house. Common sense. |

Vick is bringing a LOT more than on-field skills to the Eagles or any team he plays for...and they're not all GOOD things. There are more variables than if he can fit into your offensive system to consider when deciding to add Vick to your team, much like with someone like Terrell Owens, but on a much bigger, potentially more distracting scale. |

For example: Jessica Simpson |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Jessica dating our #2/#3 QB will still be more of a distraction to R(H)omo than us.
|
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
If Vick hit the weights, etc in prison and ran sprints, he should be good to go. Cunningham was a better overall QB. Vick can run and dance, but his throwing wasn't much better than Tarvis Jackson. Shoot even good ole Gus had a better arm than Tarvis!! Vick should shine as a Cordell Stewart/Slash type player when called upon for trick plays and those emergency must convert or lose 3rd down plays. Vick could easily burn us this way.

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
I am only going to say this one more time. Vick was more accurate than many people think he was. His biggest problem was the fact that his recievers dropped many passes that they should have caught. Maybe, they were not used to a left handed QB or whatever, but those who under estimate his ability are going to be pissed if he makes us pay for years as the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Food for thought, Donovan McNabb is not known for his accuracy, but he has made us pay big time with the accuracy that he does have. Stop hating and realize that we have a true threat lined up against us if he is not traded or signed elsewhere. |

an employee at petsmart.
No just kidding, what Mike Vick won't be is as good as what he was a few years ago when he rushed for 1,000 yards. |

Re: What Michael Vick won't be
I remember hoping that we'd sign Cunningham after he unretired.
|
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
Uhhh, Id say while he has lost fractions of seconds off his top speed he has matured in the pocket or at least hasnt repeated many of the same mistakes he did while he was becoming a pocket passer or a real QB. Truth is he doesnt have to be that dedicated to pocket passing b/c w/ the speed the Eagles have there are too many mismatches once he gets out of the pocket.
I hate Vick the dogfighter but the athelete has regained his heyday stature IMO. |
Re: What Michael Vick won't be
I dont care what the haters say Vick has redeemed himself, he just needs to keep pushing on, why people still talking about this, but I bet I can pull up some rapist, murders, that either still played and once played in the NFL, and thats alot worse, I was the first to say he needed to go to jail, and I was the first to congradulate him for moving pass this......... cause we got people out their thats so close to animals...... some closer than they need to be :spank: I say to yall move the F***** on, maybe you should be concerned with more pressing things......... All the pieces of shit we had around as QB's........... watching a good one makes my day........ Keep being great Vick, keep doing your thang
