We are not below the radar according to Warren Sapp.

C.J., West Chester 04:05 PM ET
Hey Warren! The Eagles were a super bowl contender BEFORE Vick, so what does that mean now? I'm thinking Patriots-Eagles Super Bowl this year, your thoughts? Thanks man

Warren Sapp, NFL Network
Patriots? Yes. Eagles? Fifth on my list of the NFC teams. I have Minnesota, Washington, Atlanta and Cardinals.

Please take away one of the l from below.

I've found one NFL analyst who thinks we should be good.

Link?

Clearly this is fabricated because the media hates the Redskins.

Or because Warren Sapp and hasn't been exposed to all of the necessary haters yet.

Eagles were NOT a SB contender before Vick. Other than Peters who is injured and maybe McCoy at backup RB, they downgraded a ton of positions in offseason losses of Dawkins, Shepherd and others. They've lost their defensive leader and their line is already in shambles.

Vick only adds distractions.

/sarcasm
I'm picturing Sapp strapped to a chair with his eyes pried open like in A Clockwork Orange. He's being forced to watch anti-Redskin propaganda while "Hail To The Redskins" is played backwards a full volume.

I'd like to know if he said this before or after our 1st preseason game because it seems like a lot of people are putting more stock into that than they probably should.
Either way, I like where his head is at. On paper, so take that for what its worth, we seem to be built for success now that we should have a GREAT defense and an offense that should be able to run the ball well and limit turnovers.

re: We are not below the radar according to Warren Sapp.

Sapp was a DT, so maybe he's overvaluing his position & predicting we'll be a contender because we got a beast DT.

I think every commentator is looking for that dark horse team to throw out there in august, then say in Dec.; "remember, I picked them & no one else did." The Skins are a good dark horse pick IMO, but I honestly can't say at this point we should expect to be 1 or 2 in the division. The NFC east is shaping up to be so brutal that the last place team will be better than a couple division winners.

Until our offense shows it can be score some points (and its been many years), its tough to call us a contender, IMO.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. I was like, "I bet he's picking them because he thinks Haynesworth is going to have a monster year and catapult them into the playoffs."

yeah, seems rare that a former player can come right into the booth/studio in the first couple of years & not overstate their position's value. Aikman & Moose are actually a couple of the best at talking about all positions. C. Carter & Keyshawn seem to revert to wr talk in every discussion.

Maybe he did, but accepted it for what it is, a preseason game with NO bearing on the regular season record.

If by "Moose" you mean Darrell Johnston...he is an absolute DOUCHENUGGET. I can't stand him. And he looks like the Ooompa Looompa's father. Nice fake tan, douche.

Re: We are not below the radar according to Warren Sapp.

Last night on NFL network amidst all the Favre press conference coverage, Rich Eisen asked Mike Mayock and Warren Sapp who they thought would be atop the NFC this year. Mayock went with your normal Philly aqnd New York BS, and Warren went out on his own ( only national voice i have heard so far ) to call the Redskins one of the best teams. His thought was that our D would be much stronger with the addition of AH and that if Portis stays healthy we have a good chance at winning our Division. ( Not only as a Redskins fan would I be ecstatic, but also as a listener of Sirius NFL radio I would love to see all these experts eat alot of crow. )

Re: We are not below the radar according to Warren Sapp.

I hope he is right. The easy pick in the NFC is Philly, Giants or Cardinals but rarely does things in the NFL go as scripted. There will be an unsuspected team that will rise to the top. Who would have picked last year, the Arizona Cardinals in the Superbowl or the Tennessee Titians with the best regular season record? Hopefully this will be the year that the Skins defense will be so dominating that it creates easy scoring opportunities for the offense and the Skins can be back into the Superbowl with a defensive oriented team, aka like the Ravens.

Yet, both those teams led in the super bowl late in the fourth quarter. Only real difference is that the Patriots scored too quickly, and the Steelers ate all the time on the clock. Could have had two crazy super bowl champs in back to back seasons.

I'm thinking that the rep from the NFC is coming out of the West, probably Seattle. But back here in the east, I think way too many people are forgetting us. Can't blame them for losing us in the shuffle of our division, but boy, when you are talking about teams who can beat the NFC East teams in the playoffs, you have to like the people who are putting the Panthers and Vikings ahead of the Redskins. Doesn't take more than a 5 minute glance at the rosters to see how ridiculous that is, but it's understandably hard to find the time when you're busy shouting opinions at a camera.

I hope no one listens. I'd prefer to stay under the radar until we hoist the Lombardi trophy.

I agree Skins4L. I think we'll see a big improvement in the redzone over last year. Kelly and Davis will help and we'll have more plays installed this year.

Dallas is relatively under the radar as well. That scares me. I would so much prefer for all the talking heads to have them going to the SB.

Man, I've got no love for cowpokes, former or present, but I respect his professionalism. I think he does a great job in the booth.

Not too concerned w/his tan, fake or not, but I'll give you credit on the insult!

Aikman and Moose are always kissing the Cowboys butt. Even when they do try to compliment someone its usually a stupid comment. I cant stand either one, pretty sad but Id rather listen to Madden anyday.
Until our offense shows it can be score some points (and its been many years), its tough to call us a contender, IMO.
You raise a valid point. The last time that our offense legitimately inspired fear was back when Norv Turner was coach. That said, if we can even approach 20 points per game, we will contend for the division title.

again, I respectfully disagree. I've found both to be quite critical at times of the cowpokes, but give them credit when it's due, such as Tuna's job bldg. the team & their 13-3 season a couple years ago.
